Sorry but new balance any model can not clean this way. The suede original color will be trashed. Never brush any new balance, the damage is permanent and no no no don't do that.
That’s not entirely true. The colour would fade “over time” but that’s with any suede cleaning method and the nature of suede. Getting suede wet is not a problem you just have to rebrush the nap
