Hey everyone, it's good to be back! Sorry for not giving you any updates during my break, but I needed to completely free my mind from my online presence. I had to resolve some issues if I wanted to continue making videos for you, but it seems now that everything is going to be ok. I was close to quitting from the whole youtube & calisthenics thing, but now I'm back with new motivation and new goals. More details in the video. Enjoy!
Welcome back Dave. Your handstand video and ring routines worked wonders for me the last few weeks! I follow a lot of calisthenics on RU-vid and your material is by far my favourite and never lets me down so thanks!
I don't care for calisthenics stuff, I'm still subscriber because of your personality! I personally don't train calisthenics, I'm totally into resistance tubes but I still watched and will always watch your videos. You're an awesome person and if you need a break then it's all your decision. It's just good to know that you're still alive, especially since you've mentioned in an older video that you're probably dead if we haven't heard anything from you for longer even though you were joking.
Whenever I watch one of these videos it's always like "Here is the oldest picture I have from when I was really unfit, please don't laugh guys" and then they already have a six pack and huge muscles.
Such a good video. So honest, open minded, humble. Clear and simple thoughts that leads to actions that have the purpose to improve our lives. Thank you for sharing.
who's minds are more open than the animals that were slaughtered to fuel his delusions. No "humble" person would kill defenseless little creatures to achieve such a tiny aesthetically irrelevant difference that clearly goes against everything he's promoting on his right arm
I appreciate your complete openness. Most RU-vid fitness channels will have you believe they're saints and just successful all the time. You got raw with your feelings and motivation levels and made yourself as human as the rest of us. Great video.
Try these techniques together for maximum shredded Hollywood physique. 1. Eat more vegetables and increase protein. 2. Supplement with Creatine (5g a day), Whey Protien, vitamin D, Omega-3, multi vitamin. 3. Intermittent Fasting. Skip breakfast. Eat 2 meals, lunch, dinner, no snacking. 4. Try to count your calories because we eat way more calories than we think. 1 spoon of mayo or peanut butter is 100 calories! There is a simple formula to figure out how many calories we should eat. Your weight x 10. Example: 200 lb. male X10=2,000 calories a day. Basically 1000 calorie meals..x2 meals. 5. Try for at least 30 days, stay consistent.
Wicked gains man. I've started working out and now I'm looking for what to do with my diet. Low carb is something I've always been drawn to, so I think I'll work on that. Thanks for the vid!
@@Tarantino1Dean low carb doesn't work. It's ridiculously hard to do, being vegan or vegetarian is much easier aka high carb, or just eat according to calories like every single fitness influencer does. Diets without a proper understanding of calories leads to failure.
Wow, amazing. I love how you talked about all the phases through out several years. And how you stuck to your goal, even though there was a time when you went through a phase when you wanted to give up. I applaud you for continuing to check in with your body, and how you felt for every phase of food/exercise. So very cool to see and hear, as I am on this journey as well. You are amazing! Thank you, I am so glad I found this.
Great experience video, thanks for sharing, I been experimenting myself with different practices, and had been very confused in the beginning, it has been a slow learning path but thanks to your video I've learned something new, thanks again and keep on going!.
Thanks for sharing your fitness journey! Nowadays, it is quite rare that I listen to people and feel like they are honest but you gave a sense of honesty. Also, your advice makes sense.
but he is a calisthenics athlete for a few years and also he can do a lot of hard skills such as front lever human flag so I think he wants something more
Great advice and authentic account of your personal story. You look great and it's so good too see you got results when for years, you were obviously doing the work. I'll take everything you said onboard. Good luck my friend!
I love how genuine and honest this man is in his videos, it's like a smell of fresh air. Very human. Even though there are no more videos coming out, I still thank you for all the quality information that is stored on this channel :)
high protein is the biggest nutrition lie LOL. You only damage ur kidneys in the long run and you don't lose muscle mass in general, if you don't have an extreme callorie defizit and use ur muscles a little bit.
@@derek4177 can you give me a link to study where is proven that high protein (2x bodyweight for example) is bad to your kidneys. Again in what what context you don't lose muscle mass?
@@ivayloivanov3744 you stated that. Muscles are important for our body to survive, so of course it wants to keep it.......simple logic. So what about you rather show me the study, where you lose muscle mass, at which conditions.........and while you are at it, show me the study which shows that you need so much protein. Protein is built out of amino acids. So you rather need amino acids and not protein.
