In this video, I’ll share with you how much commission I made after closing my first deal as a real estate agent with a buyer I met at an open house. The reality might surprise you!
Before getting my California real estate license, I joined a successful team in San Francisco to hit the ground running and get as much experience possible. After getting my license, my role on the team evolved to that of a showing agent. In this video, I discuss how I obtained my first client from an open house and what my experience was like getting my first check from a real estate deal.
You should always consider your options when starting your career as a real estate agent. Joining a team is not the only option, but it’s the path I decided to take because of my initial lack of experience and nonexistent network.

I think someday when you mentor someone , you’ll remember that humbling moment, & you won’t treat that newbie unfairly 👍

I been studying to be a real estate agent since I heard about it which was about 8 months ago and I was still in high school, time went by n I sent my letter to Sacramento and I just got qualified and I will be going in to take my state exam next month on the 24. So I been studying watching “prep agent” on yt and seen your comment and wantched your videos, liked them and wanted to ask you for any tips or what would help me to pass my exam and something you would recommend

That’s great! Most successful agents I speak to always say they wish they started younger 💯 my advice is to take a practice test every day or at least every other day until exam day. Write down all of the questions you got wrong on a piece of paper (old school style) since it’ll help you remember. Good luck 🙏🏽

A lot more 😅 last year I crossed the threshold of $15M which ranked me in the top 10% of SF agents. I still have a lot of climbing ahead 🧗

Whyyyy. I'll be making that when I sell my condo listing at $140k after my split. Holy moly. Its a totally different culture at eXp. Insane amount of support.

It was tough starting out but here I am in year 3 and next month I have roughly $90k in commissions coming to me after splits! 🤯 I paid to learn though, that’s for sure..

wow that sucks:/ , I'm a realtor here in Tulare county , planning on moving to LA. I hope the splits aren't as bad over there ....

6 years later I directly represented the owners on the sell side! All worked out in the long run and I learned a lot from my mentor at the time.

I agreed learning cost money or time and most of the time both 😊 Andy thank you for replying, sharing and time you put in to your channel . Very much appreciated .
