Great job! If I may (as a kart racer of 20+ years): Try to keep your wheel straight and SMOOTH, as few corrections as possible. Don't be afraid to use your front faring/bumper (to keep close and rattle the person in front of you - most overtaking is done when small mistakes are made by driver ahead) and hit the apexes HARD - the kart WILL hold better than you think. Modern karts also do well with trail braking, when necessary. Most importantly, unlike in car racing, if you do not see the kart next to you, do NOT worry about giving room when you approach a corner. The person behind you will shoot any gap you give them and they are expecting you to TAKE he apex, if you have a wheel on them. So, if you have a wheel, you have the corner. Also, since your heart rate will climb (if you let it), try to remain as calm as possible. Calm = smooth & fast. You were quick enough, in that race, to have easily made podium.

G force part is why driving the real thing is something special. I want to see how close simulators can come to that in the future.

Motion rigs are as close as we are getting any time soon unless technology jumps forward a few years

@jonny j With some good motion rig (parallel robot) attached to a karting seat and chassis you can simulate quite precisely the "ass feel" you mention, together with the feel from different terrains, as well as somewhat realistic crashing sensations.

@@TINYHEAD69 The problem is emulating acceleration without speed change. For sustained cornering g-forces nearing 1g there's no way to simulate that staticly (and on Earth), whatever the technology. You could get a little closer to the feeling with some sort of HUGE contraption with a centrifugal machine AND a crazy fast and steady motion rig siting on it and even then it would be not quite it since the gradient of accelerations in your body while the machine makes you turn would be unlike anything...

Hey Jimmy, Geelong is pronounced with a soft g and despite how it's spelt, the e sound is short, not unlike "gif", so like "jilong", with the stress on the second syllable. Cheers

It's weird hearing people from other countries pronounce Australian towns I get they didn't grow up hearing the names like I did and the UKand other European countries have town that I'm not even going to try and say but hearing someone from Europe mispronounce Wagga Wagga or Bathurst or other places is always going to be funny to me.

@@EugenernatorVideos The guy who made the gif called it Jif. Which is weird because the G is for graphics.... Steve Wilhite was weird. But soft G is the sound in General, hard G is for Golf. Hard to believe but true. So he was right.

Same here but imaging the effort of thinking what to say and make it sound funny, also not being repetitive... struggling with it or not, its better to do a simple intro than building anxiety because of it. I still enjoy his videos :)

Loving Kartkraft after seeing it on here many moons ago, as you say inputs need to be perfect - you might see what line you want, but following it smoothly is another story! Just noticed you had the default Kart, you can actually 'buy' the proper ones in game without any racing - and they do kinda differ from one another - might be worth giving a go! Now to see if I can retake my 10th National place on that insane last track!

As I remember it, flicking the kart into the corners worked better on the older 2 strokes that didn't have any kind of clutch on the engine. When I went to Rotax, it didn't work as well, they tended to bog down a little with that style. Took a little while to get used to it but it worked as good practice for moving into cars.

I've raced in a go kart exactly like Jimmy is in real life at that track in the Australian go karting championship and I ended up winning so this video is pretty special to watch 👍 Also I know how it feels when racing season is not on it fucking sucks although if we did drive still in January then we would have the track melting the tyres lmao, great vid

I freakin love KartKraft, and we should see Multiplayer support coming pretty soon, aim I think is late jan / early feb but who knows, so excited for that! I just wanna race my cousin and show him this old dog can still... drive? xD I think this is some of the best sim experience available right now and can only get better.

I made a Kart racing game "Ultimate Godspeed". Everybody keeps modify the race track by placing shortcuts and traps. Its basically a mashup of "Ultimate Chicken Horse" and "Mario Kart".

In VR? Yeah you can turn around. In Assetto Corsa you can even get out of your rig and walk around the virtual car if you have the space.

Did karting (real competition) as a little boy for 2 years or so. Actually raced against Andre Lotterer a bunch of times during that time, which was around 1993, 1993 i think.

I have a full motion rig and do quite a bit of karting irl, I felt that in kart kraft the fast and mid speed corners felt very realistic but the slow speed acceleration and turning zones lack quite a bit of feeling

I wonder what Jimmy's opinion of Kart Racing Pro by piboso is, and how it compares to kfactor physics wise? As for immersion, I've always felt that something that feels natural, and has similar inputs is usually much better and more immersive than something that is 100% realistic.

It's pronounced gee-long, like the letter g+long. And just behind the track is the the greyhound tracks and trotters tracks. It makes me happy that this tracks included, I didn't think my hometown was that important haha

For sustained G-Forces a GS5 seat would go a long way. For peak G-Force spikes you will need to have motion.

kartkraft is an awesome karting sim imo. the only thing i wish is abit more of a planted rearend since it snaps abit much for a racekart. other than that its an awesome game. and it handles abit wierd on curbs.

you can move your seating position more rearwards in the setup screen to fix the snappiness when turning too much. Dont even have to move it that much to get it under control.

Im planning on getting a fanatec base and gear for the xbone one s. Since i don't have a pC yet. I was wondering, can i update the firmware right through xbox console or am i going to have to go to friends house or someone with an actual pc to update it?. Since from what I've been told, with Fanatec, you can't really plug and play right out of the box like thrustmaster. But i want to use fanatec pedals which is why I'm staying away from thrustmaster

AI seems pretty good. It's rare seeing AI in sims that spread out a bit dynamically, overtake aggressively and do some minor mistakes from time to time. Take note, ACC.

@@Cyrenetes yeah, and very few simcades or arcade games support VR. And F1 is a simcade. It is super easy to drive on a controller, even with how TRASH i am on a controller.
