How to set up your ATT DSL Broadband Modem Router Internet gateway with Ethernet to your iMac apple desktop and where to find your network name and password for your wifi on other devices. Click here amzn.to/3kDe5XE
Yes, once you connect the tower to the DSL you can just use Wi-Fi throughout your house depending on the strength you may need an extender, but good luck thank you for watching. Happy holidays.
Uverse Internet (which they've just rebranded to AT&T Internet) was kind of a transition between traditional DSL (much further distance over the existing telephone copper lines) and Fiber. The quality of the copper lines from your house to their side is going to determine the max speeds for DSL and Uverse (VDSL). I've had it on and off for years and when it first came out I had the triple play (TV, Internet, and. Phone). They were the only ones approved for telephone alarm lines and faxes because the VOIP was going directly back to the AT&T Network Operations Center and didn't have to travel over the "internet". These days they mostly only offer the Internet and phone part, but they're still using the same modem/router as before. That Coax line is actually a MOCA port. You could plug the Uverse TV boxes into your existing coax runs OR the LAN ports. When the connection is good, it's a solid experience. My neighbors a block away finally got fiber, but still not on our block yet!
We have fiber optics everywhere to houses, inside houses - an Optic-ethernet media converter to a router and then either Wi-Fi or a LAN. Usually to gaming PCs cable (less ping) and phones, tablets, laptops and TVs via Wi-Fi. Location on Domodedovo city, Moscow region. Backbone providers have either optics or a broadband radio channel. On average, the speed at home is 40 megabits per second, the tariff is 400 rubles per month ($5.4) and unlimited tariff. Thanks for the video about this router, I was looking for information about it because I liked the design!
Thanks, my dad said he set up the router but it wasn’t working for hours so I went and looked Turns out he had the ethernet cord where the other end of the dsl was supposed to go and after this I got it to work
SCAM ALERT Guys, there is someone impersonating to be an att rep. If u r a new customer, please continue reading. The scammer will ask if u received your reward card. They will have your name, address, and are aware that u r getting a reward card. They know the expiration date and the first 8 digits of the card. They will pretend like they r going to add more funds. It’s a scam. Don’t give them any information.
Trying to sort out what ATT Internet 50 installation requires inside the house. I get a different answer every time I call. I have ATT phone/DSL currently. You showed the Router DSL connection is larger than the traditional phone jack connection. So, from your video seems clear the existing wall jack cannot be used (as is). Does ATT installer replace the existing wall connection with a new connector (same spot/wires in the wall) so it can take the larger router DSL? OR do they install a new connector? If you have multiple phone jacks in the house, does it matter which one they use? Debating this vs. just waiting for Wifi Home Internet, Thanks for the video. Helping me understand what is involved.
AT&T is running fiber optic but where we live they have not put it in yet. If you’re changing the system from DSL we’re gonna have to change everything out. Good luck on your install. Thanks for watching.
Att usually uses phone lines in places where Comcast owns more service. That’s why they use your phone lines, also you can’t get ATT fiber in those areas
AT&T is supposed to be putting fiber-optic in our area but where we live is the oldest part of the city and our infrastructure is in the back of the yards and they just don’t wanna spend the money thanks for watching

You can connect it to your computer with an ethernet cable or you can use Wi-Fi I find the ethernet gives you a better signal good luck and thanks for watching
Pretty much like Windstreams gateway. The red ONT is for Fiber to the home so you would use this instead of the green bonded dsl line. Also I would shut off the wifi and WPS as it can be brute forced to crack and I would use my own router and make the gateway a modem strickly.
@@niccogutierrez4585 They don't call it U-Verse anymore. They rebranded it to AT&T Internet for non-fiber service and AT&T Fiber for the fiber internet service.
@TomLeeman hi i know this video is a little old but i was searching for some info and thought you might be able to help. Please forgive my idiocy but im not to tech savvy but at&t installed a black box that stands up on its side. Im assuming its maybe the router. You can plug up a phone line, ether net, and some other things on the back and on the front it has indicator lights. My service with at&t is good but my mother found a box of new at&t hook ups and a tower or router. Would it be ok for me to use the newer router/tower or should i not even mess with it? I ask cause the router/tower is new and i wasnt sure if it would have a better signal. If your not sure what router/tower im talking about its like the one in your video. It has no antennas and it has the password on the side. Also if i can switch them would the wifi password be the same as the original router/tower or would i use the password on the side of the new router/tower?
