Future wife?! We're going to have a "how to have a productive bachelor party/wedding" series soon 😁🎉So true that social threats get us all wound up. Viewing things as an experiment takes off a lot of pressure because you're focusing more on the process than the end result. I like that mental board of advisors thinking. Great video, Ali 🙂
Thanks for the excellent tips, Ali! 0:33 - What is Overthinking? 4:32 - Thinking in terms of "Experiments" 5:48 - Thinking in terms of "Expected Value" 7:58 - Fear is Your Compass 8:52 - The Foundation of Consistent Action 10:49 - Mental Board Advisors (MBA)
I received the notification just after finishing writing my daily morning pages where I made a promise to my self to stop over thinking and start the project I wanted to start a month ago. And because of over thinking I kept procrastinating and telling myself I'm still not good enough and I need more time to work on the project, despite knowing that I only get better when I do a certain thing multiple times, but I was afraid of starting anyhow. Thank you so much for this video, it gave me a huge push and made me realize that I won't gain anything by over thinking. Thanks again ☺️☺️
Crazy part about your new video structure is that you’re subliminally making us use the “memory palace technique” to remember the different points as you sit at various places around the office. genius, man. Haven’t seen that done before. 👏
Awesome! Having been suffered from anxiety I know the root cause of it is overthinking to get to the exact outcome when in turn we actually don't have control over our results.
Future wife!!!!! I’ve been celebrating all your milestones through the years and look up to you as an elder brother, and this makes me so happy from the core of my heart ahhhh a massive massive congratulations to you and her Ali! ❤️
I always wanted to start a RU-vid channel and kept overthinking it to the point that I never started until 3 months ago. Now i am glad I’m in the space 🙏🏽
1. Treat new experiences like an experiment 2. What is the worst that can happen if x doesn’t work out vs the best that can happen if it does 3. Over thinking is okay as long as it’s on top of consistent action (back 2 basics)
Your tips are always motivating and inspiring but the sad part is that I know that I can watch all these videos but I will still overthink & procrastinate😭😭💯
I feel very inspired by you, I have been struggling with things inside for a long time, this year I separated from the person I loved the most in my life and I am trying to change
The coincidence is unreal. Was listening to your "Not Overthinking" podcast, and had some "how not to overthink" vids recommended to me. Decided to give one a watch, went down a rabbit hole and here we are haha. Full circle
I was consultant plastic surgeon in Pakistan and currently working as CF in NHS. When I was your age I used to teach and guide my younger co-workers, now I see your video for guidance for me.
I think overthinking is such a big problem and a lot of people often don't know they're doing it or have an issue. I find that meditation helps, also writing things down, but also just having awareness and asking yourself 'why do I keep going back to this? And what do I need to do to stop this thought cycling through my head?'
I am a wellness coach and have all of my clients work in weekly experiments instead of goals. It helps a lot in terms of letting go of feelings of shame or "failure." You can't fail an experiment!
omggg this is my biggest problem. today when i was overthinking so much i thought i might have a psychosis episode, i thought to myself about how this problem messed up my mind. AND now i came across this video!!! this is defo a sign of the universe. thank you Ali!!!
Hi just want to say that many times ruminating is emotionally driven… there can be an uncomfortable feeling and our mind jumps in to try to either make us feel better or dwell on that feeling and feed more into it. So shifting from our mind and into our body sensations can actually be really helpful and grounding and even illuminating. When we ignore our feelings our body often starts shouting at us to get our attention, so just listening to what our body is saying, acknowledging the feelings and fears, can be very clarifying and soothing.
Three things: 1) I really needed this 2) Production quality is top notch, keeps getting better wow 3) Future wife?! Sheesh I’ve been with this channel a long time
Hey Adil, your channel is an absolute ocean of positive knowledge without any marketing and pure bliss. Keep up the great work and content. I love seeing your videos.
I really needed this video badly! Currently undergoing psychological therapy & this video will be a great help to get over my stress & anxiety. Thanks, Ali. ❤️
I see that Ali is trying to move around in the video which makes it more interesting! Ali had tweeted a typeform for suggestions and I had suggested that moving around and changing the background will make the audience wanting to watch the video... Happy to see a change!
Ali my take on overthinking is whatever is going on or is going to happen is just for a short period of time and it ease my stress and helps me stop overthinking
Thnkz brother that's really helpful to me. Bcz last few days I'm over thinking a lot about my higher studies this give me a relief 😌 thank a lot for that ❤️
Thinking of decision making as a sort of EV really helps to put things into the perspective of possibilities of positives rather than the negatives. That actually helped me a lot today.
Ali, you always make the perfect videos when I need them most. I've been dealing with bad anxiety after closing new deals that put me in the best monthly financials I've ever had. However, I do client-related work so everything can go away instantly if I'm not performing well enough. It's really frustrating, like I feel incapable of relaxing and needing to work 24/7 to help me feel comfortable I'll wake up with a good monthly income still.
Emma Gannon's book on Sabotage also explores perfectionism. Through the help of your videos and her book I've finally leaned into the process and started my RU-vid channel!
I loved the background music and feel to this video, it was very calming and great to help keep me in the present moment. It was also great advice but I already knew it would be :) thank you!
Felt weird that this video was only 1080p, but then realized it's only been 22 mins. I will have to come back to this gem when the 4K is done being processed 😂
You talk so fast that it triggered me into overthinking if I have a problem listening and if my ears looks weird and start to wonder what ppl see when they look at my ears. Fml
I love this so much ❤️ ive always overthinked about contributing in class and tis has made my grades be average but now im not afraid, im smart anyways
Amazing Content! Now I'm never gonna lag cuz of overthinking, like I did today. I love that Fear is your Compass part because I always thought it the other way around. I bet you found ways to keep your audience interacted with your video hence the walk. But your videos are always Interactive. Amazing to see you Grow! -Ayesha from Pakistan (Started my Med Channel, inspired by you)
Love the way you formatted this video where you are just causally walking around as for me it sort of helps me stay in tune with the video. The idea of expected value is something I'm going to definitely try to implement because looking back I think if I had use this idea in the past then I would have done a lot more things that I currently have. Thank you !
Fantastic advice! I just applied it 2 mins after I listened to the video. I was so apprehensive about a job role that I might be considered for. It was completely out of my comfort zone and experience. But then I thought it could be a great Experiment! Suddenly my anxiety got replaced by curiosity!
Thanks Ali for this video... the tips you shared are practical and I am going to implement this for my content on my youtube channel. Because even I overthink when I have to post content on RU-vid specially the topics which are not trending but which i love to make
Most of us hinder from expressing our creativity and getting head-on to many things due to overthinking. Managing overthinking benefits us in many ways. Ali this topic is timely. Undoubtedly this will resonate with many of us in the audience
Man thank you so much for the video and the way you explained and helped me to get over it!! thank you so so much! I am pretty now, I will not overthink about getting started with my business now!
The best way to stop overthinking is understanding that no amount of overthinking will lead to positive results. In fact, all it will do is cause more stress and anxiety for yourself, more likely leading to the problem only getting worse.
Really Great Video Ali-this to me, seemed as a Great Video that I honestly liked and felt like sharing to almost all sorta people; keep creating these sorta great vids man
Ali what helped me to stop overthinking was the need to understand the importance of present. One should practice mindfulness and enjoy present moments because that’s what we truly have.
