How John Piper Marks Up His Books 

I knew 1 pastor who would sporadically set out books to give away. I picked a few and was blessed by seeing his notes sprinkled throughout the pages. It challenged me. I thought what a great idea and it helped to open more deeper discussions. I know it is hard to give books away especially for pastors. But I was blessed by this one man sharing his books and his pencil notes. Good ideas in this video, thank you.

Thank you, Pastor. I'm a teacher, and I feel the same way. I can't read anymore without writing and taking notes. I didn't used to be like that, but I am certainly like that now.

I thot I was weird for doing this but if John Piper does it too, well. . . .😊 I also write notes in the front and back of books. My main Bible is loaded with notes in the front and back cover. I also write notes, asterisks exclamation points, question marks, brackets and circle phrases and sentences. I use only red and green ink from a Zebra pen. I also highlight in yellow, blue and green. I've been doing this for nearly 40 years.

Interesting. My own books are covered in notes in the margins. If I have a reaction, positive or negative, to something I read, I will often want to note that down. And if an idea comes into my mind in response to what I read, I will often want to write that down because I might not think of it next time I am reading the same page.

QUESTION PLEASE..... Pastor John uses a mechanical pencil... 0.5mm ..... BUT the complete picture yet lacketh one thing.....what hardness lead? ... this may sound silly or nit-picky but it is very important... 2B B HB F H 2H 3H 4H ? (e.g. I go back and forth between around HB and H but have sort of settled on H) THANK YOU!!

I cannot stand to mess up my Bible with underlines, etc.! I wouldn't be able to read it! The paper is so cheap these days that the highlights run through to the other side. Plus, then every time you read the passage, you're swayed by what you wrote and can't get new insights. At least I can't!
