A few people mention this doesn't work in cells that are restricted entirely. It will certainly work for restricted outpost POIs.
Command 1: placethere 00260ED4
Command 2: setoutpostoverlay
Command 3: SetINISetting "fClosestPointToleranceLargeItems:Workshop" "-100"
or set in INI:
[Workshop]
fClosestPointToleranceLargeItems=-100

Here the basic steps in writing: 1. Open console and type placethere 00260ED4 to place a fake outpost beacon in the restricted zone. 2. Target the beacon with console open, it should say ACTI then type setoutpostoverlay to set the overlay. Don't use this beacon. It won't work properly. 3. Walk out of the zone and start the normal outpost placement UI. 4. Walk back into the zone and place the beacon without error. 5. Don't forget to remove the overlap limits by adding [Workshop] fClosestPointToleranceLargeItems=-100 to your StarfieldCustom INI. 6. Open the build menu via your real beacon at least once to make sure you can see all objects. You can now place objects anywhere. You have a functional POI and you can even place a landing pad to land at. Build Your Outpost ANYWHERE! Wuhu!

Hi, I tried your method and everything works great. However, when I save, exit, and restart, the area is again restricted. Is that intentional? Or am I doing something wrong? Anyway to get around it or do I just do the entire thing again? Thanks

As I have already posted on your video, when I exit and reload the game new terrain spawns all over the POI and clips into buildings and other stuff. I have tried this at 2 different poi locations and same result. Anyone else have terrain spawn randomly?

Sorry, I must be missing something, but I can't find the StarfieldCustom.ini, or is something you have to make yourself?

This is the author, great little video, very simple and easy to understand! I uploaded a bat form aswell that might make it a bit more simple, the original was hidden because it only contains text :(. I run that tolerance line already, also (fClosestPointTolerance=-200) it helps with small item tolerance a lot, I haven't played around a lot since making the mod, very good addition. Thanks a lot for making this so quickly!

Hey, I like your video I ran into an issue, so I used you technique to "take over" a Fracking station. I ran out of minerals to build my landing pad so I left to buy some and I came back into a forest, that is now growing inside the already existing buildings from the Fracking station. Is there a way to remove those extra trees and rocks that are now blocking some ladders and stairs ?

Very nice! One question, can we delete the initial beacon from step 1 afterwards, or does it have to remain in the world?

You can select it via console and type DISABLE. It should continue to work.

I did this in a pirate lair with an underground landing pad that I could fit a small landing pad onto. Now my entire C-class arrives underground with a possible closable roof! (switch somewhere?) One day I arrived and a ship landed *through* my own ship. (that and all the pirates re-spawned). I had to tcl myself to their bridge to take their ship and take off to orbit *through* my C-class ship. I landed a walkable distance away and walked back to find my C-class still sitting on the pad with pirates in my landing bay. Unimpressed I took back my C-class back (no pirates inside). In general I found that some of the "ground" in restricted areas isn't real ground as far as outpost buildings are concerned so you get the "foundations too tall" error. But a blast of a mod nonetheless!

I did this at a POI on Niira, the abandoned biochem lab. Everything was going good until I loaded my game up a little bit after doing this and there were trees all over the place intersecting buildings and all kinds of stuff. Every time I load the save more trees and even in different locations. My best assumption is that this should only be done on planets without a lot of objects. Anyone else having this issue?

So I tested this again, on a moon with no terrain features other than small to large rocks. I noticed after I put the line of text in the ini file and when I reload my game, wherever I had the console command outpost beacon; it populates terrain in the POI like there are not any buildings there. So the terrain and buildings are clipping each other and looks really bad. Not sure if I’m putting the text in the ini file wrong or what

Same problem at Dream Home on Nesoi. Was able to place shipbuilding landing pad in the well near house (where class A/B ships normally land) but had super-aggressive growth all around the dream home, path up to front grown over, large tree growing right in front of main door, nothing inside though. So I decide to delete my outpost. Everything went away properly but next time I tried to land in a Class A ship it put me 400-500 meters away. Looks like even though I deleted the outpost the restriction for the area was still in place. Ended up just reverting to a old save to clean it up.

Wait, if you clear out an outpost of enemies and use this method, will the NPC enemies spawn back in over time?

Could not get this to work near Paradiso, when I come back into the fake outpost zone it still says the area is restricted.

A few people are saying that this doesn't work in cells that are restricted entirely. It will for sure work with any outpost POI that is restricted.

Any are that is HARDCODED as restricted will still be resticted until someone creates an ESM mod to override that coded restriction.

There has to be a way to tell the game to use the landing pad that's there at the outpost. The small one shown in the video obviously won't work with big ships.

Im alittle annoyed that you can't take over buildings as easy as in FO. Shame SF had to be different to that degree :(
