When writing and filming the video I wanted to make a video that anyone could watch and understand. So I decided to say encryption instead of hashing because I felt like most regular people have heard of encryption but not many have heard of hashing. And for the purposes of the video I felt they were so close that in the context of the goal of the video they were interchangable. However, watching the video today I feel like I should have just said hashing. But you know, you live you learn
Sup remember me? I had a doubt in encryptions so wont aes be able to be cracked since the guy who came up with it knows how it works and also wont others know how it works?
Hey Kalle. Just popping by to say hashing is indeed quite different to encryption. In fact, the first part of your description is more about encryption than hashing. There are quite a few differences between the two in terms of its properties, generation and usage. Anyway the main point in the context of your video is that encryption is a two-way function. A clear text you encrypt with a key can be decrypted using the same key. Hashing is a one way function. There is no way to "revert" the hashing process mathematically. As you explained, you'd have to use the same hashing function and try every clear text on it, and see if the result is the same as the result you're trying to decipher. That's where your explanation has a weakness. You talk about dividing by 2. Dividing by two is encryption (and not great encryption obviously, haha), not hashing. Why? Because it is reversible. If you multiply by two, you reverted the algorithm. Also, the result isn't always the same size which is another requirement of hashing functions. I thought I'd leave a small description just to complement your comments. I strongly advise anyone reading this to read up and play around with these concepts using the language of their choice. Those are foundational concepts used in the web, in data structures, in security and more.
The way you explain things is just * chef's kiss *. I'm super excited about the course you're working on! I started reading the Flutter tutorials on your site but I guess something even more exciting is coming our way! ❤
The concept you're describing has more to do with hashing than with encryption. Encryption refers to a two-way function that can be reversed with some key (symetric ór asymetric) whereas hashing however is a one-way function that can not be reversed.
I usually have such a hard time understanding tech videos. Yours are the first I've found that are actually accessible. Seriously, thanks so much for this.
I've been searching for what an nft is everywhere and this is the most comprehensive and in-depth explanation. Your flow and planning is on point too. Great work. Keep it up
I feel like NFT literally is the modern way of selling real paintings where the real painting is a work of art for wealthy people's Ego to own something, but also the replica of that feel like having different Ego to compete with the same content that is fraction of the real thing costs! Well explained:)
Thank you so much for making this video to make a VERy abstract nebulous idea more concrete. I think this is very difficult for people to understand because of how abstract it is but it makes a lot more sense now.
Wow! This was the best explanation of NFT. Now i find it hard to find NFT weird. It makes lots of sense to me especially for those who are rich to the point that they start looking for norms that make them feel special, unique and happy because there’s nothing left they cannot buy so they aim for ridiculously expensive but unique things like a phone made of gold just because not many people can buy them.
I know kalle for about a year. And there are lots of video where missing related to hack. 1. Hacking coffee machine in Mr robot style 2. How to hack wifi 3. How to hack your car 4. Is watch dogs hacking can done in real life(this is not the real title) Those video where really good 👍 and you can do like that kinda topics
Great video man. I have been doing a lot of research on the topic recently for university and you gave me some new things to think about. If I may give any suggestion I would recommend a researche and possibly a video about the enviromental problems that NFT's and blockchain are creating. Shout out from Brasil!! :)
Will we see a sequel explaining how to create NFTs as well? I am thinking more into the DIY process of minting the NFT and writing your own digital contracts, than just using the big platforms like OpenSea or Mintable?
Any possibility of a video on that mouse there at the start? My hand really hurts a lot when using the mouse for extended periods. I've been looking at those vertical/ergonomic ones recently and can't stop wondering if they are actually any good.
I got the notification of a new video and I got super excited because I thought it was the part 2 of the crypto bot video.....major bummer. Are you still planning on that video or you gonna leave us hanging for over a year like you did on the previous stock trader bot? LOL.
so... encrypted algo, is like a fridge, tokens are blocks, someone can sell something and they can earn from it because they put it on a DCS like the NFT you mentioned...... I think I understood lol
Thank you for this explanation! I totally get it now. And how I felt before still stands-you are nuts if you spend $1mill+ on an NFT, but it COULD work out. Not my cup of tea. I do love digital art so I would be interested in owning some nft’s though just to say I did
What happens with the discarded chain 18:37? I mean If I had a token on this specific part of the blockchain and it gets discarded what happens with my coin, or it is even possible to backtrace it?
The problems with NFT I have is that there is many stolen art sold for lots of money. I know two friends who saw their rendered images sold by strangers.
Hi Kalle, Really interesting video. But I want to add something. I don't agree with you totally. We give value to the US $ or Euros or any Fiat money BECAUSE we believe in the Country that create this piece of paper. The difference with NFT's is that the value given to the token only depends on the project itself. There is no government or country that will back up the value of the token. And I personally believe that NFT is an revolutionary Technology, but having more and more people investing in random NFTs projects that only helps early adopters is creating a big financial bubble, and we will have big losers in the end (for those who bought at the highest point). In the end I just want to say that not ALL NFTs projects are valuable, and you have to be careful about where you invest your savings. Thank you for the video, and Enjoy your project
I see what you mean and I think that is something that isn’t totally accurate. Although the whole thing here is really up for debate. Yes, countrues back up currencies or governments do. The question is, how do the goverments or countries back up the value of the currencies? How do they actually do that? They used to do it with gold, but since we went away from that there is actually no difference between a countries currency and an NFT. Because countries/goverments have no real mechanism for backing up their currencies. Other than increasing interest rates and or printing more money. Like the US did in 2020 which is why 1USD is now = 8,6SEK compared to early 2020 when it was almost 10SEK It used to be what you reffered to but, as far as I understand it isn’t like that anymore. They can’t back up the value anymore. Your point is great, and I think we have the same pov of crypto and nfts so I only put effort into this comment since I think you’ll appreciate it potentially. And I would of course appreciate a counter point to my comment as well :)
