In today's videos I fabricate my own fenders and front clip. This took some sheet metal body work which I am just a beginner at. It also involved bondo and paint.
Now get out there and build something!

Little tip for future reference. When using a lot of filler spray the bare metal with self etching primer first. Filler will leach and won’t adhere or rust later.

As for the pin holes those can be corrected with Glazing putty. Once again seal it with primer beforehand. Cleaning everything and keeping it clean is the most important thing when doing body work. Prep makes the paint.

If it turns out that you don't like your fenders you can do what the jeep guys do and make a partial tube fender. You'd just make a template of the wheel arch to make a section of plate to bolt on and then make tube or square pieces to weld on the plate. Also to fill pin holes etc you want a skim coat filler. It is usually different from a knock down type of filler

Not to downplay the rest of this project the least bit, but this part is what I’ve been most curious about

Ive gone back and forth on it a lot, whether Id use sheet metal or fiberglass. I think the sheet metal turned out alright, but it was a ton of work. As a spoiler since youve been around forever, for the hood Im planning on giving fiberglass a go. At that point I’ll know for sure which I prefer 😅 Regardless I can drive it around for a bit without a hood, should be fine in idaho 🤣

Still enjoying the progress, I had title issues with my explorer. My 1994s purchase price was $250 now I'm 3k in and had to get trailer for it (big expense). Always going to refer back to these videos. Thank you for your optimism and sharing your experiences

Another amazing progress video! Wooo! You know, for your first attempt at bodywork, especially something so involved, it came out really nice!! I also hate trying to do bodywork. In fact I downright suck at it, so like your other videos in this series, it's very inspirational. Can't wait to see the finished project.

Gears and tires are the best first upgrade IMO! Good luck on your build!
