You have taught me to enjoy caring for my 4c hair. The laziest way to manage 4c hair is to go through your Washday routine , install a protective style , moisturise it once a week , wait 4 weeks and repeat. You can extend the time in your protective style but you will still need to go through your Washday routine every 4 weeks. Do this and your hair will never ever stress you out.
@@ennvee1989 This is when knowledge of your scalp and hair come in. Before I settled on once every 4 weeks I tried once every week, 2 weeks and 3 weeks washdays at least twice to monitor how my hair and scalp reacted. At 4 weeks I have enough buildup on my hair and scalp that the process does not dry out my hair and scalp. Do what works for you. That schedule is when you do the absolute minimum.
My routine: I wash my hair every two weeks and only finger detangle. 1. No prepooo. straight to Shampoo with Aussie moist shampoo, 2. Deep condition (once a month) with protein conditioner (life changer-thanks to GreenBeauty Channel) 3. Moisturize with water, TGIN then grease. 4. Put hair in twists. This works beautifully for my High porosity hair. I usually re-moisturize once a week.
I had a hair appointment last Saturday and my natural hairstylist was impressed that I came with my hair detangled and ready for washing this is after having faux locs for 6 weeks Pre-pooing before washing is super beneficial. When I take showers I have stopped wearing shower caps as well. That is normally when I get my daily moisture spritz of water.
Keeping my hair moisturised has been a battle for the 8 years I've been natural. Finally think I've figured it out though, using plant-based gels. Been using just a leave-in and Camille Rose curlmaker for a couple of weeks and my hair has never been so moisturised. As long as I spritz my hair during the week, my hair is good till the next wash day.
@@FMD70757 I don't think it's fair to say there is something unintelligent about the extended opening, but do you I guess... Me and my home girls miss the extra flair though!
❤ Honestly, "leave-in only" is working well for my high porosity hair as long as it's a GOOD leave-in. I use MICHE. I've been doing this for months-way before the trend. I only use oil for a little shine. I've noticed sealing my hair, even with a high quality oil, makes my hair feel "hard" after a day. It stays soft with little to no oil. YMMV.
I've decided to only use oil once everytime I wash my hair. Since using products with film forming humectants, I've noticed my hair stays moisturised for longer. I use either soultanicals knot sauce coil Detangler or bask & bloom essentials ease leave in. Once I've use the leave in, I'll use a avocado oil and seal with OYIN handmade burnt sugar shine & seal pomade. I don't use avocado oil until the next wash day. I usually wear a twist out and reseal with just a leave in and the burnt sugar pomade (I'm high porosity and have multi 4 natural textures in my hair). My hair has been really soft since I started this hair regiment. I've stopped using heat, limit combs/brushes, oil scalp with aloe vera (with peppermint & rosemary essentials oils). I've also had less single strand knots as well. I wash my hair every 3/4 weeks and do a protein or olaplex treatment every 6 weeks. I can't wait to see what my hair is like next year.
@@cosmicjourney8629 it's good to know I'm not the only one with 4 different patterns and textures! I can't do a complete wash and go because of this😄. I wash and go the type 3c front and pull the rest of the type 4 textures up in a loose ponytail. I usually just set my hair with rods/rollers so I don't have to fuss with it much. I'm glad your regimen is working for you. Just using leave-in, gel or setting foam has been such a welcomed relief from my old "too many heavy products" regimen. I too am going heat free all of 2021 and beyond. My hair feels so much healthier now☀️.
You're a whole mood 🤗 🤗. Yeyyy another High Porosity Natural. I'm so glad i stumbled across your video. I needed to see this because Honayyy i was about to give up on my natural hair. All these different products try this and that and my hair haven't grown. That was me jumping on every trend abd buying every product to the point i don't know which was working my hair so i'm going back to find what work for me and as the saying goes "if it's not broke don't fix it". I've realized too less is more myself. STAY SAFE EVERYONE. GOD BLESS.
