Rare when developers put effort into live service game but we have seen the potential so i Hope more developers do what helldivers 2 did

Another good thing about the “Battlepass” is that it’s not really a battlepass. It’s more of a permanent expansion to the shop. You don’t need to rush to unlock anything. They are just going to add more on top of it, instead of replacing it soon to force you to grind it.

You should check out Deep Rock Galactic too if you want a live service game where people buy the cosmetic dlc just because they feel guilty not giving them more money than the initial price. It's even like you're still playing Helldivers but with tunneling underground.

Some important notes about the battle pass in HD2, they last forever. You can buy into them by earning currency.

You can also name your ship "Pride of Pride" or "Patriot of Patriotism" 10/10, would die for Super Earth.

The one thing that sold the game for me was the alt dive ragdolls lol

I've played the game for 70 hours, and earned enough to buy the premium battlepass and still have enough left over to get something from the premium shop. And better yet, the game isn't stingy at all (like some titles I could name) about handing you premium currency in-game. I've only got about 30% of my premium currency from the battlepass itself, everything else has been through exploring the map and finding little treasure spots. Helldivers 2 isn't one of those games that goes "well TECHNICALLY you can get premium currency by just playing" and instead gives you a trickle so insignificant you barely register it's there, no. It's very easy to get, it just takes a little bit of time and effort, and the game is very generous when you do put that time in to go treasure hunting in giving you battlepass-currency or premium currency. When you find it, you aren't thinking "FINALLY I found something! Too bad it's not nearly enough to unlock anything worthwhile!" Instead you're thinking "Oh cool, free Medals, I'll have enough to get that new gun I want when I complete this mission."

Helldivers 2 battle pass is one done right. Has incentive and is decently priced compared to other live service games.

The problem, so far as I can see, is that gaming companies don't seem to realize that the Marketing division has one job, to sell their own existence to the rest of the company and the shareholders. IF they stopped investing in marketing bullshit and just made a good game, they'd make a hell of a lot more money.

I love that the whole point of the game is you fight and make the lore, like I’m pretty sure Arrowhead Studios are going to make it canon that Malevalon Creek is basically Space Vietnam and a hellhole

Also, an interesting thing with the battle pass is that the free one gives you 800 credits of the 1000 you need for the premium. And in an hour of trying the game by myself in the easiest smallest maps i got 100 credits. By the time i get the 800 free credits ill already have the rest for just playing.

Then we never saw that Battle Pass style ever, guess why :3 Also, you've forgotten to mention that supposedly, this Battle Pass stays forever, there's no fear of missing out whatsoever!

Anyone else find the irony about the game with a gameplay/story theme of parody of the military industrial complex having a fairer and rewarding system for its monetization along with brining people together under the simple dumb fun of being a cog in the war machine against wave upon waves of enemy combatants? The only live service games I like are the "The Crew" games, and maybe Forza Horizon - because there's something new every week, but it takes only 2 hours to do it, and there's no time consuming battle passes. Other than that I have resolved to completely ignore any and all attempts by games to sell me MTX, use FOMO tactics or make me play when I don't want to. I'm super done with having my free time being dictated by game companies. I want to be able to play games and work on things in games on my own schedule. Truth be told I hardly played any actual live service games, but it's time to stop that.

The missions are super repetitive but theyre always so fun to do and its epic when you extract.

I think its due to the live service stuff is part of the game structure and not just there as an excuse to sell stuff it benefits the game not hinders it , like warframe the paid currency feel like a way to support them rather than a forced system to make more money Im much more inclined to spend a little money if i know the studio allows me to earn everything for free if i so choose too

Live service is one of those words that has lost meaning to me, like people who think anything with dodging and stamina is a soulslike, clearly Heldivers is a souls like with all the dodging and running out of stamina at bad times

The problem with live service games is that they are as difficult to make as mmos, and just like with mmos back in the day, they all ripped off wow and died. Now it's happened with everyone ripping off destiny and warframe, but both of those games were made by veteran studios that had pioneered the genre so of course they knew how to make a good live service shooter. We will eventually get to the point we are now with mmos where a few big games dominate and some smaller ones survive, but there will be a lot of more failures and layoffs along the way.

I have not played it yet but seriously I need to play it soon as possible!

It's good live service because you can grind everything moderately easily.

There are good live service games, there are bad live service games. Easy as that. There is nothing wrong about a game being Live service. For every Helldivers 2, there is a Suicide Squad. For every Warframe, there is a Destiny 2. For every Sea of Thieves, there is a Skull and bones.

I would buy it but my PC would literally melt if I did try to play it. I am considering selling my Switch to try and help buy myself a gaming PC though.

The game would be appealing if you could actually well.. play it to begin with. First I couldn't log in at all, then my character constantly froze in the loading screen of my ship and now I can't join any game or get people to join me on PC.

The term Live Service is both a blessing and curse. It makes piracy challenging but not impossible. Like all forms of code there's vulnerabilities. Live services require one thing, internet access. I'm not going to ignore previous games that are such. Diablo 3, League of Legends, Torchlight Infinite, pretty much any game you have to connect with other people and only other people. Helldivers 2 seems to be that one game that people have fun despite the blunders. I've killed players and been killed by players in combat. I've lost missions. I've played by myself and gotten overwhelmed. Despite this the game is fun. There's a need for more content but for what's currently available it'll keep you busy for a while. Missions have a time limit. This prevents players from wandering the map for too long. I should do a review of this game.
