Watch me make a jig to cut perfect circles of almost any size on my bandsaw, without leaving a hole in the workpiece. Circles can be easily made with diameters between 250mm and 1150mm and are accurate and repeatable.

Brilliant idea. If I ever get a bandsaw, I'll have to make this!

Nice jig Jamie. Perfect for no holes circles. Effective use of double sided tape (... and doughnuts 🍩) 😁👍

Thanks Suj! The main reason I created it was to trim down the end of an old wine barrel that I don't want holes in so it will definitely come in handy. Thanks for watching!

Thanks! It's definitely an idea that I've already pinched, so have at it!!! But as many others have mentioned, I can see other applications as well. Cheers!

I think circle jigs have been the forerunners for the comp, but each has tackled the problem in a different way which is awesome. Eliminating the central hole is a great option when you need both sides to be schmick! Awesome stuff Jamie, thanks for the entry! :D

Jamie, this is one of the best - if not the best - instructional tutorials I have ever seen! Honestly mate, I was keen to see a circle cutting jig and then when I saw T-Track and bolts etc I kind of lost interest because I thought it was way beyond what I was capable of, but your video was so easy to follow and the fact you showed the elements where you kept improving was a total bonus. Well done mate!
@WoodenItBeGrand

Thanks Ryno! Such a pleasant comment to come along and read, and I like to think that even though this was never supposed to be a how-to channel, some people might get some tips and ideas along the way. To be honest, channels like yours have shown me that including the progression (either the making of mistakes, or discovery of improvements along the way) makes the videos more relatable & enjoyable to watch, so I'll hopefully keep doing this going forward. Thanks for watching!

@@WoodenItBeGrand Oh mate, that is just wonderful to hear. Personally - and the way my brain works, is that seeing the problems and how they were created/solved is much more beneficial to me than just following a 5 step list. Cheers mate!

That's a great jig! I usually just grab a bit of plywood and a nail as I'm too lazy to make a nice jig 🤣🤣 but if I'm ever planning on making a bunch of circles I'll be looking at this for inspiration🍻

Thanks Grant. If the #woodjigs21 challenge wasn't on, I probably would have just used the nail in plywood method too! 🤣 All good. This jig will now hopefully last a lifetime. Thanks for watching!

Simple ideas are always the best, that's a great one, good stuff! I have (if it was cheap and crappy) the same hole cutting tool I've been known in the past to take a hammer or pliers to the teeth, tapping them in or out, in order to get a hole which is marginally bigger or smaller 😉 I'm not saying it's good practice, but as it's a cheaper tool, it doesn't make me feel bad 😂

Best thing about homemade jigs is you CAN adjust them the way you want. And if you mess it up too much, just build another. And there are just so many ways to skin a kangaroo. 🐱 Cheers for the watch!
