This video gives you an easier way to chip and pitch a golf ball. If you struggle to strike your chip and pitch shots and at the same time are unable to get distance control then I hope this video really helps.
This video specifically focuses on that awkward 50 yards pitch shot.
You will learn the set up required for strike, the simple chipping and pitching technique plus solutions to some of the common faults.
If you have any questions on the video or how to drive the ball straight then leave them in the comments box below or reach out using the contact details below

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On RU-vid and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

Danny i had a gigantic struggle with chipping and pitching this summer... i watched your video best chipping tip ever... went out to the course the day after immediately solved all of my chunking and blading because of the tip about not getting my hands ahead of the club... but more importantly... the level tip i could instantly feel it and put it muscle memory... at 10 min warm up around the chipping green and it was already fixing my issue... i went from two chipping to getting up and down.... my bad habits of going after the ball (Dipping) and digging the club gone...and i feel like i have returned to my old form. thank you! thank you! thank you!

I'm relatively new to watching golf here on YT, but so far this is one of the best I've seen in terms of instructional delivery. Too many talk technique but don't demonstrate it very well. In terms of practical skills visual learning is absolutely key. I used to teach/coach military instructors and it's bothers me when I see a lot of talk and very little practical teaching. Thanks Danny it's refreshing to see. New subscriber.

Another brilliant video that makes golf so much easier! I've been binge-watching your videos and love the way you're helping make golf fun again. I've been struggling with consistency in my chipping and pitching. Some great shots followed by horrible duffs or tops. When I tried this method of just letting the weight of the club control the pitch, it's just so much more controllable. I'm sure it's going to shave strokes off my game.

Thanks for going through the 'right way' to pitch first, BEFORE going into the various ways to screw it up. For me personally, watching the wrong way to do something hardly ever helps and sometimes hurts. BTW, the swing thought of letting the club head's weight drop down to contact ensures the nice easy swing that you need on this shot. Once again, you nailed describing the sensation you need to make this work.

Danny, for a very long time now I have had real problems with my chipping and pitching. My confidence had gone completely as I stood over the ball fearing the outcome. I would tense up, grip the club too tight and then decelerate during the shot and somehow managed to end up with everything shooting off to the right so I was clearly delivering the club head open to the ball. This was ruining my score and any prospect of getting my handicap down. So I am delighted to tell you that this video and your chipping video have got me on the right tack to fixing this issue. Thank you.

Great tips as always Danny. About the only area of my game where I have received compliments (instead of pity :) is chipping. I do what you have suggested in your great video, 7 or 8 times out of ten, anyway. when I do get it right, It almost feels as though my arms and club are a pendulum, and there is virtually no physical effort involved at all. It's a lovely feeling! Just slowish swing back and then let the arms and club fall through, taking the ball on the way (I hope I haven't contradicted anything you have said in your video here, apologies if I have) See you later in the week for my next lesson with the driver.

Hi Danny, great vids! You're my coach of choice across the whole YT with your clear and broken approach to golfs challenges, but, more importantly, considerate the the higher/older handicappers who just will never be Justin Rose, thank you! I have question related to pitching and wondered if you could clear it up for me. In this video you talk about passive action and letting the club do the work through the fall, which, surprisingly, as a higher handicapper with my trusty old Callaway X14's, I was doing already through instinct and I'd judge it for around 65 yards (pitching wedge) for my approaches before even seeing this vid, so this one resonated with me easily. However, in a previous vid, the one you did in Dubai, you've a more connected, should I say deliberate strike, for pitch shots and wondered if that little nugget was intended for greater distance or whether you've developed the action further to suit your style in this video? Hope that makes sense Danny. In the meantime anyone reading this obviously has taken the time to check out your videos and they should check out your professional website too, it's fab!

I've watched lots of different YTers talk about pitching, and it's all very diverse, I guess, to put it one way. Someone said pitching should end at the 90 degree mark when your club is parallel to the ground, and basically you shouldn't be cocking your wrist too much. You're telling me I should cock my wrist such that now my club is vertical to the ground. I understand if you want to hit the ball further you need to get your club higher, but I feel like the wrist cock causes some different swing types when you come back down and make contact with the ball - namely whether you dig down at the ball or whether you're just grazing below it.

Hi Danny. I unsubscribed a couple of weeks who, along with 3 other subscriptions offering golf tips/ lessons etc. My Fault. Too much information wasn't helping. I've now SUBSCRIBED with you again as I believe your explanations on each video and level of detail offers me a much better chance to improve my technique, particularly with my short game. Now... I have to go and wear out a piece of the rug in my sitting room. 😉 Many thanks. Bobby.

Is it same swing as your video about half backswing then turn the body and release the club drill during downswing?

Hi Danny, I’ve been struggling horribly with pitch shanks but this approach seems to work. Only practicing in the garden at the moment but hoping I can take this to course when we’re over the lockdown. Feels quite a handsy shot with all the cocking and de-cocking so hope this can be consistent. But the shanking seems largely sorted, thank you!

One think you can do in the garden Nick is to work on getting a consistent ground contact. Putting technique aside for a second, imagine putting 2 coins on top of each other then making a swing and trying to only hit the top coin, almost impossible right? This is the level of concentration and practice you should be focusing on. Tee a ball up off a driver tee and see if you can clip it off without disturbing the tee. Games liken this will huge improve your chipping technique

Will give this a go Danny, thank you. Good to have some constructive drills at the moment. Add in some core exercise work and will come back stronger!

Hi Danny, great vid by the way. Just wondering why nobody ever seem to explain why deceleration in the downswing is an issue.

Great instruction! I've followed Dave Pelz teaching for a while, which is similar to what you're teaching here, and had some success. However, I eventually started shanking my pitch shots off the hozel and now I'm unable to freely swing without fear of shanking...so I've end up just keeping arms and hands locked in an impact position and rocking my shoulders. It's better than shanking but distance control is not easy. Any advice for getting back to your method?

Thank you I will practice this technique. My chipping is so sad. Every time I miss a green I get anxiety.

Start by developing consistent contact with the ground first, a nice glide over the turf

Kerry and Peter Fryer, good question think of a tube of toothpaste, hold it tight enough to allow the past to come out but not so hard that It flys out
