Very clear, very concise. thanks. I got my first oil change on the KLR done in less than 30 minutes. Very smooth. Thank goodness for RU-vid, it sure gives greater confidence and makes this kind of stuff much easier.

K&N Filters Include an O-Ring for the filter cover . Might be nice if they added the drain plug seal too as a full kit . I buy K&N now so I might inquire. Customer feedback drives sales . Also helps changes .

Most informative motorcycle instructions I've ever watched without paying. Thanks Any chance that you'll be working on a cbr300r in the future? Keep up the awesome videos.

Thanks, Todd! We may have the CBR back up on the lift in the near future... someone recently requested a CBR coolant flush; we might get that one done. It's on the ever-growing list of repairs we could do! Do you have any suggestions?

My 2008 KLR 650 recommends a 10W-40. Would using a 20W-50 be better?

I cracked an aluminum head with a pin torqued to 18 pound feet with a click type torque wrench. For aluminum, one should only use guage type.

Do all the KLRs use the same filter?
@cliffspicer6555
@cliffspicer6555 4 года назад
My manual and most videos I watch suggest 10W-40 oil but I noticed you are using 20w-50. Can I ask why you went with this oil?

Was burning a little oil and high mileage. Not bad enough to rebuild, but thicker oil reduces the symptoms.
@rvalerio77
@rvalerio77 2 года назад
@@PartzillaParts how many miles is time to go up with more viscosity? My KLR650 is near 60 K miles, will more viscosity be more difficult to pump/flow and affect lubrication?

What about re-coating the o ring in oil before reinstalling the cap? Have I been dipping my clean fingers in oil to apply it all these years for no reason, or was that an oversight?
@PartzillaParts
@PartzillaParts 7 лет назад
You want the o-ring to have oil on it. However, if you pull it off and it still has residue on it, you don't have to add more, as long as it's not dry. It's not required every time you pull it off.
@Austin-cn5xd
@Austin-cn5xd 5 лет назад
@@PartzillaParts So you do not need to replace the O-ring every time?

Do you check the oil level while it’s on the side kickstand? Or hold the bike up
@rvalerio77
@rvalerio77 2 года назад
You need to hold it straight, oil level has to be above the middle.

God damn to hell that oil filter cover. I ended up using plastic trim removal tools because the screwdriver would've definitely gouged some stuff

Can I ask why you start the bike before changing the oil?
@Humancbr
@Humancbr 4 года назад
This is to warm up the oil. Warm oil flows a lot quicker than cold oil. Speeds up the process and makes sure you remove as much of the old oil as possible.

Bypass valve missing in my bike? Kawasaki dealer said don’t need one ?????
@peterjones7935
@peterjones7935 4 года назад
Dealer is a f*cking idiot then. Also the new crush washer can save the cases - goes like "put old washer back on, still leaks a bit. Tighten the plug some more, still leaks, do the plug REALLY tight, cases now stripped. New washer is a lot cheaper than new cases.

Take a clean cloth or Paper towel clean that Filter Area ..... Before putting new filter in there . try to draw straight outward .... Again look for nasty filings .
