Brilliant video, totally agree with the positive comments, we’ll laid out and presented, avoids the BS rabbit holes you can sink into screaming straight into a show bike build But also love how you start saying this is gonna be simple and by the end you’ve fallen in love with it and say it’s not a show bike ‘yet’. Hope you have more ruck content gonna jump on your page in a second just wanted to say thanks for this video before. Great Job Dude
Thank you so much for the support been close to a year since I have made a video just decided to jump on today and this was my first comment hopefully I can get back into the groove of making them again
Great video. One thing I’d add with the front wheel alignment is that those notches in the front hub are for the Speedo cable, the alignment could be slightly off because you’re running spacers as opposed to the speed sensor.
I look forward to the day when somebody or some shop puts an aftermarket swing arm, wheel and fat/wide tire on a Honda Monkey! Somebody here on youtube has already turned one into a cafe racer and all it needs is the wide tire and chrome rim on the back!
this is a great vid, basically swapping a gy6 from a crappy scooter over to a ruckus even with how to aftermarket parts, will most definitely use this for my ruck..... Also if you didnt notice but your front tire is on the wrong way, directional tire
Dude I’ll buy your OG GET engine assembly off you, I’ve got a 50cc that’s seized. I mostly use mine as a trail bike anyway. Cool video, you planned the parts well.
I'm swapping mine right now just waiting on a shorty shift and I can start assembly. I ordered the wiring harness since I'm not great at wiring . The ruck shop has it for 162$
Great video very keen to get 1 Ruckas or Zoomer in UK in🏴 And I love the kit you used to stretch and lower it Those fat whitewalls and wheels wow Wonder how much to get those part imported to UK 🇬🇧 New following great breakdown Can't wait to see the finished bike btw loved the background music?
11 months on your probably done with your UK build by now but if not, Lee Baker at RuckStyle UK is a great point of call, he distributed for the ruck shop but also has a good relationship with a lot of the other American companies you might want to order from, Plus years of experience.
i see u got nissan maxia my bumper lights not work i replaced the whole light assimbly and still not coming on still can use help me figure it out oh and i replaced the rely switch too
the GY6 is an ok engine. If you get one get the Taiwanese version. Most of my friends have the stock engine 50cc but pimp the hell out of their ruckus. It's still looks nice for rides.
Great video and great bike, it looks awesome, does any one make a complete conversion kit to do this, i have been wanting to do the swap for a long time but i don't like ordering a lot of parts from different manufactures, things always go wrong for me for some reason,( late shipping, back ordered, out of stock etc. ) 👍🏆.
Was your engine a 150cc or a 50cc? If it was a 50 then could you list what Big Bore kit did you use. Found a great deal on a 50cc and wondered if the work would be worth it.
Been working on it for a couple years now stick a new carburetor on there and run perfect orange might need a valve adjustment that's it otherwise you're good
for the CVT set up you might wanna invest a little bit on fly balls maybe get lighter balls there for much better acceleration especially if you are a heavy rider
I don't have any problems with the fat wheel, it's cool looks awesome. However I can't escape the annoyance of the fact that a slightly worn fatty has exactly the same ride instability as a darkside tire and becomes more exaggerated in that direction as is reaches the end of it's service life. Even a normal width motor bike tire has more squarness at end of service than a new darkside. Yet none of Jedi bike masters have any problems with a fat tire. Buy the way darkside tires actually become slightly more rounded with use so the handling actually improves with use.
Yes not to worried about it as cannot corner at all with the bike being so low anyways have to slow down almost everywhere stretch slammed Ruckus is not good for handling LOL
@@zsproshop Lol, I was referring to the latin song at 4:35. Z, Your project is exactly what i've been thinking about. Some might say is a "budget" build but actually is a really smart build. Using a full 150cc scooter as donor is way more cost effective and reliable than upgrading ALL the components of a ruckus. I've seen guys throwing lots of money in upgrading 50cc ruckuses just to end with a scooter that cannot even match a 125cc. Congrats on your build, really nice. Just one question, what kind of fuel pump are you using with the GY6 engine? Thanks a lot
Yes I contacted Drow sports and they assured me this was the way it was supposed to be got a little closer once everything was tight but still about 1/8 of an inch off doesn't bother me too much
Thanks for the info I thought the chuckus harness was the same as any other scooter with the GY6 would still need to be adapted for turn signals and hand controls correct?
@@zsproshop the chuckus harness is just a plug and play thing.its almost identical in location as the factory GET harness.i bought the trike version because it's about 10 inches longer.i get all my harnesses from Cajunmaddog.com .he's always in stock and shipped to your around 120 or less.
The donor scooter was an adventure 150cc Chinese scooter that's about all I can tell you on it just use it for parts just make sure it has a long case 150cc and you should be fine
@@zsproshop nice, I'm planning on doing the same. I'm going to be using the donor harness and splice everything up with ruckus connectors. Any problems you encountered while doing this?
@@zsproshop Awesome! Did you just cut the GY6 connectors from the harness and spliced the original ruckus connectors? And did you have to use original ruckus ECU?
I know LOL I think I am somewhere around $2,000 don't think that is too bad for a GY6 build semi budget build LOL some guys get up there and spend 4 to 5,000 on the swap
I love gy6 engines but it's retarded that anyone would replace a great quality water cooled Japanese honda engine with a Chinese copy.yes its faster but do a real swap and keep it water cooled with an elite 150 or 250 engine
This was just the most cost-effective and easy swap for me at the time Road the thing all summer reason for swap was the hard start in the mornings like I mentioned at the beginning of the video probably just needed a valve adjustment
