Any particular reason why you formed the butter pucks individually? Seems to me it would've been a lot easier to just roll the butter into a log, put it in the freezer to firm up and then just cut it.
I’m not a vegan, but I love trying different foods so every time I have an opportunity to try a different vegan burger or plant based burger I take the opportunity. I’ve tried some at really good vegan restaurants, I’ve tried the beyond burger and the impossible burger and I’ve tried several different vegan burgers that vegan friends of mine have made, almost all of them were good, some were excellent. But there wasn’t a single case where I wasn’t able to tell that it wasn’t a real burger.
That makes sense to me. I've gotten to a point that real meat disgusts me, but not vegan. So I get it. But it's getting close, and there are better meat burgers and worse ones. And I wonder if you were led to believe a close burger was real, if it could fool you then. I'm not arguing you or anything, this is just a thought.
If anyone is worried about burning the onions: you can make great carmelized onions in a slow cooker, just throw them in with butter/oil and a little salt and leave on low all day.
@@bsteven885 honey isn't technically vegan or non vegan bcz it's a byproduct made from plants. Vegan tend to disagree but that's the same premise of saying leavened bread isn't 3ither bcz the yeast
@@bsteven885 If you want to avoid honey, you can use coconut aminos instead of soy sauce. Most coconut aminos are naturally sweet, though the sugar content tends to vary by brand.
Well, i'm not vegan but i do like your creativity and, most importantly, the passion you put into making this content, as soon as i get a hand on the ingredients i'm gonna try it out and compare it to actual meat, great video and keep up the good content!
Would you say purchasing vegan burger meat is better than making your own? I find it to be very difficult to get it right when doing them myself so usually just go back to purchasing some
It depends on what you are looking for really. Better? hmm I would still argue that making your own is better. Its a little cheaper and you control everthing about it. It is more time consuming and sometimes some TVP's just aren't that great. So just for the quick and easy is when I buy it. I probably make just as much as I buy. I have a video coming up using a new TVP that is going to be pretty awesome!
Looks very professional Mark. You're one of my favs anyway, but this is next level. Matches your experiments / recipes. You lift vegan cooking to the next level, you have been the great inspirator in my vegan journey ❤
Great video! I love how you start with a teaser of the ending and draw on some of your experience from your shorts channel. Awesome format to this one! Also the juicy flavor pucks absolutely makes more sense in context of vegan burgers than with meat imo.
(i know you struggle with pronunciations so this is not a knock against you, just wanted you to know it’s MEEyoko) Also if you didn’t know already Miyoko Schinner (founder of Miyoko’s Creamery) is basically like the vegan Martha Stewart or Julia Childs, you should definitely check out some of her videos. She has some oldies on RU-vid that are super hilarious but packed with info, and earlier in the pandemic she was live-streaming almost every day on Facebook (some later posted on RU-vid) with lots of reallllly delicious recipes. She even published a vegan meat cookbook last year that I bet you’d find interest in!
I love your content!! So interesting, original and creative! I also enjoy how you talk about other content creators :3 & for a second there, your smooth editing and cuts made me think you microwaved your camera lol , I love it,
@@SauceStache Mark: "And now I present to you, the new bacun made from microwave camera!" Mark:"(💭Thinking to self💭"I wonder if they bought that (after nuking his camera). Monica: "Wow!, you CAN make vegan bacun from anything!" 🤣🤣🤣
Oooh, we’re planning on grilling next week, I’m going to have to try this. Question though. I find I get a better grill result if I grill my Impossible Burgers from a frozen state. Do you think I could do all the prep of the butter puck between the patties and then freeze the prepped burger?
- I would like to see you make really good liverwurst using something like TVP[textured vegetable protien]. - And/or tofu. - Something that you can make a sandwich with or just with crackers. - And balance the Soy and wheat protiens so it contains a complete meat-like protien. - But keep the fiber content low. - Several different flavors too. - Similar to sloppy joes kind of as well.