If you switch towers your network name and password change to what is on the tower but AT&T send you a tower that’s basically assigned to you so if you were going to switch out service you may need to contact them. Good luck thanks for watching.
@@TomLeeman ok. My service is at&t already the tower i i got from my mom is a new at&t tower. I didnt know if different towers have more um power or boost i guess you say. I didnt know if you could just swap towers out on your own as well without having at&t come out or any service providers.
Xfinity is way faster I have Xfinity at a condo and it’s super fast compared to AT&T AT&T without fiber optics is about 30 MB download in about five upload actually very bad good luck thanks for watching
So glad to run across this helpful video! Do I need to do any kind of ISP stuff to the AT&T modem? Can I just plug my home CAT6 ethernet cable into the AT&T Arris BGW210 modem? My plan is to mesh my internet system.
Got att then realized my house has the Ethernet jack and I’m renting so I’m not aloud to drill into the wall to add one is there a way to connect without it ??
You could purchase a T-Mobile 5G Internet for 50 bucks a month and you wouldn’t need any connections and when you leave you just take it with you good luck thanks for watching have a couple videos on a check them out
AT&T doesn't use ethernet. They use a standard phone line. If your house has no active phone jacks and you can't get permission to get them hooked up, there's nothing you can do about it.
What if I have a device that needs a LAN cable but it’s in another room. My room has a port that looks like a LAN port but how do I know it’ll transfer over?
If your house is wired with ethernet, then all of those network jacks end in some room in your house, usually a closest or similar. You would need to plug in those cables into your router and then you will be able to use the network jacks in your rooms. Otherwise, if they're not plugged in, nothing will work. If you have more network ports in your home than your router has, you can buy a network switch.
You don't. In the old days if you also ordered telephone service they would include the Belkin backup box so you would still have phone service for a while if the power went out.
You’re gonna have to unplug everything let it sit for a couple minutes and then replug everything back in and hopefully it’ll reset for you good night good luck thanks for watching
AT&T connects through their phone type line and that’s what that green is to the router. The router itself will spread the Wi-Fi through the apartment or house. Good luck thanks for watching.
Yah. Lucky you. You get the most 4g to 5g radiation and live in a radiation field 24 hours a day 🤣 literally like bragging about having your head in a microwave while it's on 24 hours a day.
@@BulletsB4Guns_2A you are Subject to radiation everywhere you go. Every bit of technology like your phone you're typing on. And even the sun daily. This isn't the same as getting x-rays or putting your head in a microwave at all
You should have a DSL port that was installed by AT&T that you would connect it to and then bring it back up and connected to the router and it should work if it’s not you may have to call AT&T
I would imagine that it would work the only problem is with AT&T you don’t get very good upload speeds unless you’re in an area where they’ve already laid out the fiber optic cable if you have that than your golden good luck thanks for watching
I have a modem similar to this and im setting up something on my tv and it asks me what kind of security my wifi has?? where could i find that? i dont have anything at home that uses wifi till now, thank you for your time, i really appreciate it.
The TV should just ask you the name of the network which would be your Wi-Fi network and then it should ask you for the password and that should be it. You just have to plug those two in and it should work.
If you get that red blink that means that you’ve got to disconnect everything turned everything off for a couple minutes and then reconnect good luck thanks for watching
@@Goblinslayer48 of the system that we have is not fiber optics yet because they haven’t put it in our area. They are building out in soon will have that but until then it’s almost like we’re doing DSL dial-up
@@TomLeeman I have CenturyLink DSL. It's horrible. Have tried the LTE internet services, even with an external antenna. Have not tried satellite, but won't due to research. Heart goes out.
If you have AT&T internet and it is NOT fiber, you need a phone line in your home. You don't need phone service, but you do need an active phone jack in your home. If you don't have one, you will probably need to contact AT&T so that they can install and set that up for you. The ONT port is only necessary if you have AT&T Fiber internet service. You would plug in an ethernet cable from your ONT (where the fiber comes in and gets handed off as copper) to your AT&T gateway.
You would have to have AT&T install the DSL port and give you an ethernet line to connect to your modem have to let them know and then send somebody out to do that good luck thanks for watching
What if I do have a phone connector but the broadband light wont turn on green. It turns red but its all connected. I dont know what to doo! At&t customer service sucks ass. Totally regret getting this device. I cant get help nowhere
I have the same problem at AT&T is here right now and it’s from the line they may have to check the feed coming into the house on the pole that’s what the guy is doing right now he’s up on the ladder so it’s out on the pole coming into the house or you may need a new router
You can try unplugging everything and then plugging it back in it takes about 15 minutes for the tower to come on and work you should see all green lights good luck thanks for writing
You actually don’t need to connect the ethernet if you use Wi-Fi but I directly wired my computer to the system, but that’s up to you. The tower itself sends out a signal. You can look on the side of it. It tells you your network name and the password for any device, so you don’t have to use a wire connection but you do have to connect it from the AT&T port. Good luck thanks for watching.
