Agree that an A4 Avant is long way from an R8 but 42K is still a lot of money and I think many people's idea of an "ordinary" car would be something costing more like half that much. Having said that £355 a month repayments for an R8 isn't bad and there are probably a lot of people paying PCP's of that sort amount for much lesser cars. Your R8 is a lovely looking car which I'm sure must be a pleasure to own and drive - if you can afford the running costs go for it! Matt at High Peak Auto's would describe it as a "YOLO" car - You only live once👍

Awesome,love that V10 and the Quattro,but I just bought a Lexus RC-F V8,half that money 4 years newer and if it goes to Lexus once year for service carries a full 12 month unconditional warranty.I’ve got a trade policy but found out that as a trader your own cars are only insured to pay out at bottom trade if written off, I couldn’t take that risk,check your policy👍

Matt Armstrong serviced his R8 and Maserati himself at the same time and the R8 was cheap in parts but the Maserati was craaazy expensive as there was only Maserati original parts available.... I've driven that V10 once but in a Lambo Huracan Evo and it's magnificent... 🤩🤩🤩

I'm lucky to own a V10 spyder and one thing you should warn potential buyers of is repairs. This year I needed 2 front mag ride shock at £2k. A month later at only 41k miles the clutch went and that was £6k………£8k out of my savings in just 2 months. Now this is not anticipated to repeat for a while, although I'm waiting on the rear shocks following suit not too far down the line so budgeting a further £2k. These cars are really attractive at the price and low depreciation, but you have to be prepared for new price parts for a supercar! They are cheeper to buy yes, but they are no cheeper than a new one to repair

I’m a big believer in buying older / rarer cars cause as you say that will likely appreciate and you don’t have the depreciation

I don't know if it's different for a car like the R8, but with a normal car, I found very few places won't give a PCP deal on a car over 5 or 7 years old (depending on provider, most won't do over 5yrs old). So it's unlikely a PCP deal is relevant on a 10yr old R8 (unless as I said its different on a car like an R8). You can generally only do HP or get a Personal Loan on a car of that age.

Regardless of some of the comments, I really enjoyed this and wish I had an R8 like yours tucked away for special days out.

Before anyone rushes out and bankrupts themselves please consider service costs. If the engine grenades in many Supercars you loose all your money. As in literally the cost of the car is cheaper than the cost of a new engine.

Drive it until you get the tvr on the road, then drive that as your weekender and put the R8 in storage and let it carry on appreciating. Future classic 👌🏻

I was surprised first time I saw a R8 in the metal how small they are. I parked my Mk1 Toyota MR2 next to it, and the AUDI was only slightly bigger than the MR2.

Good subject Going to be interesting to see what happens with the higher finance cost and higher cost of living to running a car like this, your quite right with the lower depreciation of a slightly older sports car will help overall running costs depreciation being probably the biggest cost in the past higher finance will make a bit of a dent both in supply as I think it’s got to hit new sales of cars like this and monthly cost going up and people’s disposable incomes coming down Poss not so much the super high end stuff Stoping building them will help there rarity, though there are quite a few out there Your right the 350-500 per month is the sweet spot for finance for something like this though it is a discretionary purchase and prob the first thing to go Very interesting times in the next few years

Lovely car and I understand the logic that you perhaps may get back a bigger chunk of your £12k deposit if you get shot after 3 years, but ultimately for anyone, you need the cash to splash on what is an expensive toy thats used infrequently. You pays your money and take your choices. No one should criticise that.

13:37 I wouldn't be so sure. First, markets do take unpredictable turns, there is nothing certain. Second, even if the value of the car does go up since you bought it, if that car develops serious issues you may be quite out of pocket in the end. I learned that the hard way. I thought I was getting a good deal, 2 years later I was suddenly replacing the engine... and before that I had replaced the water pump, suspension components, engine components, etc... all of which are a lot pricier both in terms of labour and parts when you have a fancy car. Basically, there are plenty of very expensive things that can happen to a luxury/premium car, it is a gamble whether you'll be in profit or loss in the end.

Supercar as a daily driver: I have driven a Monaro (V8 - 5.7 manual) for nearly 12years now! Road tax double yours, Fuel consumption from 5.2 (Snetterton track day to 29.3 (432 mile run). 14mpg urban, and my right foot isn't light.

Future value 1,000,000% The appreciation in value is crazy good. In 5 or even 10 years it'll be worth a quid. : )

Appreciate its similar costs to a new 40k everyday car as you say, however it’s not used everyday. So you’d need to buy another car as your daily? These things are cheap to run if you don’t run them. And hope to god it dosent go wrong.

supercars don't cost a lot to run until they do then they'll bankrupt you lol. My LP560-4 Spyder is now due some front discs and pads, £2400 after recently fitting 4 new tyres.

Work mate has the newer shape v10. I’ve got a Golf R mk7.5 in the drive and the neighbours come out to cut the grass when he comes over lollol. No one gives a toss about mine 😅

I used to have a 2010 Audi r8 v10 which had the older R tronic gearbox and it was a horrible gearbox. Would be great on a track but not nice around town. I have been told the newer s tronic gearbox is much better.

Am surprised at how high your mpg is I have a 2018 mercedes E400, a 3 lite petrol around town it does 17mpg but can get it down to 12 mpg

New to your channel but this video is just insane. If you're paying as you calculated, that's £3000 down the drain on just the monthly payments over the past 6 months for less than 700 miles of driving. Not to mention you're £18000 lighter after three years. Oh, and what happens when the 36 months is over? You gotta fork up 40 grand to keep the car. In essence for most people this means they gotta sell it and hope you get more than 40 grand for it. You say the value's going up, maybe that's been the case over the past few years but I find that extremely hard to believe going forward. We're entering a recession, prices of luxury cars are going to crash sooner or later. I feel bad for the people left holding the bag when the music stops.

PCP is NOT buying a car. You’re just paying for the use of the car. You own NOTHING. Personal contract plans are just leases for private individuals. If you showed an HP purchase figure thats a true purchase as you’d own the car outright at the end of the finance period.

If you get 27 mpg it cheaper to drive than my vw crafter 2021. That gets 30mpg but is diesel so cost more the fill up. The world's gone mad.

My TT-RS trip computer indicated I was doing 40mpg on a long run... Actually filling the tank, resetting mileage, and refilling the tank revealed it was actually doing 30mpg! Don't believe what the trip computer tells you

Depends on a lot of factors, an old Audi is expensive to keep running. This is misleading, no one in the US will finance an old car like this.

You didn't compare the difference between cpc and hp.

What is the cost of transmission service? Is automatic much more expensive in this case than manual?
