The best on a fire is stuffed mushrooms with lots of garlic and butter and cheese. We call them braai mushrooms in SA. Either sour cream or cream cheese mixed with spring onion is also good. The smokey flavour the mushrooms absorb is seriously insane. My all time favourite on a fire and I'm not even a vegetarian.

It would be lovely if you had the time to make these campfire pancakes. Basically, you make regular batter, add whatever else you'd like in the pancake, pour into rounded tinfoil, and cook directly on top of a campfire, on the wood, fish it out, and viola! A campfire pancake, eaten straight from the tinfoil! Made many a time while camping :) Love what you guys are doing!

Made this the other night using a Serrano Chile and I have to Give Been a Brownie point on the glaze, very tasty. Also made the glaze with Meyer Lemon juice which I preferred, but both tasted great. Kudos Ben and the futbol twins

Grilled chicken quarters. Qhere I'm from we have a grill sauce/ marinade called Chiavettas and it makes for the most perfect grilled chicken. It's a bit on the vinegary side, but its absolutely delicious when grilled over charcoal. And it's even better when you add BBQ sauce at the end and finish grilling it with that so you get a nice, deep flavor combination.

Love to BBQ fish - especially Thai-style: get the fishmonger to gut a whole white fish through the gills/without cutting a slit down the belly, stuff the fish through its mouth/gills with kaffir lime leaves, lime and lemongrass, cover with a paste made from rock salt, flour and water and BBQ. Serve with "seafood sauce" which is a blisteringly hot and sour Thai dipping sauce and steamed sticky rice.