@@trol_8889 -Jellyfish might be considered by a vegan. - It has no real nervous system or organs. - It is just a little bit above the mushroom on the evolution scale. - It is almost like synthetically grown meat.
It irks me when my friends say stuff like, "Ugh, vegan burgers are so nasty!" I don't know what vegan burgers they've had but the clearly haven't been eating the right ones.
I love your videos, they are so juicy. Thumps up 👍 for all the precious animal lives you save in spreading and promoting the vegan life style. Heaven will reward you during you life on earth and in the life hereafter. 💗💗
Is it weird that I knew what you were going to do the moment you mentioned the butter, but I had never seen a Guga video?💀💀 Great video as always though ☺️❤️
GOOD AFTERNOON SAUCYMAN! Yes, IMPOSSIBLE MEAT! Best of the best! Taste great and don't shrink when they cook! On a side note, I went shopping today for actual real meat sauce, and Ironically everything that I found that said it was a 'traditional' Bolognese sauce turned out to be VEGAN instead lol!
This looks great! This is making my mouth water! If you haven't yet, you should try Raised and Rooted brand plant-based burger. I ended up getting this brand as a substitute in my Instacart order a few weeks ago, and it is DEFINITELY a contender for top spot right next to Impossible.
@Sauce Stache , to keep mine juicy, I typically just mix in minced onion, about half a yellow onion to 8oz Impossible or Beyond, to make four. I also did my dad's "teriyaki burgers," where he added dried onion flakes, soy sauce, and cooked white rice (about 2Tbsp per burger). Both add-ins keep it moist. My husband normally hates rice ("it looks like maggots"), but loved this. Dad used to throw the real meat version on the grill, over charcoal, so I also added a touch of liquid smoke. Sometimes, he would also slather them in barbecue sauce, and allow that to caramelise. I haven't done that, since I prefer the plain, with cheeze. Now, if only the cheeze tasted better, had protein, would brown, and didn't leave that weird film on my teeth... 🙄 Adding in fresh minced onion makes them taste kind of like White Castle or Crystal burgers, but if they were making them from quality meat, rather than canned dogfood. Cheers!
My non-vegan kids all actually prefer my vegan burgers over beef ones. And that's before all of your trickery! Fake meat is really good these days, and with inflation and meat supply issues, is actually getting closer in price, too.
@@SauceStache On your next imitation fish video I would like to see you use an oil that is higher in omega 3s. Chia or hempseed oil. Flax seed oil has a distinctive taste so maybe stay away from it or add it to a comparison.
Sauce stache, have you seen Goodful's video where Merle and Rie make vegan chashu (rolled pork) from king oyster mushroom? I would love to see your take on it if you were able to add some sort of layer of vegan fat in between! I was really impressed with the technique Merle pulled off!
I think the difficulty is how enthusiastic guga and everyone on his channel is about the food he makes....whereas even Monica often seems unconvinced. 😂😂😂 Thing is...meat eaters can enjoy it for now but they best get behind the wave of the future because it's off the menu asap!
I'm liking the style of the video, but the sound seems to fast to me. Otherwise great!! Can't wait to see the rest (I just paused for this constructive comment)
If you give option A or B saying "One is vegan the other is not" people would say "Ok he is my friend, he is not lying to me nor hiding information hence one should be real meat, and because personaly think that meat should be better then I would say that the real meat one is the one that I liked most" so choosing between A or B for them was just saying which one was tastier for them, now give them a real meat one and I HOPE they are as confused as they were with option A or B, but I have seen that before and the real meat is spot on and not because the Vegan is bad or it doesnt taste good I'm sure it does but a if you eat meat all your life when something its not you tend to realize it quite fast if you have something to compare with.
This is going to sound out of line but you should try making a burger but put thin lines of flavored fat like a croissant. I think it would give a closer fat to bite profile then regular vegan burgers
Thank you so much!!!!! Im stoked to hear that because I just recorded another one like this haha I've been filming the old style for so long with just minor tweaks that I was struggling keeping up with it and this new style is sparking the creativity again in the video part.
