Disclaimer: This podcast includes age-sensitive conversations and is rated M for mature.
When it comes to raising our children, many things feel out of our control. When will they first learn about porn or sexting? When will they first discover swear words and inappropriate language? What about drugs? And then there's the whole conversation on gender and identity. The list goes on.
At some point, destructive things will present themselves to our children in one way or another. How do we prepare our children to handle the realities of our modern world?
This week, we discuss how to create an atmosphere of trust so that your kids feel comfortable sharing these encounters with you rather than navigating them alone.

My girls are 6 & 4 and I’ve always used correct anatomical terminology with them. My eldest was 4 when she asked, “Mummy, why are you doing blood again?” 😂 God gave me these words, and I use them with my girls still now. “There is life in the blood. The blood in my body keeps my body alive. Jesus had to die and shed His blood on the cross so my spirit could live. And God designed my body to bleed every month so that I could carry life. If I didn’t bleed, I wouldn’t have been blessed with my 2 beautiful girls.” I am a firm believer in having the difficult conversations in a safe space, and making a big deal when they show wisdom and discernment 🎉

Coming from a broken family and having young children of my own, my husband and I want to do things completely differently for our girls. We often don’t know where to turn or who to model ourselves after. These episodes have been a game changer for me and a huge motivation to implement small things into our home that can make a world of a difference. It is so encouraging to see how you all raise your kids with intentionality.

This podcast is really something super special. You all make these topics so, well as John put it with the Jews “a drop of honey”. Wanting to not only take these conversations with the Beveres table to our table, and maybe even the tables of other small groups. So so good Bevere family.

I do not have kids of my own yet but this is still amazing to hear as preparation for when its the right time. Gods time. Also, I work in a school so this information and tools of wisdom can be used for the children in the school I work with as well. Thank you for your obedience to the Lord and continuous sacrifice for the body of Christ. God Bless You All!

What a rich much needed programme discussing such important life issues that a family faces helping to prepare, ground and protect children and equipping them so as not to become ensnared in the enemy's tactics.thank You Abba Father for gifting us with the Bevere family...

Brilliant. We love hearing from you guys! We are a family with 5 kids ages 2-8. The first 4 are so close in age, we are thinking this conversation may have to be a group one? Love how John Bevere always refers back to scripture ALL the time! I know people call him severe Bevere, but my hubby and I like to think of him as revere Bevere. Such a reverence towards the Lord. Bless you guys!

So so good. Juli's prayer at the end was so beautiful. Looking forward to hearing you'll on how to encourage kids to spend time in the word. That would be so key

Maybe mention what can be done when you have messed up, or overreacted and so on. I struggle with moving forward sometimes because of shame from the past.

Thank you so much for theses episodes. Great wisdom poured out to many and especially for new parents like me. If possible can you provide us some specific responses that you gave ur kids when they asked sex or sexual related questions. If they are not asking questions relating to sex but you know that they are exposed to this in school( from their friends) how can we start the conversations with them to get into this topic?

I LOVE listening to these videos. They have been soo helpful to me in so many ways. These are packed full of so much wisdom!💜I do have a question though..I keep hearing you guys say we need to have regular conversations with our kids about their bodies and sexuality. I totally agree but I am clueless on what's "age appropriate" I never had those growing up. I was just told DON'T SAY THAT or we don't do that etc. Never explaining to talking through. So I'm not sure how to navigate this lol I have a 11yr old daughter, 10 year old son and 3 yr old daughter. I want to be the one they come to on these issues but it has always been awkward for me. I don't want it to be but I am just being honest.

I am loving your podcasts! Very new to watching you guys & I can tell you’ve guys have done a great job in raising your boys to honor & fear the Lord. In the first 4 mins just listening to your story (I’m a mom of young kids & am no expert at all) I just wanted to share that maybe it was your dad’s reaction as to why you reacted in that way. In my opinion they (your parents) didn’t initially needed to say ok, these are all the words we don’t use & now they’ve taught you them lol I think it’s safe to create a clear boundary after the fact that we (our family) don’t use those words coz they don’t glory God in our home. If you hear words your friends may be using them & may think it’s cool, but in our house those are inappropriate words. Or along those lines lol I usually ask my Kids we here did they hear that word & 10/10 it’s from tv. So I’m monitoring less screen time etc. I would love to hear your feedback on this coz I have little ones and praying my hubby & I are doing our job to raise them in a Godly manner.

Thanks for the great talk. What does a wife do if the husband disagrees about talking about sexual issues like pornography with his sons as he thinks it will awaken them to it and then they might fall into wanting to see it rather than as a warning against it? This is what has happened in our family and our 3 adult sons never had any candid conversations with their dad about sexual perversion before they left home and I felt like I couldn't go against his will to do it myself (although one of them asked me randomly at one stage before leaving and I answered very basically; one of the others is upset we didn't prepare him for what he experienced at uni but he has only shared this with me not his dad). Now we have 2 younger boys still in the home and I would like to prepare them as you have described but my husband is not on the same page so I feel stuck. He is also going through some hard things and escapes/leisure time is TV and it's on so often and I try and distract the boys to do other things so they won't see and hear what's on but it's hard to do that all the time. My consolation is that I homeschool so the daily routine when hubby is a work is filled with bible reading, sharing, and conversation about God. I am confident that my boys would come to me with questions and concerns if they had any but it's sad they don't have that from their father. Besides prayer, any suggestions? And is it wrong for me to answer their questions even if it is topics their dad said he doesn't think they should know about when young - is that going against his wishes. What do I do?
@adryd8753
@adryd8753 Год назад
Not sure what is the your family dynamics, and I'm not an expert, but in my case, I'm the mother of two boys. I don't think is wrong for a mother talking to their boys about these issues, if the dad wouldn't do it. Ideally, it will be better from man to man, but if he's not equipped, I think it's more than appropriate for the mom to do it herself. I would strongly suggest to get the knowledge from trusted and Christian sources to share that with them. Pray first and be prepared to feel awkward and do not react to their comments or questions. They to make it natural and spontaneous, and watch for the right moment. I will be praying for you.
@adryd8753
@adryd8753 Год назад
By the way, conversations will not awaken pornography, it will happen, it's everywhere. So it's better to equip our kids the best we can, and with a LOT of prayer.

Can you talk about how to surround your kids with the right friends? Do you remove them from interacting with certain neighbour's kids that might speak to them other stuff ranging from neutral to not good. Sorry if that's vague. Thank you

Hi, My name is Eunice. We are a family of 4 two boys , my husband and myself. For the past two or 3 weeks my 4 almost 5 years old, has been asking me " so if I cross through the rainbow, I will be a girl" at first I thought how in the world would he be able to understand something like that and the question comes up more often now and everytime I am just like, No way God made you a boy and even if you cross that rainbow you will stay a boy. I know that a family member made my 4 year old aware of this but it seems this question does not leave our conversations, and we really try to keep those boundaries for their protection. I seeking some advice, years old seem so innocent to have these conversations.
