LOL....AT&T did the exact same thing with me; sent me the same exact modem but told me the one they were sending was a newer upgrade. They were IDENTICAL!
Lol we have fiber but we hardly get 200 mbs on a good day, and even then it goes in and out a LOT, currently having an issue where the site says my battery isnt present when its clearly plugged in
U can keep your old password & Wi-Fi user too go to your settings go to WiFi & Network name (SSID) AND THEN CUSTOMS PASSWORD THAT HOW I DID ON MY ATT ROUTER I KEPT MY OLD PASSWORD NETWORK NAME TOO I JUST TYPED IT IN ROUTER SETTINGS OK
I do not use the Wifi have a much better one to use. But one thing will say about this model. After replacing an old AT&T model before it. My PFsense firewall has all but fell silent as this blocks immense unneeded traffic whereas my model before this did not. So pretty robust offering there.
Yep suppose to get "newer, better" modem. Twice they have sent the exact same modem that we currently have, 2Wire 5268AC, even though we were suppose to be send the Gateway BGW210. Could be a distribution problem but we are scheduling an appointment to ensure they are bringing the correct modem. By the way, you may already know, the modems seem to automatically transfer the "name " of the modem and password to the new one. Another option is to call and have it changed to whatever you want or use the http address on the modem to change the name and password to what you want.
@@TomLeeman I appreciate your response. Unfortunately this is my 3rd ATT Network router. My Computer recognizes and operates on 2 that I had to send back to ATT. The remaining one is the one I have a password written on the side on yellow stickers, but I am unable to add to the network manually. My Wi-fi works, I just can't sync with my new cell phone. Had to use a friends Wi-Fi to complete set-up process. Thanks for trying !
I received a new BGW210 via UPS. Much to my surprise it turned out to be 'plug and play' just as promised, however I did have to reset my surveillance camera DVR in order to resync with the new router. I see multiple bad luck comments here so hopefully I won't encounter a glitch any time soon. So far so good with mine, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
? My old att@t box went out and tore up and so I got on eBay and bought the exact model used and when I plugged it in it connected however most websites won't load up, the only sites that load are RU-vid and Facebook and that's basically it. did I make a mistake by purchasing a used modem box off eBay.
I would expect a bit of a rant about ATT insisting on charging you to rent their device despite it being required to use the product/ service that you pay $$$ for! -How about once I’ve paid for the entire router with the monthly charges, they let me know and give me the choice for a new router that would justify an ongoing monthly charge! - they also have an obvious conflict of interest between renting you a range extender if your router does a piss, poor job of delivering signal. Please tell me I’m not the only one realizing this.
I have to admit AT&T is not the greatest company in the world they’re putting in fiber optic in our neighborhood but we haven’t got it yet so I get about 30 MB which sucks and I’ve tried other services and they’re about the same unfortunately because of the old infrastructure coming into the house good luck thanks for watching
The AT&T tech that had to come out and switch to another new modem, after I had already received the "new" one in the mail, just let the new modem incorporate the WiFi password from the previous modem. It actually worked. Then he took the password sticker off the old modem and placed it on the newly replaced modem. Turns out that these are all refurbished modems with updated firmware. The Ethernet ports on the one he switched out were faulty and I did not get any connection to my TV or Xbox when I direct wired them and that was supposed to be a brand new modem, according to the person who sent it. So when I hit connect on my phone to the new WiFi, it took a second and then connected without prompting for a password.
Never hold down the reset button more than 20 seconds or it will erase the old passwords and reinstate the new name and password. That is what the AT&T person that installed mine told me.
I don't get the point of this video. You said in the beginning that the original router was working fine and you are replacing it with the exact same model. Why? Now you have to go through the teeth-gnashing ordeal to change all your wireless devices for no reason that I can see.
Most AT&T comes in the house on copper so the Internet connection is just like the old dial-up phone connection with that little plastic tip that you got a squeeze and push in
If the power light starts flashing let it rest, it may take up to 10 or 15 min specifically 5268ac which is the best modem for gaming and ports forwarding the bgw210 is a bit newer but the port forwarding will not be ass good, if you got money pay and get another modem to do ip passthrough
did you request a new one? how come you got a new one? i'm wanting to get a 5GHz router because the interference has been wacko lately. I checked the channel traffic for 2.4GHz and to no surprise, 5GHz is pretty relaxed in comparison
@@wellstoried connection has been abysmal on all channels lately. It restarts often... its an 3801HGV... a bit outdated, no? If I'm paying for the equipment fee, what gives?
