@@ZoePritchard hey thanks for responding to me :) yeah hopefully I can not go crazy with money for the next little while. Bought myself some new clothes druing the last week or 2 and that put me back more then I expected. I was bored and decided to do some window shopping and saw some clothes I liked and decided to buy them lol. Also went shopping with a friend of mine a week before lol.

Really love seeing people invest. FYI...You pay conversion fees on wealth simple when buying US stocks. If you don't have time researching companies and looking through their financials etc you can buy low cost ETFs, that's what I do, just keep buying regularly(dollar cost averaging).

Sometimes there is a penalty fee to pay off a loan early ...I found that out with a mortgage ...so make sure to ask with your car loan

Only thing is in 40 years, the $15,000 you will have then will be worth the same value as your $4,400 today. Check back 40 years and see the prices of things compared to today.

You're doing really good! Well done girl! But that $4400 turning to $15000 in 40 years is not so great, because that's equivalent of a 3% increase per year (compounded), and right now inflation is way above 3%, so even if you're not doing anything and getting money which seems really good, the rate in which it increases is not as fast as inflation which means it's eroding the actual value of what $15000 mean in 40 years time. Hope this makes sense, I had to learn this the hard way ~~ Wish you all the wealth on your investment journey! ❤

Most people stick their money in a savings account with less than 1% interest so honestly it’s not that bad. Without investing in high risk stocks you will not get higher returns elsewhere tbh

Just a thought, but if you are earning 0.5% in your savings account and the interest for your LOC is I’m sure more than that, doesn’t it make more sense to just pay the loan and bite the bullet rather than accumulating more $ in interest than you are actually earning on your investment? Maybe I am missing some context/details there but that is what came to my head!

The illusion of carrying a bank balance and disregarding the abstract perception of credit balance is too enticing. The vast majority of people live this way all their life and have outstanding rationalization behind it. A large part of it is the credit driven hyper consumption culture we live. It is “normal” behavior, therefore acceptable. You are correct.

At 9:50 do you realise that is partially incorrect? Let's say your employment income is $50k, and you make $20k from RU-vid. In this case you'll owe ~$7k in taxes on the RU-vid income. Let's say you took $7k of that RU-vid income and put it towards your RRSP. You'd still owe $5k. Putting into your RRSP is not a refund of 1:1 for each dollar you contribute.

@@ZoePritchard True, but there is more to it. Ideally it is better to max out your TFSA before contributing to your RRSP. Optimally you'd like to defer the RRSP contributions until your tax bracket is higher. TBH you'll do very well in RU-vid in the coming years. Contributing to the RRSP then would net a higher refund rate. Not financial advice, just a fellow Canadian.
