I've been natural for over 15 years and it's only in the last 7 years did I realize I have a curl/coil pattern. I think not looking in the mirror also came in to play. Also, 10 years ago there were not many type 4 naturals wearing their curl pattern out.
Same, and I remember the time I had left in gel and curling activator in my hair, when it came to washing it in hot/warm water it *defined* my curls. Looking back I should’ve have known I was low porosity. I need to try the LCO method in defining my hair and see what happens
@@sonatashinome4672 it's a lovely realization, the very first time is when I did a warm coconut milk w bentonite clay hair mask about 7 years ago. The curls/coils did not stay when dry, but I remember in that moment I was on to something.
watching this while preepooing with a hot oil treatment😜👌in the beginning natural hair can seem like a huge task but after some time and plenty of patience it will just be another part of selfcare. I treat wash day as spa day. Girl I preepoo, do a sugar scrub, manicure and pedicure. It's only one day out of the week so I take my time and enjoy my self and make it all about me. That's what my wash days mean to me 😊 I use design regis olive oil masque, texture id deep moisture treatment masque, and head and shoulders the royal oils masque for deep conditoners. All are affordable for me and get the job done. Every once in a while I will try something new but hey of it works it works. Also the melanin haircare line. My hair soaks it up and loves the ingredients. Love it. Iove heavy products as well. I too have fine coily kinky hair. Thick smoothies, creams and butters my hair loves. Garnier has this amazing curl and treat smoothie and hair butter my hair loves coconut anything sooo I love those two products as well.
@@TashaxMack I do it all. Sunday is my day. I praise the lord on my own time and than I pamper myself for the rest of the day. Sometimes I include my man but for the most part I kick him out just so I can have a little time to me😆✌👌
Succinct version - use products that perform for you 1. Prepoo with oil of choice cover with plastic to reinforce warmth 2. Wet hair applies shampoo wash 3. Deep condition use plastic bag again after 30 minutes rinse 4. Use smoothie of choice 4.
@@ladidodi8912 Thank you for understanding. People always ask me whats so different about my life now since I have kids (I had first baby at 39) and my answer is always the same....everyday is Monday and I miss my music. Now I can add.....so tired of Blues Clues and Bubble Guppies!!!!!!
@@mommymj9529 Girrrrl Listen...😩. They don't even know. Especially when you are a parent who is on top of what your child sees and hears. My kids are 10,11 and 13 so the cartoons were Dora and Bubba Guppies over and over and over again back then. I want to blast my rachet music so bad but I've resorted to putting my Bluetooth headphones on instead. 😂😂😂 They hate having to call out to me so many times before I answer 😂😂😂. #Mommylife
@@ladidodi8912 I can't wait till I can put on headphones. Mine are 3, 19 months and 5 months. So you know what I am going through right now. Its almost midnight here in Atlanta and I am listening to Cardi b please me really, really low because I have to listen out if someone loses a pacifier and they wake up the whole house. I am also getting caught up on Fatal Attraction because this is the only time I can look at my shows.
Yeah, Shea Moisture did change the formula of the Curl Enhancing Smoothie which broke my heart. I have a new love though...The Doux Bonita Afro Balm! I loooove it! It’s a nice light non greasy cream that provides the right amount of moisture and leaves my hair feeling so soft! ❤️❤️❤️
Try Africa pride prepoo? Its a game changer. It will melt your tangles like butter on hot toast. My hair used to tangle hella crazy back in the day and my strands were thick. But as I've gotten older, I have fine strands and it doesn't tangle as much bcus i tend to keep it in twists and i use aloe vera juice instead of water and it keeps my cuticles down. I have a suggestion for you: try to detangle with a conditioner or after you dc or TRY the African pride prepoo? Its a game changer bcus you just slather it on dry hair and your tangles melt. ITS EXTREMELY affordable and your tresses will SING as the tangles slide on out.
I've tried it! I do like it, but I tend to gravitate towards a conditioner to detangle. I didn't mention in the video but I did detangle with a conditioner, I just prefer to part my hair dry and then add product. But the african pride pre poo is definitely a great option!
Shea Moisture’s Curl Enhancing Smoothie is LIFE on my 4c hair! Been using it for years. My hair loved the old formula and still loves the newly changed formula. Both formulas feels exactly the same on my hair, except the old one was a little more thicker, oilier and the nostalgic smell was stronger. Now, the same smell is more mild, less oily and a tiny bit looser. But, other than that it still works. (Along with water and raw shea butter). It smells amazing, leaves hair soft, keeps it moisturized for days and helps me retain length. Thanks, SM!