@@davidjamesqc You can plug in devices like PCs, laptops, TVs, etc to your gateway via an ethernet cable. It is preferred over wifi as ethernet is more stable and reliable. However, you can use wifi if your devices are too far away and can't run a cable. The red ONT port, to my knowledge, is only used if you have AT&T Fiber internet. You would plug an ethernet cable from your ONT (optical network terminal) to the gateway. The ONT is where the fiber from AT&T comes in and is 'handed off' as an ethernet connection to your gateway. If you don't have fiber internet, this doesn't apply to you.
My windows 7 pc will not show the color red...peoples faces look green....so I tried hooking up a older pc to att wifi model 7550...it will not connect to the internet ?
It should see the network and Wi-Fi and then all you have to do is plug in the password, but then I’m not familiar with that model. You may have to call AT&T and get a new modem.
If you don’t have a computer you still have your Wi-Fi so other devices like your phone your TV iPads will recognize the net work and you’ll still be able to connect to the Wi-Fi on those devices because this is a router modem so on the one side which is the left side you’re going to see the name of the network and they’ll be a password and that’s all you have to do is look at the device in Wi-Fi pick that network and then put in that password and you’ll be good thanks for watching
AT&T would have to install your DSL line for you you’ll have to contact them and tell them you don’t have anyway to connect good luck thanks for watching
Lol what do you mean “AT&T hasn’t figured stuff out yet” at 2:43? AT&T has owned a copper pair network for a hundred years. What else would they run their internet over?
They are putting fiber optics in our city but have not built the infrastructure into her area my Internet is like dial-up it’s so bad I only get 30 MB and on an upload I get five it’s ridiculous I’m thinking about buying Starlink but that’s much more expensive thanks for watching
AT&T currently has a 5 year fiber buildout plan which realistically is going to take a lot longer. Anything 7-100 meg is already partial fiber (fttn). The company is a little behind where it should be because the last CEO tried to transform At&t into an entertainment company.
AT&T does have fiber internet in some areas of the country, but they really don't want to install fiber anymore. They seem to be more focused on 5G. Sucks for those of us who don't have fiber internet.
Make sure you have proof that you returned it to an actual AT&T store (not a reseller). If they're like Comcast, they may claim you never returned it (even if you did) and will try to bill you for something you did return.
I know one thing I'm sick and tired of my Wi-Fi at home Shutting the Wi-Fi connection off while it's still on... Over the last 2 years but over the last 6 months even worse all they do is turn your Wi-Fi Box on and off on and off on and off on and off on and off... It's not anything to do with the equipment it's actually spectrum and Other Internet Companies.. And there is a method to their madness themselves
Many of the service providers have been caught throttling down the bandwidth at certain times during the day there apart of a duopoly were there just isn’t competition just maybe two companies that do you have to choose from but star link in T-Mobile will be changing that with their new systems that you can purchase and they’re only 50 bucks a month and work pretty good good luck thanks for watching
oh I did not know about AT&T...I spent 4 hours to connect internet and was stressful time when technician raning around my home looking for some access slot. Also do not like why the modem has a camer? for what that camera inside?
@@TomLeeman after 8 hours and nothing working.. i finally got the new motem to work. for anyone having the same problem, disconnect it from whatever data cable you ran and get a shorter one. (25 ft max) bring it to your data box thing, plug THAT in, put your wifi box right next to the data box, and it'll work. dont fw it while its loading, might break it
Unplug everything wait about a minute or two then plug it all back in and it takes about 10 minutes for it to boot up wait until all the lights turned green and then you should be good to go
Tell me about it. I hate AT&T but I’m stuck with it for now. I have tried T-Mobile. It works OK but doesn’t reach the whole house. Good luck thanks for watching.
You are so correct AT&T and Comcast both horrible service our house was built in the 70s and the infrastructure runs through the backyards of our block and they won’t come in and update the wire so I’m kind of stuck with this but I tried the T-Mobile tower works fairly good but it’s too spotty for the whole house thanks for watching
