Hey guys! This is how I grew my hair to tailbone length. It definitely took a while, and a bunch of trial and error but I'm now at a length that I'm happy with.
The RU-vidr I was watching is Chazzzisawesome. Check out her channel, I love her content!

I knew a girl that always had her hair in braids since she was a toddler.. I knew her well growing up also.. she was very dark skin than her complexion and had 4b hair.. like she always had them braided until hs graduation she let it out..her hair was crazy long about tailbone length when stretched..😭 Till this day she keeps them in braids.. notice how many waist length natural strictly keep their hair protected in braids and twists.. I will be doing this for the next 5-6 years😭😂 Wish me luck❤

There are some beautiful short styles with twists. Is your hair trimmed and even without wispy ends? By the time you put on a little lippy and mascara, your look will lift. If you are not against it, you can lay your edges for a more 'polished' look. I'm trying to enjoy my hair at every stage. I know it's challenging but maybe if you start of with freshly cut ends and a nice shape you will see a massive difference and won't need to add hair. Just thought I would offer a perspective. Enjoy your hair journey and a Happy News Year

I get a lot more shedding and knots when I wear my hair in twists. Didn’t put two and two together that twists are a great way to start dreads, so that’s what it felt like my hair was trying to do every 2-3 weeks. Braiding my hair without extensions keeps my hair stretched and moisturized.

i appreciate these tips for protective styling with your own hair because i'm a black american hijabi and a lot of girlies in the natural hair community like to use braiding hair for their protective styling or wigs which are beautiful but muslim women are not allowed to add faux hair into our hair, so knowing how to protect our hair without the use of faux hair is SO important! i'm starting a new hair journey routine where i keep my hair in twists most of the time, regularly moisturizing and sealing (and protein + deep conditioning as needed), and trimming split and damaged ends accordingly 💕

Hi!🙋🏽‍♀️ I grew out my hair 4 years ago after Breast Cancer. I had many compliments from strangers about how BEAUTIFULmy hair was. I simply mini twisted 90% of the time and it got to Bra strap length. Recently I decided to get knotless braids to my butt because we went out of town for 3 weeks and I thought it would look cute and easy. I left them in for 6 weeks total. When I removed them...I feel my hair has become much thinner. My edges are ok ..just my hair appears much thinner...but I still have the length. I'm very disappointed. Any suggestions? This is so great and 100% works! One thing I'd also add that someone taught me is that if you wear extension braids, moisturise your braids regularly in the same way you'd moisturise your hair because the braiding hair won't dry out your hair. This has really helped me retain length and prevent knots/breakage when I want to wear kinky twists/box braids/cornrows with extensions.

I can’t use braiding hair either. I’m glad I ran into your channel. I have been searching for someone that uses just their natural hair and no weave or extensions but also wear protective styles. Thank you for this! I just started wearing mini box braids with MY hair, and I’ve already noticed a difference in two weeks.

An African women that braids mine and my daughter's hair, told me that if you want thick hair braid it. She said if are looking for length you are supposed to twist it. She stated once your hair gets to the desired fullness from braiding it, it's time to switch over and start twisting it. She also said threading your hair makes it grow as well. She said in her country (Mali) they use it as a natural relaxer. And that over time your hair starts to just grow out straight.

This is so true! I had my hair braided a lot and my hair was thick and my mom was good at blow drying (better than I am). So I had BIG hair. Full. It’s partly bc I got my genes from my mom but also the braiding… now after a BAD haircut for a senior picture it’s not as thick as it once was…. I’m doing twists to get back to a better length 😢

The moment you said your hair loves to tangle you had me STORY OF MY FREAKING LIFE I'd gone natural and my hair grew then I just got tired coz natural products are expensive and I'm lazy tbh! Your length is inspiring though I blowdried my hair after a year and lost a quarter of it. As I write this, I'm sat with super dry dirty hair that hasn't been washed in like 5 months though I swam like 2 weeks ago so I guess that's a wash. But I haven't moisturised my hair in forever. I hate combing my hair as well. So when I do I lose a lot coz tangles, which is in the first place the reason I don't comb it. I was thinking of dreadlocks but I'm not sure that's what I want but I'm over it honestly. Might shave y'know. Urghhhhhh. It's not that deep but it is still.

Yup! Flat twist under a wig gives amazing growth (or under a hat) Moisturize with black castor oil combo. I have even used Burt Bees rosemary hand cream - bomb. Wash once a month. My hair grew crazy fast! After about 2-3 weeks I will twist out (no comb!) and moisturize with coconut oil and the curls are so hot - leave her for about 7-10 days then wash and twist again. 4c hair is like a beautiful, beautiful woman who gets off on & flourishes if you have patience, touch her gently and LEAVE HER ALONE for a while, then return with love.

@@lvncsr6166 Hi. I wash, condition{I use dr. miracle often- leave in for 20 min. I have my hairdresser do the twists -bc she's does a perfect job - then a leave-in conditioner & under the dryer -LOW setting for @ 30 min.(optional) & I put a hat on to go home. The twists stay in 5 - 10 days. I take the twists out -GENTLY with my fingers - NO COMB EVER! And smooth coconut oil on my twists. Pushing upward and outward. Rock unique earrings* Your hair will fall in love with you & grow so so fast bc no comb, no heat - just pure love and acceptance. About 3x a week I give her a gentle massage and very, very light tug. Have fun! P.S. There shd. only be two pair of hands in your hair -don't let anyone & everyone touch your hair. NEVER speak negative about your hair. And drink lots of water! Oh folic acid is great, as well as green vegetables. Once per season I will blow dry my hair & I also like this style, also you can really check your growth. xo

Irrelevance I feel like doing low manipulation hairstyles are good too. That makes your hair grow & washing it when necessary. Rice water is good & doing protein treatments to prevent breakage. I have my hair in a braid out & all I do is put on a bonnet at night or in the shower to maintain it. Im going on my second week with this braid out. I stopped stretching my hair every night & it makes my hairstyles last longer. Also it avoids over manipulating my hair when it’s not in a protective style. I seen plenty of people grow their hair with just doing wash and gos. Protective styling is not mandatory to grow your hair long as it’s moisturized & healthy it will grow regardless.

Facts sis! And what a lot people don’t know is that hair goes dormant in cold seasons, so if fall and winter seems like the hair is grows slower--that is because it is! Cold seasons like fall and winter should be about moisture and retaining length and the normal growth speed will pick up again during spring and summer. 😊
