What I truly admire about you, Sandra, is your openness to change and to letting others into your heart, even at an age when most people (myself included--and I'm pushing 70 in October, not 80!) have kind of given up and accepted that the rest of my life will be pretty lonely. Meryl? I have been VERY!!!! SINGLE!!! for 12 years now. It's quite enjoyable, I must say. I "resisted" my single-hood for the first three or four years and dated every Lizard (posing as a man) that you could ever imagine possibly existed. Talk about "looking for a nurse with a purse"!?!???!? I never even knew so many "creeps" existed out there. I was very thirsty for a boyfriend from 2010 (when I divorced) until about 2014 (my last date who ended up being married with children and trying to find someone to be his lifelong mistress:-/). Trust me when I tell you that if you don't mind just being happy with having "fur -babies" and other single female friends? Single life is actually pretty amazing and wonderful 👍. I found the secret to never feeling lonely is to cultivate friendships with other (like minded) single women 😁.
You have resigned yourself to being lonely..🥺💔 I have noticed that some women are best suited when in a committed relationship. Others, do best by themselves. I have such a friend. In 2012, I met two young at heart eighty + year olds who had recently tied the knot 🪢 (married within six months after first meeting). They both knew it was right. When the important things are in place, ie issues of faith n finances, there's no reason time to delay. If a significant one isn't in the radar, make life sweet with friends n furry ones. One more thought, keep in mind there are many women out there who although married are very lonely. Learning to be content in all circumstances is a lofty goal. 💕

Don't merge your money. You each have profits from the sale of houses, you can each put half into new home. It is always better to stay financially independent. I have been remarried for 26 years and for the first 10 we were working and each put half into monthly bills. We retired and all my retirement money went to bills, I had to work part time to have any spending money, he had more money than me, yet we never fully merge our money. Now, due to my health we are living apart so I can be close to Duke University Hospital, he would not come with me. He gave me my half of the house so I could buy something here. Money issues can really tear apart a relationship, be careful.

Denise, I am so very sorry that this happened to you. Hightsight really is 20/20. I am a new widow with absolutely no intentions of ever having another relationship. I am soon to be 75 and have learned so much from helping widows at the VA. Some of the stories would bring you to tears. These were women whose husband's had schemed them out of so much money during their long marriages. Sadly, these widows had no idea until their husbands passed away. Their dedicated trust in their husbands failed them. They ended up with nothing. I would never tell a new man in my life anything about my finances. NEVER!! Some will respond with, "It's all about trusting each other." No it's not, it's all about protecting yourself and your assets.

I'm happy dating online worked out for you. I'm 59.5 and I find that online dating for the older men can be a playground for the toxic. They are all nice at first, then you understand why they choose to go online. The enormous amount of attention they can receive and the ability to deceive and reinvent themselves. I have nothing good to say about it except the very young seem to have better success
OMG, are you kidding me!!?? You wanted him to leave after ONE day and now you are going to marry him??? What were you thinking? I am 72, I have been on 2 dating sites and have had no luck at all. I am considered very attractive and intelligent, I am a retired R.N. I think that after 50 and especially after 60 men are just not interested anymore in us! The ones that are, I wouldn't consider if they were the last man on earth. I have been very happily single for 21 years after 2 divorces. It will take a lot for me to get used to being with a man every day. The thought of it makes my skin crawl, actually. Sometimes we are better off alone without all the drama. If I want companionship I have my dog or girlfriends!!!
I’m listening to this for a second time. I noticed you said you remarried quickly after your first divorce. How did you meet Larry? I’ve met many men through Plenty of Fish dating site. After a few dates their true colors come out and they weren’t for me. I met, unbeknownst to me until later, a married man on Christian Mingle. Sandra. I have to share this with you - GOD lead me to you. My soul so desperately needed a Christ centered person to speak wisdom and encouragement. I have now watched a number of your videos - and can’t stop. Especially when you pray and read scripture and make reference to GOD, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit. Where my situation isn’t from my spouse passing away, it is from my marriage passing away after 30 years. There are days that I’m great but there are more days where I’m not sure about tomorrow … if that makes sense. I don’t know how to move forward and find myself in a place I NEVER dreamed of being mentally and psychologically. I ALWAYS prided myself in being strong, but this has shaken me to my core. Wishing you well. For myself, I have no desire to get married ..my husband had a massive stroke in 2006 and died in 2014.. I was his caregiver until he got too sick and then he went into a nursing home but after work and before work and on the weekends I was always there for him and I have no regrets. Your video just popped up in my feed and I am so glad it did. I just lost my husband November 15th, 2021. He was a wonderful Christian man. I miss him but I miss the love he had for me, such a tangible thing that is now gone. I keep moving forward, I have a wonderful church, friends, neighbors. I am very thankful for the 44 years I had but I don't even know what I want. So I am waiting it seems to heal enough to know what I want. Your little bible lesson was spot on. There is too much thinking that God is "trying to teach us something" when really we need to be fighting the enemy. When Jesus was on this earth he healed all that were sick and oppressed. He never once said "I can't heal you because I am trying to teach you something". Thank you for taking the time to post this video.

I don't know what I would do without my Yoga. My father was born and raised in Clarkville TN and I have spent time there. It is a lovely city and it has grow so much in the last few decades. I lost him suddenly 7 years ago and although my life is full with children, grandchildren, family & friends, the hole that was left in my heart will never be filled. The problem with long distance relationships is when you finally meet face to face, you’re forced to be together, especially if the accommodations are to stay in the same house. That’s a very uncomfortable situation when you haven’t had a real in-person dating period. Happy it all worked for you!

Congratulations Sandy I lost my husband of 46 years a couple of years ago. He had brain cancer, 2 surgery chemo and radiation. Within 11mo. He was gone. He was almost 8 years older than me. I don't know that I will ever remarry. I have a lot of my own health issues that I don't want to put on anyone. I can take care of myself but I have a lot of bad days I have Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid arthritis. I don't think I want to burden anyone. My husband took good care of me until he couldn't. Im not sure someone else would be as understanding. I live with my daughter and her family. Im very Happy for you all.
You are a brave gal. I'm glad you found a good person and did not end up a statistic. I'm terrified of dating sites. Yet I've been married almost 50 years so I don't need to worry about dating sites. If something happens and I get left behind, I will get a dog or a cat. :-) When we got married (I was very young....too young...) the minister told us to each give 90% and expect 10%. It sounds like that may be how it is going for you. :-) You found each other in a vast ocean. Don't change him and don't let him change you. Perhaps sometimes you will change together for the greater good, but stay true to yourself and each other. Who knows, maybe someday you will be celebrating your 50th. Who's to say what the future brings. You could be 'pushing 130' someday. 🙂

Tomorrow my husband and I celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary. We met when we were in our late 40's. God has blessed our life. He has walked us through all the joys of having grandchildren, on and on. Ten years ago we went through the most difficult time of my life ~ my oldest son went home to be with Jesus. God has been our constant comfort and presence in our life. With God, all things are possible and trusting Him is the most important thing we can do.
