We could use more guys like you on RU-vid showing how to rebuild older equipment. Unfortunately we live in a throwaway society for most things, no one wants to get dirty any, ore. Lots of good information, Thanks Lance. By the way, it looks warm there, we just had -40 here in Canada. Keep smiling.
G Day Darren, We just had plus 38 deg C here so I could send you a few deg if that helped. lol. Yes everything is throw away now and people are missing out on the sense of satisfaction you get when you do a good repair. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Interesting, enjoy this series very much, I have been sitting on a Ferguson many hours in my younger days, great to actually see how they function and look inside, thank you👍😊
I grew up in Bundy, been in Gladstone for a while and now down near Hervey Bay. When we bought the house near the bay I was offered the old tractor that the previous owner had. Turned out to be an old Dexta and the similarities between Massey and Fordson of that era are a bit of an eye opener. It's in fairly rugged condition currently but I'd love to restore it one day. Good to know there's spares and knowledge fairly close to home. Nice job Lance!
Very good job getting the whole assembly back to perfect state. I'm sure this little tractor will be a beauty when you get through. Lance, thanks for letting us watch.
G Day Robert, Yes I am putting a bit of effort into it and I'm sure it will be nice when finished. Very close to as new condition. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hi Lance,I have watch a lot but not all of your videos yet, I can't complement you enough, on how detailed they are, after watching lots of videos since I got my Ferguson TEF, it must be over 300 RU-vid videos, yours are by far the most detailed and so simple to follow, THANK YOU so much, and as I say this, I move on to your next video, expect a comment on the next one as well.Cheers.Jimmy.
Excellent Bundy Bear - very informative and you're a great confidence booster for tackling these jobs. I'd order parts from you to support your excellent channel but I shudder to think of the shipping cost to Canada...😳
Always a great video, glad i watched it and now wonder where the shit my parts have gone...this is why it makes it hard to rely on other people when they loose or put stuff away and don't remember where. Also wish my parts looked that good
Hello Lance, thanks for all your fantastic videos. I was just wondering how to change the hydraulic vertical pipe in the housing between the top cover and pump in the tea20. My pipe is excessively rusted and has pin holes in the top side of the pipe that is not immersed in the oil. Is that pipe a sparex part?
Thanks for the advice, I am currently working through my 1952 Ted 20 next job and including sure seals which you have covered is to renew the lower link pins. This means removing the axle trumpets to gain access to the nuts. Just wondering if you have any plans cover this job. Nick.
G Day Nick, Yes there is a video in the pipeline on the pins. You really only need to remove the left hand side, slide the diff centre out and that gives you access to both nuts inside.
Thanks again Lance for your superb videos - I now have a fully dismantled lift cover... the lift cover plate has a couple of hairline cracks where 2 of the bolts that hold the cylinder go through, also all 4 of the lugs on the cylinder have partially cracked off. Is this caused by carry too heavy weights too fast on the 3 point linkage? New cylinder ordered, presuming should get the lift cover plate off to an engineering firm.
Hi Bear , great demos mate , polish up the old bush mechanic. I have recently picked up a TEA20 which needs a lot of love . One of the issues is the hydraulics keep raising without any help , can you point me in the right direction for what might be causing this ?
The TE20 had draft and no position control so you would be slashing and turn around and you are too high for anything, Google the Fergy Positioner I have one to fit but not tried it yet.
Lance, thank you for making these. I successfully stripped down and repaired the hydraulics on my TEF20 based on them. Having reassembled, all works fine, but the "neutral" lift position on the quadrant is about three-quarters of the way forward, not the recommended 2 1/4 inches. Any ideas what's amiss?
Great video! I used this to rebuild my to30 but I missed something some where. the draught won't stay put and keeps slowly lifting the implement. Any ideas?
Hi Lance, Excellent video. A mate and I have been swearing and cursing the designers of the TE20 for the last couple of weeks as we tried unsuccessfully to remove the hydraulic pump via instructions in the workshop manual!! Your clear explanation was a revelation and we will now be able to continue with our restoration and hopefully have not damaged anything during our futile attempts!! Do you by any chance have an index of your videos that can access the various repairs to have issued instructions for? I only came across this one by accident !! Thank you George
Hi Lance, we are well on the way with our restoration project and have a couple of questions which you may be able to assit with. It is a 1940ish TED20 and has a series of 4 small symmetrical holes in the front lower part of the bonnet side panels. Anyidea what these may be for, as there was nothing fitted when we dismantled the tractor. Also, the side metal decals on the bonnet, were these fitted to these early models or did they come later? regards George
I love your show👍. I have a 50hx that has no power at the switch but I can start it jumping the the starter. Even after it starts it will not move. Not sure why, I was wondering if you have ever done a show on this subject? Thanks again
Ill have a look and see what is there but try this. www.queenslandtractorspares.com.au/Store/tabid/91/CatID/2053/Hydraulics_and_Rear_Linkage.aspx That is the starting point on my web page.