Channels is it uverse tv? Yes you may also request for a new equipment if you wish too and not too much of a hassle returning old equipment to UPS once you get a new one.
We just had to replace that exact modem/router from ATT due to intermittent (sp?) connection to the internet.....devices not attaching well to wifi and even hard wired ethernet devices were choppy. Wouldn't you know, like you they sent us the exact same modem. Within 10 minutes we had the same issues as before. They ran line test and so forth on their end over phone and cant seem to find a problem. Get told to reset and reboot, etc etc but get same problems.....only thing we can guess on our end is that we are trying to connect too many wireless devices (though we have disconnected as many as we can and don't seem to make a difference). They are coming out in a week to boost out speed and package...but before they come, do you have any speculation of what other issues could be going on? All devices we try to use have the same problem. Thanks for any feedback.
Att is notorious for these problems could be copper coming into the house they may need to upgrade the infrastructure. We have an old house built in 70's and are constantly have interruption especially at night with Netflix and other streaming I have replaced routers many times and have range extenders still..
@Jay Fisher I'd like to know what ended up happening in your situation. I have the exact same issues you have. And that's because I have at&t fiber with some hard wired devices. Let me know how it went for you and what they tell you. Thanks in advance 👍🏻
chris montez all is great now. I thought it was line to house but as I recall it was that the tech said they send me a crap replacement router. He replaced it and up our speed and we haven’t had a problem since that day. We put on a Google nest to extend to some dead areas in house. Our WiFi must have been shotty for months and we didn’t realize until the router starting going out. We are a 3 cell phone family and had been going insanely over on our cell data even though on WiFi at home. We haven’t gone over once since then. Might have come to 90% once but that’s the closest and right before it changed to next month.
chris montez my experiences with att have always suggested to key is to get a tech to The house. They know way more than the scripted overseas call techs
@@jayfisher5552 thank you so much for the info. This will truly help in my situation as well. I have received my same replacement router and have noticed a bit of a difference. Still going to work on getting a tech to the house. Thanks again Mr.Fisher.
I have the Pace 5862AC from att. But lately my wifi range has dropped...I refuse to pay for another att router. Have 50meg.. what is a compatible brand router combo I can use? Range is the only issue I'm having
If you have the Landport in another room you can just plug it in but if you don’t you may have to have it installed by AT&T good luck thanks for watching
Thanks for the tip other people have told me the same thing I don’t know why they sent me this one it’s the exact same one I had I will try to get a new one thank you and thanks for watching
Can I use this as a router...? It says the broadband ont port is actually a wan port so... I was thinking if I can hook up an ethernet cord from the modem to the broadband ont of the router?
AT&T is without a doubt the worst I have a T-Mobile cell tower that gets four or five times stronger upload and download but it all depends on where you live and it’s only 50 bucks a month good luck thanks for watching
Well mine comes through the phone line so the routers are set up for different types of connections because in someplace as AT&T has fiber optic‘s right into the home but unfortunately I don’t so I only get 30 MB which really sucks
Yes you should have a power cord with a transformer that you have to plug-in to a power supply and then you should have a green DSL cord that you can plug into the router into a port somewhere on the wall that AT&T is installed good luck thanks for watching
So my modem's lights arent turning on. We have the bill paid for, we have all the cords plugged in correctly and we are struggling with trying to get it to turn on. Any helpful suggestions to fix this? The store is closed today and we need this fixed.
I just installed the identical router due to issues with U-verse. Since I replaced it my Lacrosse weather app on my phone doesn't recognize the new router. Same thing for my Ring floodlight camera and the Ring doorbell. From what I understand the new router/modem is not compatible with certain items. I'm kind of PO'D because several other sites recommend to purchase Netgear router. We'll see what happens when I call U-verse tomorrow. NOT A HAPPY CAMPER!
Are the passwords and network name changed at all the devices when you get the modem from AT&T on the left-hand top it has the new network name and password and you can change it to your old but that might be one reason thanks for watching
@@TomLeeman Thanks. However, I contacted AT&T, they had me sign into and register a Guest on my modem. After I did that the Lacrosse and ring cameras worked. Thanks for your response.
