I do not understand why everyone that crochets and does markets complain about having other crochet people present. Take note of how many jewelry people are at an event. If you are looking to be exclusive as a crochet vendor ask before you apply. I get your frustration but every event is always a crap shoot. I’m glad you didn’t get 0 sales which can happen. Keep on keeping on.

I get annoyed about it because a lot of the times I DO ask. And I def don't mind being one of multiple crochet vendors, but I'd like the amount of other vendors to be kind of high if there are multiple of us. But if there's only like 40 vendors and 3 of us are all crochet plushie vendors, that's a bit lame. I could see maybe 2 in 40 vendors, but 3 felt like over kill because it was such a small venue that we could all see each other. And the thing about jewelry is, there's LOTS of different styles of jewelry. Fine jewelry, beaded jewelry, magnetic jewelry, that ammo jewelry that's popular, so you can see a line of jewelry vendors, and not see the same product twice. Whereas, in crochet communities, we all share patterns we like, so there's a fair bit of overlap between our items. But generally speaking, I don't mind doing events with people who do crochet clothing or towels/towel toppers because that's ultimately a different product. I just like when the coordinators are mindful of how they're filling out the event, you know what I mean.

YES! So frustrating. I started a local farmers market. She said she was vetting & first time there 16 vendors & THREE were crochet! TWO of us plushies! Obviously just wanted the $$

Ugh, that's the worst. My farmer's market initially told me I couldn't vend there because of other crochet people, BUT then that crochet lady quit going, so I got her spot, but now, I'm seeing other crochet people let in that do plushies too. It's a bit frustrating. I don't mind doing events with crocheters who do wearables, towels, blankets, etc, but if the number of vendors is low, I prefer to be the only plushie person.
