Acetylcholine is essential for memory, attention, focus, and more. Find out how to boost acetylcholine naturally!
0:00 Introduction: Understanding acetylcholine
0:30 Acetylcholine deficiency
1:45 How to boost acetylcholine
5:38 Learn more about the brain!
Today, I’m going to teach you how to build up the most important neurotransmitter in your brain: acetylcholine.
Acetylcholine is involved in the following:
• Memory
• Learning ability
• Sleep
• Attention
• Focus
• Alertness
• Awakeness
A deficiency in acetylcholine can lead to many different health issues. A common side effect of medications that are anticholinergic is a loss of memory, possibly because they create a deficiency in acetylcholine.
Low acetylcholine is common in certain conditions, including:
• Autism
• Alzheimer’s disease and dementia
• MS
• Parkinson’s disease
The best foods to increase acetylcholine:
1. Egg yolks
2. Beef liver
3. Blueberries
The top nutrients to boost acetylcholine:
1. Vitamin B5
2. Zinc
3. Magnesium
4. Manganese
5. Omega-3 fatty acids
6. A phytonutrient in green tea
Supplements to increase acetylcholine (take one or the other, not both):
1. Citicoline
2. Alpha-GPC
Other ways to take advantage of the benefits of acetylcholine:
• Drink coffee
• Get plenty of sleep
• Support healthy insulin levels

Half cup of blueberries, preferably frozen wild, a day... for a month or so, you can really see the improvement in memory. I tried it! Zinc is in sunflower seeds and if you eat it regularly, within a few days, you can feel vitality jump a notch. I put a table spoon full on my salad or on my oats.

That can explain why Acetylcholine deficiencient people tend to eat more sugar and hence “self medicate” using sugar. Because they observe that taking sugar, they get a kick in productivity but short term (by temporarily compensating ACh , but this pseudo-self-treatment will have negative consequences). So long term ACh deficiency can make the person prone to insulin resistance etc. So in theory, elevating Ach by other means can potentially reduce the habit of taking sugar. (A habit formed by conditioning reflexes (hunger etc) over years).

Getting enough Cholin is surely an important issue. If you consider eating (more) eggs here, just please take also into consideration that eggs are usually high in arachidonic acid, an omega-6 fatty acid. (Don't know if pasture raised eggs here have lower amounts than regular ones, would be interesting to know.) Arachidonic acid isn't 'just bad', it's more complex than that, but could e.g. in certain situations perhaps lead to more inflammation. I think for people who think about adding (more) eggs to their diet it's good and relevant to know that this food also contains this fatty acid, so they can make an informed decision of wether or how much eggs they want to eat.

DR. Berg could you do a video opposite to this on how to lower acetylcholine levels or ways to increase cholinesterase enzymes which the body uses to break acetylcholine in the body. Well there a lot of benefits of high acetylcholine some of us have the opposite problem of having too high levels acetylcholine which leads to overthinking anxiety. I know about some ways to decrease it like avoiding nightshade foods which are high in solanine that interferes with the body 's ability to break down acetylcholine. I also know about limiting high choline foods like egg yolk. However, I wonder if there are foods or certain habits you can do to help the body increase cholinesterase.

So glad you mention choline, but WHY not take both types of supplement? I just added daily CDP to myAlpha GPC, thinking that would increase the benefit!

When I had a spiritual awakening in 2013 it was like having my brain unlocked or upgraded a little like the Lucy film, connected to the ether by the pineal gland or third eye.

People commenting on here, as if Dr Berg is answering them directly, and not the admin team, need acetylcholine!

From your video, can one suggest that testosterone has a correlation with acetylcholine? The reason is because the vitamins and minerals required for testosterone production are the same as that of ACL or they just mimic each other. Kindly advise.

Why doesn't Berg recommend cod liver more often than cod liver oil? I began eating canned cod liver after learning about it from one of Dr. Berg's videos and it's truly delicious!

Yes. I agree, but imagine the price of cod liver 😢😅if everyone was following his videos on this 😂😂😂

@drericbergdc what about autoimmune and people that make an abnormal protein called acetylcholine receptor antibody. This protein interferes with how acetylcholine works. Could it also be from not being able to ‘absorb’ through the tissue the choline and if so what supplements would help with to that? Thank you!

I can narrow his list down greatly. Eat eggs with the yolks preferably runny yolks.
