Helen, I'm 80 and you frying fish brings back memories of my mom frying fish. In the winter time my dad didn't work so we are a lot of lake fish, fried potatoes, beans and biscuits. Not a lot of money but we never went hungry.

I remember when I first got married my husband went fishing he came home with a fish , the fish was maybe 6-7 inches, he decided to clean the fish in our bathtub , what a big big mess fish scales , guts etc,, all over the bathtub , wall, floor by time he was done I think his fish was maybe 3 inches of meat. After being married now over 40 yrs with him this will always be a great funny memory I will have, although when he did this I could have killed him. I just wanted to share my store . Glad you were able to get out with your grandkids and have a wonderful memory and on tape that will last forever ❤️

This was really interesting. I've never seen tomatoe in Cole slaw before, and never saw flour put on potatoes before frying. I'm going to have to try these recipes. I don't care for freshwater fish, but I do like ocean fish. Your supper looked delicious! Helen, I'm 61 and I can't seem to follow driving directions either. Then I look in the mirror and my shdes are sitting on top of my head. I can't do nothing but laugh. I think sometimes we have so many things on our mind that it makes us forget where we put things. Hello Sweet Miss Helen! I loved watching you fish with your Grandson and your little red headed great grandson. My husband and I fish any chance we get so we enjoyed your video. You sure cast so smooth. You flick your wrist so much better than me. When I was a kid my brother and me used to practice cast for hours in our back yard. I love everything about you and you feel like a dearly loved family member of ours. You are such a precious soul. The other day I remembered what you said about where to buy your glass wind chimes. As soon as I remembered that, my husband and I beat it to Big Lots. I found only 1 but I snatched it up! When I put it up outside to hear it when the wind moved it the sound was like being with Miss Helen at her Georgia place. I'm going to go to another Big Lots further away tomorrow to see if I can find more of them. Mine are in a peacock blue color. i'm from Mississippi and we ate fried fish also...Not so much bass, but catfish...Mom fried it in lard....that was a staple, got it from our hogs after they were butchered for meat...Mom's job was cooking out the lard (fat)....And now it has been reported that a natural lard is not so harmful as once thought....WE made our hush puppies like that, too...only I learned that if you put a dab of mustard in your batter it would make them more tasty.....Those potatoes are called country fries......we batter them , too....Country folk know how to cook and eat well...don't they??

We call the core of the cabbage the stalk. We peel the stalk down to the center and eat it with salt. Love it by itself. I do not have any directional sense and can get lost easily in a building as well as on the road. Love the glove story. You are not alone in losing things every time you turn around. Oh, my goodness, it all looks delicious. I love to bass fish and I love eating them. I usually would batter them in beer batter (even though I don't drink beer, lol) and then add corn meal, flour, and an egg and then deep fry in coconut oil. I'll have to try your recipe, if I ever get any more bass. I live in Colorado, and around here, there's only trout. Enjoyed your video so much. God bless you. -DJ P.S. I've parboiled bass and drizzled garlic butter over it, too. It's delicious that way, also. Some of my family has lived in Calhoun area, so I must have inherited my love for bass. :)
