Biogenic NH3 (NH3 produced by anaerobic digestion) is the best type of carbon neutral ammonia because it is an energy source rather than and energy storage technology. Technology to remove NH3 from liquid digestate already exists. Hundreds of millions of tons of food waste and animal manure are produced every year meaning that there is no shortage of feedstock for sustainable biogenic NH3 production.
