On mine, I clean with Fiebing's saddle soap, then oil generously with mink oil or neatsfoot oil. Once absorbed , I follow with Cadillac leather lotion. My wax polish of choice is Lincoln. Angelus and Kiwi also work.

Just as I predicted, I loved my Barefoot Rangers in fudge, crazy horse leather so much I had to get another pair of Jim Green boots! This time I got them with the Veg Tan finish in Walnut color! Man oh, man! These Veg Tan finish boots are so pretty I haven't even worn them yet! I just pull them out of the box and say, "Damn, but those are good looking!" After I finish breaking in my first set I'll start on these. Thanks again, Jim! You and you're company are great!

Been wearing barefoot shoes for a couple years. I randomly discovered African Ranger Barefoot boots on the internet and within one day of research bought the natural veg tan on February 21, received them in a few days, and love them. Never heard of Jim Green before then and wasn’t aware of the hype and the wait others dealt with, but my recent interest in Rhodesian brushstroke camo clothing coincidentally steered my search engine in the direction of the African Ranger boot. I’ve got to thank Mr. Crouch and the folks at Jim Green for collaborating with Rose Anvil on this.

These boots are ridiculously good! I have a pair of the Nubuck Barefoot Rangers and I have to admit, they did take a minute or two to break in! I bought a pair with the Veg Tan finish in Walnut and, not only are they gorgeous but, I didn't have half the trouble breaking this pair in as I did the first. I think that, after the first pair, I became used to the style and move in a way that causes me less discomfort while in the break in stage. Thanks again! My blue Jim Green cap rocks hard as well.

I've used the Sapphire renovator cream on my rangers and it works very well, it has almost the same ingredients as your balm. When I can get the Jim Green balm I'll get some.

You said you wore the frog grip sole in rain and snow, how well does that grip in snow? Been looking for a everyday boot that I can also wear in bad weather. I was wearing thoroughgoods with their wedge sole but it gets slick on snow and ice and I don't want something as rough and blocky as a lug sole.

I noticed you were applying the JG boot balm to new pairs of JG boots in the nat veg tan. Do you guys recommend applying the boot balm to the nat veg tan leather right out of the box new?

The application of the balm from day 1 will assist in the breaking in period of your boots slightly softening the leather, another benefit from day 1 is the water resistant properties strengthening due to the bees wax seal around the boot 💪🐸

How does the houston green crazy horse leather look after conditioning with the balm? There are accounts and photos of the fudge and houston brown crazy horse leather after conditioning, but none of the green.

Does jim green only use the fiberboard for the inner sole? If not could you do a custom leather foot bed. My razorbacks only downfall was that the fiberboard foot bed deteriorated. I work in construction and ive absolutely loved my steel toe razorbacks definitely going to get another pair

Question about the balm: normally I shine my boots with horsehair brush after conditioning. I noticed you only used a cloth/old tshirt. Would you not recommend using a horsehair brush for shining after using your leather balm?

Love everything about the African Ranger Barefoot Boot except for the logo on the back heel of the boot. I like my leathers clear without any stamps, just like majority of leather boots being sold. Will there be veg tan African Ranger Barefoot Boots that come without heel stamps like the Numzaan? I would definitely buy them if they're ever available.

Good day and great question! The difference purely lies in the leather. Our Houston brown is more of a oily nubuck material where our Brown Ranger makes use of a smooth leather finish 💪🐸

I'm confused with the mixing of vocabulary. Are the natural veg tan boots just veg tanned or are they re-tanned like you say a few times in the video? I could tell they were a little darker than natural veg tan leather usually is, but I assumed it was lighting or you used a worn pair for the pictures.

I've been loving my Numzaan boots!!! But PLEASE fix the loose eyelet issue. For those of us who like a snug boot and crank our laces tight the metal eyelets tend to come loose and stretch the hole in the leather. This happened on my African Rangers too. Aside from that I've really enjoyed all my Jim Green boots and will probably pick up another pair soon.

I was just hoping to see the problem resolved going forward for any boots I get in the future. Aside from that one relatively minor issue, these boots have been great!!! Actually have them on my feet as I'm typing this haha.

Most leather care products will "work". Most products will be better than doing nothing. Hard to actually find a bad product, which will damage your shoes.
