How I Replaced my BMW N54 Oil Filter Housing and Intake Manifold Gaskets
The BMW 335i had oil, antifreeze, and a mess on the radiator, so it was time to replace the oil filter housing and the intake manifold gaskets. This is a big job and I'm going to show you with an over 33 minute tutorial video for how to replace your N54 Oil Filter Housing.

Best oil filter housing and intake gaskets change I've seen so far, no need to remove the radiator fan. Thanks. I'm doing mines using this step by step video, I'll let you know how it goes, lol. Hopefully I can reach out to you if I have a question.

Torque spec on the oil filter housing bolts is 22 Nm (~195 in. lb.). Kind of an important thing to know to prevent under or overtightening.

People exaggerated this job so much. I think you were the best one that showed this properly & thoroughly. Just a question idk if I caught it in the video but what size torx did you use for all the bolts? That & is there a video of you replacing the oil cooler gasket?

I did the same on my 535xi plus the valve cover replacement anolng with the spark plugs & vacuum lines, no wonder ,it had 183k miles .

An aftermarket short ram intake pipe retrofitted as a charge pipe. Smart.. Did That BOV fit right onto the MAF sensor port or did you have to do make any adjustments?

From what I’ve seen you do need to change the bolts because they are aluminum. When you buy a kit from fcp euro they come with all the needed hardware. Just bought the kit for my e92 and should be here in a couple days.

@@nathanross963 Correct, you are supposed to replace the oil filter housing bolts when you do this job because they're 1-time use aluminum TTY bolts. If you don't replace them, they can't properly hold the appropriate torque.

take the front of oil filter off first for easy access to bottom bolt, also there is enough room to just slide intake manifold back slightly to get hidden bolt, also no need to remove water hose for quick change but good work

What do you do about the coolant you lost? Is it just negligible? Does the system need burping now?

Yes if you lose a significant amount then there may be a need to te bleed the system

yeah, there is literally no space even with the fan out, so yeah it needs to come off

What is the torque foot pounds on the 3 bolts of the OFH?

OFHG bolts: 22nm, OFH Cooler bolts: 19nm, Intake bolts: 15nm

Do you need to drain the oil and coolant for this job?

No not entirely but a little of both is lost so some top up is required for both and bleed the cooling system after.

@@ECPP Thanks! Some people were saying you needed to drain all the oil and coolant. I just changed my oil a week ago and my coolant 2 weeks ago and didn’t want to redo it. Great video!!!
