Another response to this is name a society that has ever favored poor people. The poor in America still live better lives than most of the global population. Hell even 2021 America is a MUCH better place to live than 1980 America. There literally has not been a better time to be alive than the 21st century Western World.

Technology, while awesome because we get to see videos like this, has polarized people and is really the cause of the decline in peaceful discourse today. Also, many of the problems we have today are because of the decisions made right up to 100 years ago. Many small decisions made have caused the mess we are in today. It started with President Wilson all the way to Carter and Reagan. They all made huge mistakes that were seemingly good and ended up being bad ideas.

Yeah, I can totally vouch for you, dude. Organized atheist groups are the nicest, most respectable citizens, doctors, lawyers, teachers, accountants, all walks of life. I used to belong to American Atheists, so I know. Mind you, I got miraculously converted to Catholicism last winter by having a vision, which was immediately followed by a public medical miracle a minute later. We atheists always said that we were intellectually honest and would change our minds if we saw proof. I don't think anymore that they actually meant it, though, but I did. So God had mercy. The ugly liberal protesters aren't actual principled, organized atheists. They're just brainwashed animals, your typical brain dead college kid who doesn't know what gender they are, or the druggie Antifa thug type.

@@lilyw.719, there are evil atheists. An atheist (Craig Stephen Hicks) killed several Muslim students apparently just because they were Muslims. There are atheist dictators. And there are several atheists who are arrogant. There's one who assumed I'm a Muslim, says he knows a lot about religion and what I think and I'll do, refuses to read comments from those who disagree with him, etc. He called me a kid, simpleton, savant, pseudo-intellectual, etc. I assume most probably someone like that won't change his mind. I don't know who are those people who try to forbid the expression of certain opinions. And I don't know if most of them are atheists. I know some atheists and theists join together for some causes. Nevertheless, the censorship and bullying they do are hypocritical. Some churches invited atheists (ex: Sam Harris) for speeches. Yet it seems students and teachers are forbidding discussions and speeches about atheism and abortion supposedly because they might hurt feelings.

They're lone nuts, not principled people who study atheist apologetics and take an academic interest in science. They're just garden variety thugs. I'm finishing up my engineering degree and I have to take a philosophy course as a requirement and it is appalling and politically laced the class is. Even though the state of being a 'catholic' is just a faith based belief in your view, it's also a legitimate identity that people value just as much as people would value their identity as black, white, LGBTQ, Jew and so on. Some and in fact many people view their faith as far more important than anything they can identify themselves with. I'm bisexual, but I'm also a Christian. My identity in Jesus Christ is far more important to me than my sexual orientation. And I feel more hurt if someone criticize my faith than someone being homophobic to me because my faith is something that I value more. But just because I'm hurt by it doesn't justify me being rude and trying to shut down a person who's just sharing his viewpoints by means of speech. We often times see Christians getting mocked when they get triggered by provocateurs like Christopher Hitchens, and yet few people would care to ask if they feel okay about it and if there mental health is affected by it. But when it comes to other issues like race and gender, we feel the need to really empathize with people because it will hurt their feelings. Now, it's not that I'm against empathizing with them, I'm against empathizing and trying to shut people's speech down and supporting bad behavior just because it triggers people. With regards to the idea of should we criticize religious beliefs even if it triggers people? My answer is yes, but we must also apply the same principle with other things such as gender because criticizing concepts and ideas is what our civilization need for survival.

@@christophekeating21 with regards to the idea of 'lgbt ideology' as science, sure, there are parts of it that are actually scientific, like the idea of same sex attraction, people are indeed attracted to the opposite sex, and science can possibly determine that. But just because some part of the ideology is scientific doesn't mean that all of it is. How is a man saying that he or she identifies as a woman scientific? Even if studies would find out that a trans woman's brain for example is more in line with a biological woman's brain, that doesn't mean that somehow this trans woman is indeed a woman.

@@someguyontheinternet2729 the problem with internet comments is we have no clear way to communicate irony. I was parodying the rationalisation of double standards. Someone who buys into the enlightenment categories will always pretend that they are embodying rationality, but there is no such person. It's an act. Science= rational = opposed to "faith" and therefore must be preferred just by "trusting the science" (a.k.a having faith in "scientific" organisations as the clergy of our "rational" "non religion"). Any deviation from orthodoxy is a reason for excommunication, though other words are sometimes used. As the late editor of Nature put it in his article "a book for burning" although we no longer burn books, those who disagree with the orthodoxy would have been burned for the same reason as Galileo's, "it is heresy."

Almost $100 million in donations and most of that has not been accounted for.
