man these MR2 rundown vids are so good. my two favourite things on RU-vid/Twitch right now are the Rundown vids and the MR2 Nuzlockes. Did we manage to complete the full Nuzlocke btw?
The best trivia about Plant is the fact that its one of few monster in the series who is canonically considered the strongest monster in the world in 2's entry. Those Scientsit making Muu and Phoenix do be feeling silly now "We dreamed of creating the strongest monster, and its failsafe when all we need to do is to take a weed and paint an anime kawai face on it"
I do love Plant, though I've never been sad that it sucks. Granted, I'm not a competitive player, and as you mentioned the single player experience is very different. I guess I've often been drawn to monsters with unusual designs or game plans.
MR2 Plant is like a full course meal, but everything already has a bite taken out. All of its techs feel a little too weak, after learning about MR1 plant, it becomes glaringly obvious that it was nerfed.
I love Street FIghter 1, it's funny tight inputs on special moves means most people punch the air and struggle. It's great. Funnily enough, check out SF1++ sometime. It's a relatively old mod that lets you select the other characters by holding a button combination when starting the game. Even as overtuned as some of them are (IE Sagat), Ryu and Ken are still the top two characters at high level play due to the invul on their dragon punch. It's amazing. Big fan. Oh, Plant's cool too. Shame it sucks.
Already playing MR 2 for a long time, but cant play it in switch cause cant afford it lol. Yesterday tried raising plant-pixie as first monter, but quite surprise it is a good monster. Event though the moves that usefull are seed gatling and toxic pollen, but both of them are very usefull. Use seed gatling to reduce enemy hp, it may not deal big damage but ut is sharp tech which mean have high crit ratio. It has stable crit ratio, mosly deal crit damage. And use toxic pollen in 1/3 last duration to prevent the enemy using any tech, especially monster with slow guts recovery. But i think this is quite advantage too, reducing chance to use bad moves. But since competitive isnt controlled by the player, it is quite risky i think especially when you only raise the INT. I dont know it can be a good mons or not to competitive playing. But i reccomend using it not as your first monster, cause it need patient to raise lol Its fun to play with plant, kind of underrated
My favorite example of the impossibility of balance is StarCraft 2, the most popular RTS of all time. Even tho no official content comes out for it anymore it gets updated every few months depending on the current meta because the people who play it 1000s of hour will always find exploits. The Zerg players are dominating because the Queens do too much damage to air units, so they debuff the queens but all of a sudden that makes hellions completely useless since their purpose was to deal with queen harassment in that meta. And that’s just one example in a game with HUNDREDS of unit types and potential strats. Turn one dial one way it turns a separate one the opposite way.
hello new to the community. played MR in the 90s as a pleb and would love to learn more about the game. any discord groups anyone would recommend joining?
I love plant even though it sucks. PhlowerTrip's strict 2997 brother has fun abusing all the speed monsters in the JP meta until it runs into the 9-1 matchup that is tank Ripper. (Or the 8-2 matchup that is any other decent tank.) Some of Plant's power techs also conveniently knock it back into the better slots you'd usually rather be in. Root Combo knocks you back to slot 2, and I think both the slot 2 Heavy techs knock you back into slot 3. But the basics and Root Attack leave you in the same slot so your Plant can waste all its guts on them.
