this might be a weird question to ask, but what do you now since you left Hollywood, are you still working or are you focusing on being a full time parent for your kids?
You can tell how healthy mentally Christy is; she explains her mistakes and understands what went wrong and changed her behavior from that. 👍 I'm happy for her.
Break all barriers to reach your dreams. Don't ever let yourself be dominated by the dogma of society. Thank you so much for your prayers and support all this years in industry (movie's) you look cute on your profile pic🤗
I haven’t watched the video yet, but I entirely agree. I’m currently going to school for accounting and it’s ironic that I’m currently in debt 10k to have gained any sort of financial literacy because my parents sure as shit didn’t teach it to me.
Are you noticing she's actually speaking about her self-esteem in relation to the money? It's not about teaching children how to obsess over money from an early age... it's about teaching them to have self respect and realizing money really isn't going to fill any "holes" and it's not going to make them think they're "good enough." Teaching kids to think constantly about money from the moment they're capable of critically thinking is absolutely a recipe for a money-obsessed, stressed-out, and unempathetic adulthood.
@@Highcoleture i'm going to have to strongly agree to disagree with you here. financial literacy is taught to make sure that people don't have such an emotional attachment to money because they'd be able to properly handle what they have, and not have to hoard money or treat it like it's burning a hole in their pocket, and what exactly it can do for you that you don't see right in front of you.
@@Highcoleture i should actually take a step back from my previous comment and ask you what you think financial literacy is, because from your comment i don't think we're talking about the same thing.
We do learn it in high school, its required in order to graduate but it seems like a very boring class so most take it online and cheat on the tests and quizzes, and most who take it in person mess around in class. I regret not taking it seriously when I took it in high school (2018), I took it online cuz it felt useless and didn't count towards my GPA, but now I'm learning how to do it in math class. Growing up at school when we would talk about it they always told us to never spend more that what we have or don't live above our means.
Tia and Tamera mom really set them up. She told her girls in the height of their fame that it doesn’t last forever and to save their money. This is so sad but extremely helpful. Thanks Christy!!!🙏🏾
What you said about mama Mowrey reminds me, kinda, of Jason Weaver's mom (I think that's his name.) He's most widely known for being young Simba's singing voice in the animated Lion King movie. Disney offered him a deal that most of us would say "Yes" to without a thought. His mom thought it over and said no. Instead, she said to pay him through royalties (or something to that extent) resulting in him being paid less at the time, but being set for life with money coming in throughout it for that singing gig he did when he was just a young boy. The clip of him talking about this is somewhere here on YT. Same with one on how he almost ended up getting JTT's voice acting gig for the Lion King, but the contracts had already been signed.
Yes, I remember Tamera and Jason talking about their experiences. Jason’s mom was a singer and knew the deal to make from her experience in the business.
It really sucks that you learn these things at 30 years old and not at 18. And it’s like you’re not even ready to hear this when you’re young lol. The world is so strange. Thanks for this video!
I think for many of us we’re not ready to hear this wisdom at 18 because we weren’t primed for it. My most responsible friends who has healthy relationships with their money were raised with financial literacy at a young age. The rest of us didn’t have money conversations until we started working. By then it’s too late. I’m definitely going to make sure my children have exposure to practical life skills and knowledge from a young age. Taught in age appropriate ways and build them up until adulthood.
@@SL-lz9jr That’s exactly it. If you don’t have proper guidance around then you end up reliving the same patterns. Granted, it’s important for young people to make their mistakes and learn for themselves. At 18, I was really hard headed so I doubt I would’ve even listened. Adults have to gently guide their kids to safe directions. I’m not 30 yet but her story definitely opened my eyes. I’ve been investing and working on my finances since watching. My parents couldn’t teach me that a former Disney star could end up broke, but RU-vid did lol. Sometimes we just have to find the right methods to break the cycles.
I feel like you and Alyson Stoner need to get in touch and talk about various topics surrounding childhood fame/money/other stuff that comes with being in the industry as a kid or young adult. You both are so intelligent and have such unique and amazing insight into these topics. I feel like it could help not only kids who are currently in the industry, but also creative people as a whole.
I just want you to know these videos are AMAZING. It’s not because you’re “spilling tea” it’s because you are expressing vulnerability. These types of RU-vid videos aren’t really a thing anymore. We went through such a superficial RU-vid phase. It is SO refreshing to feel this era of RU-vid coming back. Please keep them going for as long as you feel comfortable to do so. ♥️♥️♥️
They are so well filmed and produced. I'm so glad I discovered this channel after searching for my childhood favorites like iCarly, Lizzie McGuire, Even Stevens, etc.
