Great stuff. Thanks guys. Permanent ground blinds can make life easy !

They sure can, they make you blend in with the environment and cost nothing to do. Every couple of years you just need to add a couple of logs on top and your good to go. Thanks for watching.

GREAT VIDEO! For a quick run and gun blind, I've found leaning a couple of dead tree limbs up against a tree and hanging camo netting on the outside of the leaning tree limbs works well. I simply add some forest floor leaves, grass, and smaller limbs to the outside of camp netting to help break up the straight lines. I insure there's just enough room inside for me to sit and shoot.

Good things to come from the blind maintenance! Seen a few of these in the bush, and on river banks. Good tips thanks

Its crazy how well they work if you're downwind and have a ghillie suit! Hunting season will be here soon enough!

Great start to a blind. I personally like doing some top cross post and vertical blocks to bring the gun up behind

That's a great idea. Usually we bring the shooting sticks in the blind but we've also shot some deer leaning over the top logs. Goodluck and be safe out there

We've been making natural ground blinds out of branches and logs for more than 20 years. They work great.

Thats awesome Stanley and we agree! Especially for public lands, you're not worried about people stealing your branch blinds 😅 Hope your deer season is going well! 🙌

My best was digging into very steep hillsides with mattocks, cut a few poles for a small lean to cover put sticks all the way across top, used big garbage bag to cover and then used dirt and leaves to hide it . At the front where my feet went I cut a small pole for a shooting rest. Works good.. for rifle hunting.

Nothing better than free! It's natural cover so it's the best, the animals aren't alarmed by the blind. In fall we use the the fallen leaves and throw them over the blind and in the holes so it completely hides anything behind it. Good luck

I used a ground blind this year and it pretty much looked like the one you build. Here are the problems I ran into: 1) I could not seem to get into a firing position with my rifle, so every time I mounted the gun, the offhand position was difficult to hold. 2) I sat on a stump Which was comfortable at first, but it was uncomfortable after 20 minutes. It caused me to shift a lot. 3) the “log fort” around me was only 2’ high, so I felt as if every animal that walked by could see my slightest movement...which I am sure they did.

Oh damn!! Yeahh we tend to always use a light seat we can carry on our backpack if we dont make fixed benches like in this video. It'll help with the fidgeting. We also always wear a ghillie suit to break up our silhouette. If you wanna check out our last vid, Vanessa got her first deer sitting next to Marco filming from the ground blind we made from this vid. Goodluck the next time you head out!!

Great video guys . Do you put your blinds near a water source ? Or food source ? New hunter sept 2020 thanks for your info
@GIOUTDOORS
@GIOUTDOORS 3 года назад
Thanks Joseph! It really depends where you hunt but for us we always try to follow the sign! You cant go wrong with a food source but if you see a huge trail going to a water source then that might be a good spot as well. It doesnt get too hot here during hunting season and we learnt deer actually can get 80% of their water from the food they eat. (Unless they live in super hot areas)

Started building forts or blinds like that since I was 7 or 8 years old . Killed many Germans out of it as a kid . Learned as a kid that the deers would go right by us while we were trying to ambush rabbits with out pellet guns. Natural blinds most likely have aided in killing more deers than anything else .our forefathers used them hunting too when they weren’t still hunting .

That's so cool thanks for sharing. We've had alot of success in the past years using these types of ground blinds and the best part of them is that they are free!

I need to do this. Missed a nice little buck yesterday trying to stand hidden on tree line. He saw me but didn't smell me, as soon as I raised my rifle he split.

Hey, damn that sucks man but don't give up he'll be around. We hunt alot out of ladder stands but when we hunt the floor these types of ground blinds are our favorites. They really hide our silhouettes really well and hide our mouvements while blending in the woods because it's all trees from the area. Goodluck next time you head out.