I'm early! I still love the Shea Moisture curl enhancing smoothie. I recently just did a second big chop, but when my hair was longer I used it in place of gel to put my hair back or up in puffs.
I have fine curly hair bc I’m going through early menopause and it gets super tangled. One thing I’ve recently learned is if I use disposable gloves it helps with snagging and breakage. Even when I shampoo.
your hair in the beginning of the video is exactly my hair type. Since we have similar hair types, in sure my hair will grow to your length one day!! Btw I'm very young so if I follow your hair routines for few years um probs gonna get supa long hair like you!!!! ❤❤❤
I love coconut oil but I never put it on my scalp because it makes it itch so so bad. I do however use it on the length of my hair. It makes my hair so soft and easier to detangle.
i use hair grease and it works amazing for my moisture retention, definition, and length retention, it minimizes my single strand knots and detangling is way easier :) i have fine dense 4c hair with some 4b. high porosity, it works the same for my low porosity sister and mother with coarse strands!
My hair never gets that tangled. Better for me in the shower and untangled in like 2 minutes or 3 depending on the style. Also I wash weekly. Not boasting, just know it can be different for type 4s💯
With being as careful as you are with detangling, do you ever accidently break a hair or two during the process? I ask because my hair tangles easily and I cringe when I snap a strand with being really careful.
Yeah, that happens all the time with my hair... it's pretty inevitable. If your hair is similar to hers, I would keep it stretched as much as possible.
For cheap good deep conditioners you should try the africas best hair mayonaise ($3.97) for a protein treatment and the aussie miracle moist/7 in 1 miracle (2.97) for moisture. I've tried both and they worked really well for me🙂
it is so amazing how you went through them mental side of things. i used to get so frustrated and fake through my hair so hard, hair care is self care and i was just ripping my hair out.
Do you do a hot oil treatment every wash or every few weeks. I wanna start doing them but dunno how often i should? Does it take place of a deep conditioner?
I do them every few weeks really. I have dry scalp so they really help with that. I should do them more often but yea, do them really as you see fit. I wouldn't say they take the place of deep conditioning at all though, but you can apply a deep conditioner first then add oil to your scalp and strands if you want to combine the two, works alright for me that way!
@@XxMercuriiXx yes.you can rinse sea moss several times, then soak overnight..that water will thicken can put that in a jar for your hair. Or in blender add sea moss and fresh water after overnight soak. Blend really fine and silky put in glass with lid keep in fridge and use for two 3 weeks only. Can detangle hair whenever you need. I use as leave in conditioner.
So sometimes the damage can be undone, but sometimes it can't. I wen't to a dermatologist and she let me know my follicles weren't damaged so the hair would eventually grow back. She gave me a steroid injection once but I hate needles and couldn't get myself to keep going back for them. So I tried rogaine for a month soon after that, which did help in conjunction with applying stimulating oils like vitamin e, rosemary, and peppermint. I only apply oils now but will definitely try to keep up with the follicle cream. Like I mentioned, my hair on the right is still thinner than the other side but all that really helped!
I have high porosity hair also. I have massive webbing when I use a product with glycerin or any other humectant that is high on the list of ingredients.
Why don't you use a tangle teezer brushwhen you detangle and wash your hair with some good conditioner and good moisturizer that gives you some good slip
How do you keep your hair moisturized/hydrated between washes. I deep condition every time I wash my hair and my feels moisturized for a couple days but by the time it’s time to wash ( I wash once a week) it’s dry. And I’m noticing breakage on some of my strands. Like, other than deep conditioning and wearing a satin scarf at night what else is there to do???
Chanel A. I’ve done that too and it’s helped in the past but recently, it hasn’t been doing much except making my hair dry (like there’s too much protein).
How about having a moisturizing regimen between the week? I spray my hair with water, apply a leave in conditioner then seal with a buttercream. I skip the conditioner if I’m not wearing my hair loose though. 🤷
She doesn’t need to straighten it 🤦🏽♀️ jeez if u wanna see hair that length straightened then grow out your own hair and straighten it💁🏽... I like her hair in its natural state way prettier and is blessing my youtube timeline💁🏽❤️
Keriana Lewis girl if u don’t calm down and go somewhere, I’m just suggesting a style I think would look nice on her cuz obvi she’s never done it, nobody said straighten it bc it doesn’t look good natural... I think her hair is beautiful too❤️. I just have a thing where if I see someone with long natural hair I wanna see what it looks like straightened at some point. Idk it came across as u were irritated from me asking this but do u see her getting irritated? No so why r u, ain’t even ur hair 🙄 so “jeez” u. Btw I am growing my hair out and I will gladly straighten my hair through the process.