As someone who grew up watching you I am so happy you made this video . I am 31 and I am just now learning about Finacial literacy and how money should work for you , etc . You never know how many people are going to watch this and learn from your mistakes . Thank you !!!
Same here,, I really wish more stars would do this… I sit back and think about how we’ve seen so many fallen by the wayside rather it be to suicide or drugs, alcohol, mental illness, or being taken advantage of in one form or another. These people literally grew with us and we grow up thinking they are living the life, It’s empathically crushing to know so many stars who shaped us in our youth weren’t being shaped guided and looked after. The pieces start to fall in place more to show the answer to the puzzle of why so many go down dark paths and don’t even come out of it… it’s saddening.. truly saddening…
My favorite mantra is “if you’d have known better, you would’ve done better”. Helps me let things go when regret starts percolating in my mind. We’re only ever doing the best we can!
yes! my moms favorite saying to me is “when you know better, you do better”. we make mistakes but next time a situation pop you are more aware on how to handle it.
“Never let your expectations get higher than your gratitude” & “Go out and enjoy the day, it’s free.” Two quotes I needed to hear desperately. Thank YOU CHRISTY’nnn
This girl was the crush of most teen boys in the early 2000’s (I was one of them) an to hear her say some guy made her not feel like she was enough is mind blowing to me, you never know what people go through inside, I’m glad to see how far she’s came and how open she is with her experience
@@christycarlsonromano An idea for young child actors(actors who start as children) you and actors like this like Shia, Selena, Demi, Hillary Duff should put your heads together and start an agency of sorts that allows honest good people to become guides for child actors, people who sincerely are trained to show them how to be smart with money, time etc., Seriously, think about this, like a teacher...if a teacher reaches one student then they'll tell you they've succeeded.
Wow girl you better keep this real honest content coming... we are living for it. We need it in this social media world where everyone only talks about their successes and say "so what are you waiting for?!" .... it's so much deeper than that, our goals and actions take discernment... thank you for reminding us of that!! love how real you are. Love from Canada 🇨🇦
Why in the world would people tell this woman she wasn't good enough? She's seems so down to earth and amazing, we all live and learn and I appreciate her solid advice and openness to share her life story.
OK. It's like this. There are people who want to dominate you - for various reasons. These people will try to undermine your confidence in yourself. They want to make you dependent on THEM so they can take advantage of you. There are men - who use this method to dominate women - so the women will have sex with them. Here - you have the "We accept the level of love we thing we deserve" syndrome. There's a tendency among women to think that they are not worthy of love - and the worst thing you can do as a guy in love with one of these women - is to compliment her on how she is impressive. These women - if they really are really attractive - have people telling them that all the time and they will lose respect for you if you do that. So - what should you do? There isn't anything you can do - except just treat them as human beings (or if your a jerk put them down so you can dominate them). The first - will not get you their pants - while the second might. Here - you need to decide what you value more - the type of human being who is actually a good person (known as a loser to the winners) or a jerk who gets laid more often. Now - IF - you are a really handsome guy - that's different. You don't have to do anything to get girls like this - they are falling all over you. So - it's better to be really handsome - and smart - and rich - and healthy - and ... .
Child actors rarely make it to the same level of adult acting, but from their perspective, they all expect to. It's weird because Christy's acting career is still far better than most other Disney stars and I'm sure everyone still thinks of her as being rich from her acting. I love these honest behind-the-scenes videos. So honest, raw, unscripted and just gets right into it.
You can probably count them on two hands. The big one that comes to mind is Ron Howard. From child actor to teen/young adult actor, to director of many successful movies.
Christy's channel has evolved wonderfully. We love the authenticity and how she gets to the point. Life lessons and beautiful storytelling. Inspiring..really.
It’s so interesting to watch your content. I think we all have this idea that you guys (child actors) have it ALL! However, the struggles you deal with are almost the same as the rest of us. I may not know what it’s like to be a child actor and being in the spotlight. So much respect for you Christie! Just a normal human, wish we could grab a coffee! ✨
So many cuts though... editing her videos is no short task... ill admit its hard to talk/cover everything you want when recording, but still... I am surprised to see some many cuts in her videos.
A few years back I read a book called “The Opposite of Spoiled”, which was written to help parents teach their kids about financial literacy from a young age. I found it super helpful when planning money-related conversations and lessons with my own daughter, so I thought I’d pass it along. Thank you for your honesty and humility while sharing your story!
