This is the method I use to drill and tap my hotwheels.Ive used this technique since the very 1st car I tapped and screwed.This is to help guide anyone wanting to know what to buy as far as tools and sizes of screws.Not a tutorial,just a method I figured out that works well for me,to share with you😉 #hotwheels #diecast

These are the tools and parts I've discovered that work well for me.To be clear there's nothing wrong with any different types of tools or size screws you choose to use for your customs.#1 have fun and be safe.😁👍

Can you do a vid on how you mix your createx paint and how to thin it. Please make a vid of you mixing and painting a hot wheel

I myself use a small flathead and twist open the metal tabs, sometimes the break, sometimes they don't. If its too tight for the screwdriver, I use my small hammer and lightly tap it in, then twist it, 1 side at a time, then the back the same way. As far as being easy, im not sure there is an"easy", like you said, the dremel seems to hit the axle and snips suck, plus get ruined quickly. Screwdriver is my method, just make sure is goes all the way down. 👍✌

Thanks so much James,I have been trying that method,but I need to get a decent little flathead that's not a cheap pos😆.I know you are a busy man with those incredible creations you are making,so I greatly appreciate the help👊

I use a screwdriver also. Just be sure not to slip and stab your self with it 😮

Been there Steve😄 ouch.I recently found a very effective dremel style grinder/cutoff sorta wheel,it's a bolt rethreading bit 🤷‍♂️idunno,I saw it and it works great for this.

Just the video I was looking for. The method you used was superior to what i did on the last two I messed up.I bought some 2-56 self tappers from Amazon (100 pieces for $6). I used the same size 1/16 drill bit. I've already broke two of the screws inside the post of the hotwheel but I didn't use oil. But they might work better with a standard tap and oil. As soon as you find out a easier way to remove the tab on the metal bases, you should post a video or share the link because they hard to remove as you mentioned. Thanks for sharing your technique on tapping and screwing your bases on your customs. Have a great rest of your weekend Anthony 😀👍👍🤙

Self tapping is a good idea,but are they fine thread? It would definitely be much easier🤔If the screws are not fine thread I could easily see them breaking or splitting the post,ive never tried,but from what I've seen they look like wood screws and not anything like a true self tapping screw,just listed that way🤷‍♂️The metal is not really tough to drill,so I go easy without oil,but a dab wouldn't hurt,but definitely necessary to tap👍

That's a good idea,but when I looked them up in that size I found tiny wood screws listed as self tapping🤷‍♂️,not sure that would work smooth🤔However a true self tapping fine thread screw could work👍

Another awesome and informative video man and I love how you said this is just how YOU do it and doesn’t necessarily need to be the way everyone else does it. I honestly stopped tapping the holes out I just drill out the rivet and just use the screw to cut threads into the metal because like you said it’s pretty soft. I do need to get some longer screws though the 2mm length ones barely work lol thanks for putting this video out there though! 😎👊🏻🔥
@BullitTonyCustoms
@BullitTonyCustoms 6 месяцев назад
2mm is super short 😳,I think 3 might be the shortest I've used.I don't wanna offend anyone on there ways,just help anyone curious on what I'm using.I never searched for anything when it came to doing this,so I didn't know until making this video that I was using different screws and tool's 🤷‍♂️

Great idea on the screws! Where do you get the tap handle you use? To get the axles out I use a small round diamond bit (looks like a cut-off bit) on my Dremel.

I typically use the 3mm- 4mm in LENGTH most commonly.The 3,s especially if you wanna do 55 gasser fronts posts,or rear silverado bed posts,we both know how short those are😬

The tip I have for taping, is just don't do it. The screws are quite a bit harder than the diecast metal (at least the ones I use are, Stainless screws) So they just self tap, they make perfect grooves with no shavings every single time. You take the screws back out and put back in as many times as you want to or need to .Never messed one up yet and I've done 100's.

I conveniently have a crapload of chrome m2x4, taps ECT. Been doing 1/24 scale models forever, but so much rc lately. Up to 1/10 scale is a blast(pricy but fun stuff) But im sure im going to pull out my Dremel and my airbrush and do something cool.

Awesome video! Question for you, would an M2 x 0.4 thread tap work with the 2mm screws? The M2 x 0.4 makes a 1.60 drilling diameter. Thanks in advance!

Thanks 😁, I have to be honest what you mentioned sounds right,but I've never experienced using anything else than what I've shown in this video 🤷‍♂️.I am using a fine thread tap as well,if that helps.

I'm all about that👍,I feel that's the BEST approach above all,BUT I haven't found a small wheel like I've seen used in so many video's outside the U.S.🤔 The smallest I have barely fits in between the wheels and sometimes Knicks the wheels😕.

Getting the axles out of a metal base car - you need a set of burr tools for your Dremel. carefully grind the retaining lugs away, the steel axles are stronger so with care you can get them out and re-use them

@BullitTonyCustoms
@BullitTonyCustoms 5 месяцев назад
@aoikoch7339 the tubing I use has a outer diameter of 1.5mm .Typical hotwheel axles fit perfectly inside that.
