I love this. It gives some simple, cheap ideas for starter nests instead of having to spend nearly 200 dollars on an antscanada starter kit. Not dissing antscanada, mikey bustos first for me into ants, but his gear on his site is expensive for a beginner. These ideas are great, thanks :)

You can find some pretty nice ones on websites like amazon, ebay and aliexpress which are not that expensive. I found 3D printed nests with built in bottom water reservoir for like $40 and some acrylic and plexiglass nests ranging from $10 to $100+

Thanks a bunch for this tutorial. I managed to find THREE Queens in my front porch, all seemingly mated as I could see wing scars. I've housed all three Queens in test tube setups, and I'm hoping to move them in to this setup after the nanitics arrive.

I never thought about this nesting idea! I was afraid i had to keep my ants cramped in their begining test tube until like 50 workers to put in a fornicarium (which is expensive) but now i can just attach the tube to an outworld and make the small containers with the tubes!

I have a question - would you use a perspec or plastic aquerium for bulldog ants? Im using hebol inside a plastic one with gravel. It has a mesh lid and Im just curious as to whether this will stop them from escaping - i do not want to get stung in my sleep.

Yup noticed this immediately. Also worth noting, drill with small bit, then keep increasing bit size to widen hole until desired size. Or if your dead certain of size, you can get hole drill attachments to do it for you first try at the exact size...

Does anyone have any experience with notostigma foreli, I've recently paid for a queen but I can't find much information on them other then they are nocturnal and nest in the ground in rainforest areas .