"Never let your expectation get higher than your gratitude." I've heard a lot of sayings, but this one was new and very helpful! Glad you overcame these really tough life lessons. I'm 34 and only now learning to build from scratch on my own. It's never too late to start over and learn new lessons.
It’s incredible how mentally healthy and emotionally aware she is. That’s so counter intuitive for the typical child star. She’s in a great place despite going through the brutal Hollywood machine.
So relatable. There's so many shoulda coulda would´ves in life. Especially when it comes to finances. Live and learn. I also think the best thing you can do is try to teach younger generations not to make the same mistakes.
Yupp I agree !!! I was just thinking back like how much time and money i wasted and how I messed up my credit and now I’m almost 30 tryna get my life together
People tend to forget that acting is a very unstable career - each job is an individual position - it’s always up in the air. You don’t have a constant inward flow of cash - you get paid one gig at a time.
Christy, I value your advice. Your video content is fun and uplifting. I'm a retired Mechanical Engineer, but I've always enjoyed the simple things, and I never stop learning from anyone at any age. Your character (Ren) is an example of good acting, but real life is the most important example, and you're inspiring. All the best to you and your family.
I always thought Macaulay Culkin was a GENIUS for quitting the industry when he was young. He stayed relevant because of it and he’s still in high demand as he only picks an occasional role so that’s gives the hope that he might choose their project.
I never saw the money from any commercials or ads I did. I was in a horrific car accident at 14 resulting in millions in money to me at 18. I don’t have a dime now. I’m so glad you’re preaching this.
Christy, when I thought I wanted to be an actor as a kid, you presented an award to me at some kiddie acting company ceremony. I admired you all throughout my childhood and aspired to be you- auditioning for Disney as well. Now in my adult life (turning 30 this year) I get so much from these videos. Your wisdom is a gift, lady. Thanks for blessing us 🤍

The idea of a "celebrity" pulling back the curtain, so-to-speak is always so interesting. Most of us wonder about the lives of famous ppl and what it's like. This is great content.
When I was growing up watching the Disney Channel around probably the early 2000s Christy is one of the actors/actresses I enjoyed watching most. I'm a fan of her work, but watching more of her RU-vid videos I've really started to become a fan of her as a person and not just an actress. She seems like a genuinely good person and much respect to her.
This is such a valuable life lesson, by none other than Kim Possible! It's heartbreaking how early fame and money brings darkness to innocent souls, but what doesn't kill us makes us stronger and wiser. I just wish you a healthy life ahead 💕
Developing a financial IQ is definitely important. I didn’t learn it until my late 20’s. My parents hard working as they were did not teach me about Financial education. Robert Kiyosaki is one of the many people I learned that from… Glad to see you’re in good health and spirits!
I’ve been loving your recent videos SO much. I’ve always loved your content but lately it’s gotten more real and raw and I like that you get STRAIGHT to the point and there no clickbait. You literally talk about what’s in the title right away and it’s such a relief from other you tubers. Keep doing you and being real!! Your literally a Disney icon ❣️
Mad respect for your openness and honesty. I learned a lot. "Never let your expectation get higher than your gratitude." That's something I think I'll remember forever!
Only someone that has the desire and drive to improve themselves, and HAS gotten better, could talk about sensitive topics like this so openly. You're awesome

I had such a crush on her. She's still someone I look out for, I'm happy to see her pop up in anything. I'm married with kids now and that crush turned into just respect for her craft and for her ability to open up and talk about her struggles. A lot, if not all of us, can relate to making bad financial decisions and the weight that stuff can can put around your neck and the stress that can put on you and your relationships.
Every now and then I wondered what’s up with you, Googled and there weren’t any updates…. So glad you’re sharing your perspectives with us with the vlogs!
This new style of filming yourself casually walking and talking about your experiences is so relaxing. It feels like we are hiking with you. I love the nature background and the ambience for these new videos. It’s so interesting to learn about your personal thoughts and experiences 😄
We’re the same age, and we’ve learned so much of the same things. It’s great to see how you’re doing now, and the love of truth and vulnerability you’ve been showing everyone! It’s so awesome to hear.
