If you ever want to hate a song forever set it as your alarm clock sound. Except for Jump by Van Halen that stays amazing even when you get forced out of sleep every morning by it.

If you like a song, two things you should NEVER EVER do with it are: 1) set it as your ringtone, and 2) use it as an alarm of any kind. Why? Because it ALWAYS ruins it. I briefly made "Squadala!" my text alert, and it quickly drove me nuts. Now I just stick to generic tones the factory provides.

Background noise is helpful to some people I guess - I'm the same, I can't really concentrate if there isn't something going on. Usually I load up a playlist of videos on YT that I don't actually care too much about and just let it play while I do something.

Which resolution are you playing the videos at? What are your specs? Internet Connection Speed? It sounds like you have a bottleneck somewhere.

I'm not sure this is a youtube issue. what browser do you use, is your computer slowing down, what's your isp, what kind of modem are you using, many factors can contribute to this. my suggestion is to try using some other computers or different combinations of the other things listed.

I hate to say it but yes the problem is your computer. In order to play the video without stuttering, the video player will play the video on a short 1-2 second delay. This is because key frames take much longer to process than delta frames. The player knows that it's going to take a quarter of a second (or whatever) to process each key frame, but significantly less time to process delta frames, so it puts a delay in the playback. This makes is to that any time lost when processing key frames can be made up before the video is actually displayed, so the video is displayed smoothly. While I agree that it is an annoyance, it's significantly better than not being able to play videos at all. Now in your case, your computer can't handle the video rendering even with the delay, so you get the worst of both worlds: both a delay and stuttering. You can try lowering the quality, but the flash player is notoriously slow anyways. You can try running the HTML 5 player which makes use of your browser's built-in video decoder, which might fare a bit better. You could also try downloading the video and playing it in a native code video player, which will usually perform much better. You lose convenience with that solution though, and it's probably in violation of Google's terms. (For reference, I have a 1.1GHz celeron laptop. It can play 1080p x264 8 bit video and 720p 10 bit video without any issues in VLC, but it has a hard time playing even 480p video on RU-vid)
