Use your savings to pay off the line of credit. It doesn’t make sense to pay any interest when you have the cash. Yes you will have to make the money back to reimburse your savings but you will end up spending less long term because you won’t be paying interest.

This is definitely my favorite series of yours! Eating out is definitely my biggest expense - all added up it is such a big portion of my monthly expenses. I’m def nosy with this stuff LOL but it’s so interesting to hear about what other people spend, especially cause it’s not talked about much.

hey i have that issue too.(plus i wont lie people randomly tend to ask to barrow money from me and it can be questionable on if they will pay me back or not) and this month has just been a more crazier then i expected. not awful but still could have been better.

Zoe, thanks for your transparency! ❤️I love my probiotics, too, but $80/month is a crime! I'm a NP student, and I have strong opinions about the supplement industry. They are overcharging for "nutritional supplements" (often with no proven health benefits). In the U.S., these supplements are not regulated by FDA, either, so there's a ton of variation in quality & concentration of the supplement. I def think probiotics are a great option for people with GI problems, but I promise you there are affordable probiotics out there with the same efficacy as your $80 ones. Go to your local pharmacist and ask about affordable options. There might even be a generic that can be prescribed by your PCP with the same active ingredients (and a smaller price tag).

I would totally recommend for you to come up with a monthly budget! I swear it’s a game-changer because then you know you’re in control of your money and it’s not your spending that controls you. Do not take this negatively but I watch your finance videos and I truly admire your rawness but it looks to me like you’re trap in this cycle of spending unplanned or random stuff and then regretting (maybe not all but some) your actions after. Budgeting helped me to get out of this cycle because then I am forced to be disciplined with what I spend for and how much I should spend. It’s not something that limits the fun in my life like how others view budgeting. In fact, I realized it’s more fun and worthwhile to spend and enjoy your money when you know you are in control of it and you are not guilty about your purchases after because you already budgeted for it. Goodluck and I look forward to the next finance video from you! ☺️

mc cq the thing is it can be tough to sick to a budget i mean i wont lie its helping me out a lot but its like really tough esspasically when you have some habits you know you need to kick(fast food is one for me)
@SarahhhhhET

What helps me too is to cut things out cold turkey (as much as I can ofc). When I want to buy something that I don’t really need, I remind myself that the money I’m saving by not buying it can be used during a special memory without guilt (ie travels, special dinners, dates etc)

Hey Zoe! To answer your question to us in the vid, my biggest transaction in October was a Costco haul. The total at the till is always quite scary but it ends up being so worth it because my partner and I split everything, plus a lot of the frozen stuff lasts until the next month.

Credit is a good way to track spends. Each time I make a transaction I get a notification of the transaction as well which helps me to keep track as well if there's been a fraudulent activity on my card. Where on debit it's harder to track especially if fraudulent activity happens it takes forever for the banks to fix the issue.

Great video! This month I decided to replace all my socks/undergarments (all my old ones were super worn out and ripping at the seams) so I said goodbye to $200.00 at Aerie. I also treated myself to some nice jewelry pieces so bye to another $200 there, this month’s spending definitely went through the roof for me. Yikes definitely need to reprioritize my spending/budget for the next few months.

I have some things that are going to get more expensive in the near future, but my biggest expenses (outside of rent and essential bills) that have been in the past few months have been Barnes & Nobles and various things at Walmart on top of groceries. When I get my next paycheck, I'm planning to keep track of everything I buy for the next paycheck cycle to really own my spending. I have a decent amount in savings for my emergency fund and other Sinking funds, and have been able to make student loan payments. It's just frustrating when your spending habits get in the way of saving more money. I'm also just playing catch up with my finances from Christmas and treating myself around Christmas, so I'm hoping to use a decent chunk of my tax return to set aside money in a Sinking fund for holiday presents so it doesn't hurt my finances next holiday season.
@alienboogieman
@alienboogieman 2 года назад
You're a smart lady so you know how to handle expenses when it comes down to crunch numbers. So say you make $4,000 a month, taking that check hypothetically throughout the next month, you should take $2,000 that goes to all your needs (food, water, shelter, bills.) Then $600 into your savings. $280 into your wants and that would leave $1,120 that should be split in half into other needs and the savings so you never face the days like this one. Those who you love will love you no matter what, you just need to be harder on yourself to be financially secured and in yourself as well. I'm going into managerial accounting as a cost accountant so I'm using that bit to give people a map to their spending. If it's ever to expensive, it be best to look at your vehicle and get one better for gas and maintenance like a Toyota Corolla 2010. Factor your salary and that's how you will keep yourself from debt and paying interest when you don't need to.

I agree with this to a certain extent BUT I think investing on things you use on a daily basis for better quality and function is a smart financial decision! I vouch for a good yoga mat. It makes such a huge difference in your practice! Higher quality mats (like the one from Liforme or Lululemon) have superb grip and can last so many years with daily practice. The cheap mats you mentioned will only last max. a year.

Rather than beat you up (because none of us are perfect), I’ll just tell you a few things that have helped me. 1. Get someone you have to be accountable to. In my case, it’s my wife. Someone to ask, “Wait, so why do you need to buy yet another snowblower? You have two already. 2. Have a financial balance goal. My entire life, I’ve saved money in my retirement account, but that’s it. Retirement rich, “right now” money poor! Any unexpected expense was put on a credit card and I’d pay it off, with mixed results. Now, I like seeing my money market balance grow every month. I pay myself first. I find that it actually physically pains me to make my balance go down, so I only do so when absolutely necessary. You’re in a good place. You’re young and don’t have a ton of debt. Good luck.