@@ivayloivanov3744 "everybody knows" yea nice story, that is why you are asking me here or saying u need high protein intake? When you are eating lots of amino acids you obviously don't need a high protein intake anymore........logic, isn't it? I can speak for myself. I am like 90% frutarian, so that means, I eat less than 20g protein per day since 2 years and I went from a untrained body to a pretty trained and shredded body in the past year. Look at these studies, you have to scroll a bit around, but there are many statements. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5962279/ "Impact of High Protein Diet on Renal Function High protein diet, usually defined as >1.2 grams of dietary protein per kilogram of body weight per day (g/kg/day), is known to induce significant alterations in renal function and kidney health.[1] In contrast to dietary intake of fat and carbohydrates, higher protein intake modulates renal hemodynamic by increasing renal blood flow and elevating intraglomerular pressure leading to higher glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and more efficient excretion of protein-derived nitrogenous waste products, while an increase in kidney volume and weight may ensue.[2] The so-called “glomerular hyperfiltration” that is induced by high protein diet has been well reported in both animal models and in different clinical studies in human subjects (Table 1), [3-8] and confirmed in a recent meta-analysis including 30 randomized controlled trials (RCTs).[9] High protein diet associated glomerular hyperfiltration, together with resultant increase in urinary albumin excretion, may have deleterious consequences on kidney and other organs in long term.[1] Experimental studies have revealed that glomerular injury by an increase in intraglomerular pressure and flow can lead to progressive glomerular damage and sclerosis.[2,10]"
@@ivayloivanov3744 oh and when you stop training you always lose muscle mass, not related to your protein intake.........so that is no argument. Obviously you lose muscle mass with a reduced callorie intake and no training........but even with more proteins you lose muscle mass LOL. Indeed, it is so obvious that you don't need a study for this.
Thank you for your honesty man. I tried many things myself to get cut and lean but most things failed me. I will give No carb diet and Keto diet a test and see how it goes
If it is that you have got good muscle mass I recommend that you ether do a fast for a week or cut down your calorie intake by 500 calories a day my preference is a fast
It would be interesting to understand: (1) how calories compare in your current diet vs. calories in your previous approaches, (2) a breakdown of macros (I.e. what is meant by "low carb"), (3) how long you've been on "low carb" (because you mentioned transitioning into it), and (4) details on your training performance and mood going forward, to understand if this is sustainable. I'd love to understand what you're doing a little better! Welcome back and thanks for the video :) PS: I use the term "low carb" to mean "the diet you transitioned into, saw results with, and are currently happy with". It could be low carb, high/low fat, high/low protein, etc. I'm using it to define your current diet more than any particular "style".
Yes, he also mentions transitioning into his "current" diet after seeing the first results. So, how long was it "moderate carb" and how long was it "low carb"? This would be interesting because, for instance, 3 months of "low carb" gives you a better feeling of whether this is sustainable than 1 month.
Oh shit! Ur videos were influencing me to try a vegan diet since it seemed to compliment ur calisthenics training so well. I'm already on a low carb diet with good results going vegan seems like it would make it harder to deal with the carb issue. It's something to consider thank u for the insight Dave looking forward to more videos in the future 😊
keep in mind what might have worked for him might not work for you, and vice versa. likewise, there have also been people that got more shredded and had an easier time losing weight when they went vegan.
I have been on a plant based diet for almost 5 years now and it was great for my calisthenics, but when I tried to build more muscle I started eating a lot of plant proteins and carbs and I got big, but I stopped being Shredded(well I also changed calisthenics for wheights), but consider that I am not a nutrition expert, I have Friends on vegan diets with better bodies than mine, there are a lot of factors to consider, even sleeping
Excellent video! This is the first time I have come across you and I have been very impressed so thank you! I have been advising my patients about low carb diets for a little while and they have been seeing good results in the same way. Many thanks!
Thanks for the real, straight up sharing of your experience and info. Think I too have a tendency to hang to the fat... working on cutting down the carbs--this vid helped reinforce the idea! Appreciate it.
My G, you just entered a caloric deficit, simple as that. Because you are eating a lot of protein and doing resistance training, you are keeping your muscles while loosing fat
Summary of 13 minute video: The diet that worked best for him is basically the Ketogenic Diet. Meat, eggs, fish, nuts, seeds, oils, veggies. Low carbohydrates. Disclaimer: dont do the keto diet long term. Try it for 3 months, then gradually add fruits back into diet.
. Most of the fitness industry is all about good looks that is sprinkled with steroids and lies. You are one of a kind in this industry, respect brother. Keep with the good work.
I look like him on the after picture and I'm 41 and eat just like he now does. I don't count anything. I eat two times a day and fast the rest of the day which is like 16-20h on just water or coffee. It important WHEN u eat and not so much what u eat once on this lifestyle. Your body will tell u when it's full and when it's hungry. Replace carbs with healthy fat is the key also.
@Phil Roberts, it really annoys me when people say this, what do you think breakfast means?....to break your fast .... so if you do it first thing in the morning or midday it is still technically the same thing and you ain't skipping anything you are just doing it at a different time, i have seen this comment many times on youtube video's and is extremely ignorant.
Hi, Thanks for shearing your personal experience. Its a true eye opener, has many of us are probably doing the some things but fail to see the result we are after. Personally, I would use your experience and try out your last nutritional advise.
