How To Adjust A Front Derailleur 

Yesterday I watched the Park Tool video repeatedly and spent two or three hours adjusting, testing, and re-adjusting and even after 20 or 30 times it was still a disaster. Today I watched this once, adjusted the height and line once, and it worked perfectly first time. Simple, clear, and simply superb. Thank you.

I watched about 20 videos on RU-vid on how to adjust the front derailleur and this video is by far the BEST!

I was able to FINALLY adjust the front derailleur on my bike form 2005. The bike still lives! Now for the rear.

I found this video much less confusing than Calvin Jones' 14 minute lecture for Park Tools. Nicely edited and to the point.

This is the BEST video on here for setting the front derailleur! Like many others that have commented here, I've watched several other popular channels as well on how to set the front derailleur but they all go off track once removing the cable tension bolt or shifter adjuster and leave you to wonder at what point do you tighten the lower cable screw, I had to give up and walk away. In less than 5 minutes, pausing the video as I went, it's shifting nearly perfectly.

My front derailleur had seized and it took WD40 and working the parts for a day or two to free it up but then this tune up covered everything. Working great now.

i am having a front derailleur issue, last week it locked up and got stuck on the big Sprocket, the Shifter would not let it Shift up or Down, so i dis-connected the cable turned it upside down took cover off and cleaned the shifter, after doing this it would click both ways like it was Working Right, until i put the Cable back on, i clicked it once and it shifted to the Middle cog, but now it wont shift again up or down, the cable is not Binding up anywhere, i think the problem is in the Shifter itself ? i did take the Front derailleur off and clean it, it moves freely in hand as i test the Movement does not stick,, any ideas ??

It went together easily in less than an hour. ru-vid.comUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.
