This was really helpful. I do have a question though. The bit I'm adding has a dxf file drawing for it. It is seperate vectors. When I'm adding it... it doesn't actually come out the shape I'm expecting. When I joint the vectors I get the correct shape... but the diameter doesn't come out right. What could I be doing wrong? I'm adding a 3/4" diameter bowl bit with a 1/4" radius and 5/8" cutting height
Issue, when you get to the part @ 5:30 when you are putting in a "New" tool the bottom of your tool data base is not like mine. Yours has six boxes" new, copy, delete, new group, import, export. When you click on new" the tool type box opens. Om mine, under tool database, I have icons: a plus symbol and add to group symbol, copy, import, export, remove, none of these have text just icons. Logic tells me to click the plus symbol, but when I do, I dont get a box for tool info to add th etool type, not sure what I am doing wrong. thanks
No matter how many times I try. VCarve refuses to accept my particular form tool. It is a 5/8" Birdsmouth with a 1/4" Shank. If I input the vector as described with the correct parameters it shows up as a regular V-Bit. When in fact it is nothing more that a V-Bit on its side. And the upper portion of the sideways V-Bit can't be inputed into the vector. Do you know of a way to add this particular tool bit to the database?
Ronald can you email me a picture of the tool this way i can assist you better. Sales@digitalwoodcarver.com a tool brand and tool number would help greatly as well
It depends on the bit if it is a tapered ball nose bit the shank dimension goes in the dimension box most all other cutters end mills v bits and other specialty bits the shank is not included the dimension is referring to the dimension of the cutter for those bits. When you're adding a tool look at the graphic to the right and the little descriptions and the little letters describing for dimension the letter d will show whether it's asking for the dimension of the shank or the dimension of the cutter. If it's asking for the dimension of the shank then that number goes in the dimension box if it's asking for the dimension of the cutter then that number goes in the dimension box
Good evening, I'm sending you a picture of this knife that I want to use in Aspire, can you please do it for me with all the details and numbers and send me a photo thank you very much in advance. I will appreciate it!
you will not be able to draw a keyhole tool in the vegetable database when using the keyhole tool you will use a dummy end Mill just for the speeds and feeds when setting up your key hole toolpath you will put in the parameters in that gadget if you have vectric vcarve desktop then you will not use the gadget you will draw the appropriate vectors for a keyhole path using a dummy end Mill but substituting it in your router with your keyhole bit