Do I need a line to conwct my modem? I just stop at Walmart they offered and told me I don't neede nothing else, they just would send the box and instructions and now iam stoked! 😒
It can be wireless or connected with wire phone line or coaxial depending on your preference Mine is connected by a phone line to my computer but all the devices wifi and I have a range extender to cover the whole house
Not sure if you still have this problem I called the company they tried helping me by phone nothing was working they send me a new router which had the same problem (broadband red) two technician came to my house and the problem was outside they did what they had to do (something about not been connected to a mainbox) and the problem was fix
You should just go to settings and it should pick up your network and you just put in your password for your TV or other devices you don’t need a hug the cable directly
Quick question for anyone that knows about internet speed. I have att 18mbps pack. And I don't get the any where near the 18mbps. I'm trying to download a game and I'm getting 0.45 mbps. If I buy a gaming router will my download speed be better?
Avoid the gaming routers. They're overpriced gimmicks. That's not to say that they don't work, but they just cost a lot more than a non-gaming router. There are a lot of factors that affect your download speed. I'm assuming you did a speedtest on a wired connection. If you can rule out that it is not on your network, then you should be able to ask them for help. It may be a bad gateway, or a bad connection between the gateway and AT&T's network.
If that is your flow to the u must have fiber into your house check with cable provider ATT and see if u do that's good and you'll have super fast speeds
Just got my equipment set it up the steps were simple but no lights turn green I am only getting red blinking lights on the broadband. What am I doing wrong? Help
Question: I'm looking to buy a new wifi gaming router, do I have to call at&t to tell them that I'm using my own router instead of theirs? Cuz its a at&t cable internet
@@spartan_a1176 I know this is a month late. With AT&T U-Verse, you're forced to use their gateway. You can add a 3rd party router, but you cannot get rid of the AT&T box. That's the way AT&T does things. In order to setup your other router, you have to first put your AT&T gateway into IP passthrough. The exact steps depend on the mode of gateway you have; you just have to find instructions for your gateway online.
Tom Leeman I have a question so, our white box the battery or whatever it’s called was accidentally unplugged from the power then I plugged it back in and my WiFi won’t work
I need help!! When I changed my router the same WiFi SSID showed and I can’t connect any new devices bc it shows the old router information! Plz help me :(
You'll tell me all about the AT&T Wi-Fi box and Fiber Optic internet and if I dropped the box and everything how they put the wires in the ground do the new Wi-Fi by Sky surge protector built inside of it the 2019 the new Wi-Fi box who U-verse internet AT&T.
Att has to have a connection if not they bring it in from the wire outside and but in a box u must have had a phone line at one time somewhere in the house
@@TomLeeman yeah, that doesn’t work with mine. I have also reset , but that doesn’t always work. I’m going to try a few other fixes, I have found on utube. I realize my question was off topic..good video Tom. Thanks for taking the time.
The black cable on the bottom is the power cable it goes to your power outlet the one cable that looks like a phone plug is your connection to AT&T and the other one is connecting it with the hardware to the computer
@@TomLeeman i tried that with at&t we have a box that has antenna with a light and a power logo which lets you know like if it’s powered on. our antenna light isn’t on which is currently having the internet box with no service. it’s the reason why on the internet box it has a red light blinking by broadband 1
at&t's wifi router looks so outdated...when I got my fiber internet installed I was like oh can't wait to see the new sleek WiFi router...but then I saw it I was like that's it? It's the same one they use for previous u-verse copper wire internet....😑
I have been will Cingular when do get Cingular Wireless and BellSouth telephone calls and I got me a bill phone with AT&T when I was 23 years old by digging my first prepaid phone I was 20 back in the old to 2002 but I got me a bill phone but I love AT&T I've been with them at all times ever since 2002 to 2019.
It might be issue with modem or call at&t nd check whether u have more than one account or what exactly issue they will resolve ur issue but u need to give them exact Info to pull up ur details
I love AT&T I love new AT&T U-verse Wi-Fi both came out about the new 2019 AT&T U-verse Wi-Fi box going on a 2020 high with those of a fault that I got that same Wi-Fi by Sagat in 2017 but I don't have a brand new one ten mile about the 2019 AT&T Wi-Fi buy some U-verse for 2019 going on to 2025 Van Sales tell me more about it.