Hi Lance watched your videos on rebuilt the hydraulic on a to 20 I have a to 30 I rebuilt I replaced the hydraulic control value mine had a slotted end does the slots have to be in a certain place in the pump
Having followed your excellent video step by step I have finally loosened off the top cover. However, It will not lift off. I have released the valve but the rear end of the cover hits something. The reason for doing the job is that the lift arms are stuck in the raised position . I assume that the crank is fouling on the housing when I try to lift it. Any ideas to release the cover would be much appreciated. If I undid the lift cylinder bolts and freed that off would that be a solution? Thanks.
Hi Lance. Well I took your advice and have had a crack at doing my lift cover overhaul. All good so far. Have a shopping list of parts to punch into the QTS website. Whats the part number for the felt seal or do I just make one up? And what gasket cement do you recommend for re-sealing the top cover back onto the tractor housing (and where do I find it on your website?) Cheers!
www.queenslandtractorspares.com.au is the web, I should have some of the felts this week hopefully. It is often good to ring the 1300 850 097 number and then you can have an instant answer.
Hi Lance, I'm about to remove and strip the lift cover on my FE35 petrol. Regarding the cross shaft bushes; Massey Ferguson's online parts show 2 bushes per side, with an O ring in between. However I can't find the O ring listed as a part in Sparex, or the other parts supplier either. Can you shed some light on this? Thanks, and great videos!!
I was wondering if you have a video of changing a seal on a hydrostatic orbital hand pump. Also if you new who might carry a kit.Mine has only two lines
Hi Bundy, I whatchyour videos for information and motivation. I have a compact tractor a Mitsubishi 180 mt and she is a good old girl, but she is getting old need new cylinder head gasket need to refurbished steering box but the thing that puzzles me and I’m a bit scared of touching is the gear box/diff when I’m going down a hill with no acceleration the gear box and diff make a horrible noise. Not sure if you have much dealings with compact tractors, but thy are the same as big but smaller. Hope you can help. Chris
G Day Chris, The little ones are often easier to work on as they are not so heave etc. The benefit of the compact tractors is that the bearings are all metric so often very cheap to buy. It sounds like you have a bad bearing so I would pull the top cover off and have a look at least.
I am currently not near my tractor away working but I am watching this video. And was wondering would a seized/worn draft control cause my three point to creep up as I’m using an implement . I have had the te20 for two days before I headed to work so I can’t give to much more information.
I have been working on a Mf263 the hydraulic control mechanism is a bit more complex. can you do a video on how to set up and adjust this mechanism. The repair manual indicates some fixtures needed for this set up I can't seem to find them. Any suggestions?
G Day Donald, I have a 135 coming up that may be similar but as for a MF263 not sure. All of the tractors in my videos I buy to work on so unless I can find a cheap one there is not much chance really. P.S I just see your Facebook message.
thank you, I have a 20d that I had 3 point issues, bush hog got stuck and something cause 3 point pump to blow apart. tried replacing pump 2 time since and pump blows a part before 3 point is 3/4 way up 11 to 15 seconds, you have any suggestions?
I recently went to reinstall the top cover. I have found the little ball ends on the control will not fit into the cups on the end of the two long arms? Have you come across this before?
Bundy Bears Shed thank you have bin a big help hope you can answer more questions later like my tractor would not lift my shredder anymore and I gess it's called the control value it looks like a T with a spring and it was broke what made that brake
Hi new to tractor, have 9 at the moment all Fergs but 1 it is a Ford- Ferguson, I would like to know if you can help me with parts for my ford- Ferg. Frank Thomas
Bundy Bearings and Industrial supplies or possibly JA Toft or Wilsons Industrial, I have had mine that long I have forgotten where I got it. It goes a long way.
A guy could possibly make a drinking game of your videos. Maybe a shot every time something hits the floor. Maybe a slug of some fruity drink for every use of the orange grease. Beer for oil. Heaven forbid should a freshly greased part hit the floor.
Yeah I am regular at knocking stuff on the flood if nothing else lol. Mostly working around the camera or looking for a better camera angle. I always say ya not having a go if you are not dropping shit. lol.
