As a german I can confirm, that it is mandatory for us to call an english person at least once a week to mock them. And it is important to me to stick to this rule.
I have a German mate (lets call him Hans) who actually does this. I'm pretty sure he's a secret Anglophile though, he only calls me to hear the accent.
what an amazing person. Al Murray is so brilliant he can combine comedy, history, business, economics all in one package. he is an absolute master when it comes to comedy with class. i feel amused and enriched at the sometime.
I say he is the funniest intellectual comedian there is and I’m in my seventies. He keeps me going. God bless him. He has got me through some dark days. Thanks Al Murray.
I fully agree. His observations backed by knowledge, his nuances and delivery of things we can no longer say publicly, while privately having a giggle within closed circles makes this man one of the only intellectual comedians performing at this level. Five per cent of this monologue was devoted to a clever stab at the Irish of which I am one, and his exposing of the greed, lunacy and smugness of the Celtic Tiger era was right on the money. He subtly portrays us as the victims, and we truly were. We're still paying the debt, fourteen years later with many more years to go. Greetings from a recently turned 59 year old. This performance is incredible.
Never thought I'd hear a British comedian educating an audience about global finance. Al Murray for finance minister I say. First job, pull the plug on the corrupt derivatives market.
It is too late to do so... Derivatives make up about 130 Trillion dollars - more than the combined GDP of all nations... You will have to reset the entire economy after abolishing all debt to do away with it...
For those commenting on his German accent I think you will find his (Paternal) Grandmother was of German/Austrian Aristocratic descent. he tells a superb story of his Grandmother scaring the crap out of him whilst reading the Three Bears fairy story in a strong German accent. have had the pleasure of attending half a dozen of his shows and never been disappointed. Brilliant comic and a very intelligent man.
I don't think a German grandmother would have taught him some of the expressions 😂😂 In reality Al is pretty well-informed about Germany and he seems to like it. There is a great series about his travel adventures in Germany which show his interest in and sympathy for the country and its people ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4iX0ZdX1i2w.html
@@christophergraney-ward2759 His German was almost perfect. The accent being exaggerated for comedic effect, just like his regular persona as The Pub Landlord is exaggerated Cockney. Not even remotely racist so don't know why you had to imply that. If you didnt like the humour yourself that's fine, but that doesn't mean it's not well written and well performed.
@@graemefarquharson465 And there you have just confirmed the validity of my last comment. Oh I do love a reasoned intellectual debate. I'm guessing you are a barrister right?
For those that don’t know a word of German he went off on an tangent about the World Cup and now England got knocked out and how Germany was doing in the competition
Idk if you understand a lot of it, but was he singing "sie sind scheiße, und sie kennen sie sinkt"? I kinda want to know if that's right cuz it's funny, though the whole thing is tbh.
@@yahtzee4229 It should be "wissen" but we know "kennen" (to know a person) as that survived in some dialects as "ken", while "wissen" has no surviving cognates in English apart from the rather obscure phrase "God wot" (God knows).
8:52- That German ringtone had me pissing with laughter 😂😂😂😂, I have the same ringtone on my phone and am always tempted to answer with “Hallo Deutschland hier!!” whenever it rings
Guy Gibson who commanded the Dam Busters raid on the Ruhr valley dams during WW2, using Barnes Wallis's 'bouncing bomb", had a pet black Labrador dog he named Nigger; which he also used as the word in the coded transmission to confirm when each of the target dams were destroyed. That word is no longer socially acceptable, if it ever was, so it's workplace verboten!
Growing up I never appreciated or liked al Murray’s comedy or humour but now as I’m older I understand and find him absolutely hilarious and not to mention how clever this man is with his jokes 10/10
He speaks German way better than that, I know for a fact because he visited to make a documentary here. But of course, the Guv doesn't, why would he when English is the best language IN THE WOOOORLD!?
I don't think many people know that Al Murray is a qualified Historian who attended and graduated Oxford University and can if memory serves speak fluent German. He is a very smart Individual and knowing this at least for me makes the Guvs comedy that much more funny.
AncoGaming. English is the most widely spoken language in the world. More people speak other languages, but English is the most common second language. Knowing German is useful in Germany (and Austria) but where else? Knowing English is likely to be useful in practically every country in the world. It’s all the consequence of England being the first modern democracy, the first to embrace science for its own sake (the first society to create a organisation devoted to science) and the first to industrialise and bringing civilisation to at least a quarter of the globe in the greatest empire in history.
'The longest period was 25 years after the repeal of the corn laws. Ask Pops about it afterwards. They had it coming in the Crimea didn't they Pops? You and Gladstone yeah?' Laughing so much. Pure gold.
seen you live on every tour since about 1995 and still every time i see every clip i am in tears of laughter. holy shit this is just what i need in 2020.
A great ear for voices - musical would not be an understatement. Comedic timing, intelligence, great observation and (Marxist) analysis. Very rare and special act.
Successful people don't become that way overnight. What most people see at a glance wealth, a great career, purpose is the result hard work and hustle over time. I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life
Speaking of Investing, forex trading is the best business in the world right now I know a couple of friends that make a lot money weekly trading with the financial markets
What a fantastic night out this must've been. Al's such a great storyteller. A good music gig sends you home humming tunes; Al's audience would have been driving home shouting "WHAT THE F*CKIN' F*CK?" into their mobile phones... I hope nobody was pulled over by the police. :-)