I want to give you props for going natural and kicking its ass lol. You do a great job styling your hair and it’s growing and looking beautiful. I’m so glad I’ve been natural 3x and hated it so I’m not tempted to go back but I just like you so I’ll keep watching 😊
I liked these tips! Although I tie my hair in a scarf every night (60 seconds max!) Keep your bonnet on top of your pillow so you take the 3.5 seconds to throw it on before sleep, protect the crown lol ❤️✨👑
I know nobody wants to hear this but as it pertains to the type of moisture you use, porosity does not acc matter. Companies put 'for high porosity' or 'for low porosity' on their product label to sell their products. People with straighter hair types aren't told to buy specific products for porosity. Because the natural hair movement has grown significantly, companies are preying on the discussions and learning we do on our hair and are taking whatever buzzwords we use to describe our hair to sell their products. I think porosity starts to become important when we are talking about product build-up and getting your curls to form a specific shape. E.g. low porosity hair may mean adding a lot less of product at a time for moisture because the hair cuticle only takes a little bit of moisture at a time anyway. So yeah this is a long-winded way of saying porosity doesn't matter when you are buying product loll
Wow, it’s so true! I never thought about that. People with straight hair don’t get bombarded with if your hair is high or low porosity it’s only in the natural hair movement to get us to buy more products. And in a sense, straight hair is the same as curly or coily the only difference is how it grows out of your scalp. So why do we do all these things to our hair and spend so much money when in reality we don’t need them? Companies are profiting from our hair.
@@gabrielacastillo721 Literally!! We really need to start critically thinking about why we are overbuying based on a company that wants to make money. And realise we just need to start from basic haircare practice
I recently changed my hair routine and wash my hair every two weeks but I moisturize them 2 times a week in my twists and I have seen a lot of growth. I do not use a lot of products. And for the For the first time I washed my hair yesterday using only a conditioner and surprisingly my hair was cleaned and moisturized. I think I’m gonna keep doing that because shampoos dries my hair out. Thank you for this video , it was very helpful. 🥰🥰🥰
You look gorgeous, love to see it! Could you please do a head wrap tutorial video here on RU-vid? You can showcase different styles of tying a head wrap.
I feel like the no oil and butter challenge might not be beneficial for high porosity hair. I've got low porosity hair and I've stopped oils and butters and my hair feels less greasy and weighed down and it still retains moisture for a long time because it's low porosity. If your hair loves oils and butter, continue using it. I only tried the challenge because my hair felt so greasy no matter how much I reduced the amount that I put. I basically just listen to my hair at this point.
I'm so fond of you. I was watching a video when the usual 'please subscribe' came your little song plyed in my head! 😄 Oh, and you look absolutely stunning, as usual! 😍💕
I love that « queening’ ! I’m pretty much lazy. Everything is done on wash day and the rest of the week I leave it alone. With time when your far along in your hair journey you realize what works and what doesn’t. I think stinking to this routine for me works.
I’ve learned so much by watching your videos 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 especially the no shower cap part. I was also one of those who didn’t like to trim my ends but now I try to do it when needed and a did see a difference in my hair growth 🙌🏾🙌🏾. Nice video 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾☺️☺️ @Jenn jackson
Low manipulation and hair grease. Also wash days... I’ve stopped using shampoos that tangle my hair. I use shampoo and I double cleanse with Camille rose sweet ginger shampoo and/or Melanin African Black soap. Also I do your 5 steps.
Love the video and advice Jenn. I don't do bonnets I sleep on a silk pillow case and my hair is actually fine. Also I sweat alot in my sleep which is another issue lol but it works for me.
My friend recommended your channel to me. I’ve been natural for almost five years and my hair was going nowhere. In complete frustration I finally decided to cut it all off. Now I’m regretting it since I can’t get a cute style or anything of the sort and I have to start over😭 I tried everything to get my hair to grow until I simply couldn’t anymore. I can’t pull off the bald look. Do you have tips for really short hair? I’m lost.
I started watching this yesterday but got interrupted. I am like your mother who doesn't want to let go of the ends but I did get my scissors and dust them. Thank 😊!
Jenn you look beautiful as always. Love the wrap. Listening to you as to how you grow your hair, but you didn’t mention vitamins. Do you take them? Love the video.
I don't do anything🤣🤣🤣🤣I keep it in twists keep it moisturized and keep up with my trims every 3 to 4 months because my hair is fine so not so much breakage but split ends are just ughhhh😒Im a product junkie though I am trying to break away from that.
