What is this far left corporate buzzword "racial reckoning" that you threw in there? Who's it for? Not me, I was around back then when all of it happened.

i subscribed based on how John handled this conversation. the way in which he disarmed, and forced this guy to define the topic as a starting point is what i want every podcaster, personality to do. thank you John.

Thank you John, for your insight. When this guy started it scared me. Jesus was perfect, men today are not. The Lord and Master of the house is not perfect. They need to work as a team with their wives. I was a very subservient, Christian wife, my ex-husband made a lot of very bad decisions. What I thought or wanted didn't matter, he knew best. I started therapy and left.

As a teen in high school, I once wrote to Bill Clinton, who was president at the time, wondering what to do for friends who had gone down a negative path in life. It wasn’t political. Clearly at the time to have made it to that position, he must have made at least a few good decisions. I didn’t know or care about politics. At all then. But I cared about my friends and I recognized their inherent intelligence, value, and capabilities, which seemed limitless from where we were at: a school which had a good reputation as a springboard into international business leadership. I was terrified for pals they may throw away their opportunities to lead in the future with decisions they were making at the time: Because I’d seen grown ups even accidentally squander or spoil so much amazing ability… and I knew how sharp that razor’s edge could be. You know what? He wrote back. President Clinton. You know what he said? “Set a good example.” Ok. 👍 👌 ✅ Now, I have some negative feelings about that person as a character these days. But that was kind and caring and the advice resonated as sound from wisdom similar to what my grandfather, who’d earned a Purple Heart in WWII would have said had he still been alive at the time. It felt like a grace. I appreciate that and so I share it here. Hope it inspires the same strength. Ironically, against Marxism that Clintons may have helped usher in. So be it. That was like 2 or 3 decades ago. So, right now the son here is so young and won’t absorb much of this politics. Maybe picture the world you want him to clue in on a decade or 3 from now… and then fight like hell to make that happen or protect it. As an American, the choice is literally yours today. But it may be only for a limited time. So make a strong example. Set the one you hope for him and understand he’ll have a completely different battle on a vastly different field. I majored in Economic Security Policy at DU’s Korbel School for Globalization after getting that letter. It was 20 years ago, over 9/11. Just be you, Dad, and set the best example you possibly can. Then ask your son to do the same. No Purple Heart necessary. Let your son see you be brave. That’s all it takes. Don’t isolate him from courage. A schoolgirl girl named Malala Yousef (?) hope I spelled that right - wrote a book about what it was like to get shot by the Taliban for being a girl going to school. You know what the 1st 3rd of the book was about? How her father was known for speaking up for her and her sisters’ rights to education even when it got difficult or unpopular in public opinion. She is now a world famous crusader for the rights of women to be educated and join ranks like Dr., lawyer… author ;o) You know who raised her? Hint - it wasn’t’t the tide turning culture or the Taliban jet town began to get pressured to favor. The 1st 3rd of the book is like about her dad speaking out even when he had to go into hiding away from them to protect her right to education. Her dad. Her dad raised her. Taliban couldn’t’t get to him. She’s alive and well protected now. Incredibly courageous young woman. Wonder who she got that from? You got this, Dad. Culture won’t have as much an influence on your kid as you do. Make sure your kid feels you enjoy them and value them. That’s something culture can’t give them. Be proud of your children and let them see you brag about them. Let them see you work hard and enjoy the rewards with them. They’ll gain confidence from that no stoney friend can give them ;0)

This is amazing biblical manhood and it reminded my of this Bible verse. Let the greatest among you be the servant of all. For whoever makes himself great shall be humbled and whoever humbles himself shall be made great.” -Matthew 23:1-12

Thank you for not denying the reality of toxic masculinity, and thoroughly reframing it!

I hope you “believe in” toxic femininity as well. Why do we frame these topics as something you have to believe in???

I think there’s masculinity, femininity, and then there’s toxicity. Toxicity pervades both the masculine and feminine.

PS try the book: Mighty Dads, by Joan Halum with pictures by James Dean. It’s a board book. Appropriate for your son’s current age. My boys love it! Especially when their dad reads it to them. Love 💕 💗 ❤️ 🥰

Yes serve your family but don’t be a doormat like some men are. Stand firm when it’s for the good of your family even if your wife may not agree. Your wife will respect you for that. It may be later but she will.

@brightpage1020

Agreed. Leadership isn’t inherently bad. Or wasn’t until recently. The aspect that makes it poor, literally devalues it, is corruption.

Submission? Do you mean to give up on life and collect a government check? Good grief, Dr. Delony! "Submission" suggests refusing to take responsibility. You sound like you're dropping down to the APA's level. 🤦‍♂️

🤣 😂 🤪 Dr. Deloney is a podcast produced by an empire owned and run by Dave Ramsey, the personal finance author / guru. Dave went bankrupt earlier in life and then created an empire from what he learned climbing out of it, about discipline and self control. Wrote books about his debt snowball system of paying off debt and helping encourage or empower people to get out of debt. Became an NYT bestseller like a decade or 2 ago and has been public speaking, creating Financial Peace University and helping others avoid the bankrupt fate he had to survive with his wife and young family. These days Dave’s marketing team has created some podcast / RU-vid shows featuring host personalities. Dr. Deloney here is Dave’s answer to the old school bullish Oprah Winfrey personality, Dr. Phil. Dave knows people sometimes make financial decisions from emotional regulation issues so he has one of these emotional psychs in his wheelhouse of financial advisor offerings. Along with one who talks about the professional job market conditions, Dave’s daughter who talks bout home Ec… and a few others, I’m sure. This commenter was addressing Dr. Deloney’s boss, I believe: Dave Ramsey who might also be at least partially responsible foe the blogger Jordan Paige from Fun, Cheap, or Free fame as she credits she and her husband’s success of their empire in part to trying and failing at the strict Dave Ramsey suggestions for saving.