Wow I had no idea that so many people our age had zero training in time and money management.. much respect to you for being so open and honest! I hope your life is as wonderful as you have made so many of our childhoods xoxo
Well, get that RU-vid $$$$ 🌠🌠 These days, I actually only mostly watch RU-vid. Sad to say I don't subscribe to anything but I'm happy here on YT. Love your vids 💞💞💞
@@Twitch.lovely_xox I can see how your statement could be misread as you not subscribing to anyone on here lol I misunderstood at first too. I feel you tho, there's not a ton of content creators worth subscribing to but this channel has really been upping the game, it's nice to such genuine and sincere, well thought out videos.
This makes me feel a lot better about being 30, has worked various jobs since 14 and still somehow manage to blow my saving every other year. It can really get you down because you feel like a lot of the hard work you put in was for nothing. Great video thank you.
There’s a show on Netflix called “cooking with Paris” where she brings on high profile celebrities and cooks. Pretty much what you do. Except hers is so damn boring and quiet and awkward. I just kept thinking about how exciting it would be for you to have your own cooking show on Netflix because I know it would be so much fun and interesting like it is here on RU-vid
I’m hoping with Disney Plus that the residuals and almost revitalization of these shows’ popularity is giving you enough to be at the very least comfortable with your kids and yourself!
There was no Disney+ when Even Stevens created they probably don’t get a dime from those shows being sold with that service. Scarlett Johansson and Emma Stone are suing them right now for not being paid for their movies being released this year. I could be totally wrong but Disney doesn’t have the reputation of taking good care of their actors.
@@pamelalansbury94 Scarlett Johannson is suing Disney because of breach of contract. Black Widow was supposed to be a theatrical release only, not both theatrical and streaming. She still got paid tens of millions of dollars, she just got less than she expected
This is definitely becoming one of my favorite channels. The part about making money for yourself, specifically owning equipment... man... that has been such a blessing to be able to produce and have whole streams of income due to what owning equipment allows!
Wow, I had no idea, I truly thought Christy was living the life luxury. I love these honest videos you've been doing lately. I recently had a conversation with my partner about being grateful for the little things we have. Thank you for solidifying that even more, love you C.C.R
I loved watching you on Disney as a kid. I’m now grown with two kids and I so appreciate how candid you are in these videos. It takes a lot to be vulnerable when you’re in the scrutiny of the public eye. Your insight and self-reflection is a breath of fresh air. “Go out and enjoy the day; it’s free.” !
I REALLY appreciate her being honest about her struggles with money. Society loves to only talk about when they're doing great, like people who show off their nice cars/houses/clothes. Society almost never wants to talk about financial struggles though; and sadly, statistically the VAST majority of people struggle with money and do not have a great grasp of how to spend wisely.
'Never let your expectation get higher than your gratitude' I have never heard that before and I will NEVER forget it. Thank you for the Mantra! and welcome to a new Era of 'Christy'.
This video is so amazing! Thank you for your transparency. I am 34 with a 3 year old daughter and just left my career as an attorney that I hated. Unfortunately, I still have a ton of student loans and like you, spent a lot of money that I should have been saving and investing. My goal is to pay off all my debt and invest so I can reach financial independence. I relate to you so much with finding happiness in the simple things now, rather than buying stuff. I can tell by the way you talk about everything how much work you’ve done on yourself. Thanks again for opening up!
I grew up on even Stevens, it’s cool to explore that parasocial relationship between actor and viewer. In some ways, I feel like you really are my older sister. Thanks for these candid talks on life. We’ve all made so many mistakes we’d like to take back, but all we can do is learn and help the next generation.
I think that this series is more useful to young people than anything you've done in the past. Keep it up! I think you're helping people even more than you realize with this
I love her authenticity, transparency, and honesty. And I love that she is giving us honest story times and life experiences of hers that other can possibly relate to all while walking and enjoying nature. Very unique.
These are officially my fave videos. You are being so honest and we see you as a real person and accepting mistakes and learning from it. You're amazing!

i love how these videos feel like we’re connecting with an old friend. they feel so personal and honest. like we’re on that walk with you and just letting everything out. love the videos, Christy!
I really like this direction that you're taking the channel in. Even aside from the fact that I idolized you as a kid and one of my favorite shows, actually two of my favorite shows, you seem like such a down-to-earth and intelligent person and it really comes through in these videos. Thank you ❤️
I can't tell you how much I loved this talk! This is exactly what I want my step-daughter to know but it can be challenging when both her parents didn't grow up with this kind of intentional mindset around money and future-planning. I so appreciate you sharing this message today! ❤
Woow I was just singing your song "Teacher's Pet" the other day, reminiscing on my old fav shows on Disney Channel and your channel popped up! Love the rawness of this video..good to see you're doing well despite everything that has happened!
