There's also literally no scientific evidence cited and it's 100% speculation/theorizing. Landing at the bottom is basically the same mechanics and transfer of momentum as landing on the ground after jumping without an elevator. I'd love to see someone who actually prefers to land on their back or their stomach after jumping from a raised platform. I'll give them a metal board to strap to themselves to simulate the "floor" of the elevator.

Elevators move along the rails which emergency brakes interact with, they fire once the speed is outside of allowed range. Also a wheel that pulls the wires has brakes, if they fail an elevator starts ascending uncontrollably, there are more chances to "fall up" than to fall down.

This was one of the more accurate detailing of how a lift works, however both the lift car doors and the landing doors should have safety switches on them, meaning the lift will not move without all sets of switches being made thus completing the safety circuit. My cousin who use to work in construction in Las Vegas was working on the Bellagio. He’s Samoan & is quite heavy. One of the edge platforms wasn’t built correctly. He stepped on it & went through it. He fell 53 feet. Had a lot of broken bones & things. But if it wasn’t for his weight, it would have killed him.
