I just wanted to know what the battery "cover" is for. Forgot to put mine around the battery before reinstallation. Wanted to know if it's important. Video didn't address it.

You could take a heat gun or blow torch and heat up a hollow punch and melt a hole on the plastic top battery cover to gain permanent access to that short bolt that holds down the battery and you will never have to remove the cover again. Do it after you remove the battery.
