I fixed my gf equinox timing chain, 10 miles later the pickup tube clogged ,low oil pressure an took out rod bearings after I fixed the timing chain and pickup tube
So I just had my oil changed - jiffy lube - and a few days later I start hearing fairly loud ticking noise (2006 pontiac vibe) so I did some research and one owner mentioned there is a metal baffle in below the fill that can easily be bent. Sure enough - I look in there and the baffle is bent down and it’s shiny on the edge from the cam hitting it. It was *not* bent before. So the ticking got real loud - I pulled the baffle back up, and at start the engine is quiet. And after running for about a few minutes the ticking started so I drove around the block and then the oil light came on. It’s got full oil - I can’t confirm they put the right weight oil in or even the proper filter (can’t see the code on it). But I say all this because I suspect that the big chunks (looks like about 1/2 cm sq came off in total) that came off the baffle are collecting on the screen once the engine is warm and recirculates but on start is fine. No engine light only the oil light and no abnormal temp. Does this sound reasonable to you as a symptom of a clogged pickup ?
Sure enough it was. Had to drop the pan in 100+ degree heat (in hindsight should have bought a new pan as the cleaning aspect was too much work without a proper setup but I digress). There were chunks of metal along with some sludge from over the years from a prior owner but after I got all that taken care of and the tube cleaning all issues went away. Still pains me to think about Jiffy Lube and how I should have known better. The filter also showed some metal trapped, and only time will tell just how much damage was done in that brief time period but so far no signs of any issues.
I hate this, but profited a great deal off a car from some idiot taking a screw driving shoving it down into that baffle an actually punching a hole thru the baffle an knocking a tooth off the cam so the car would randomly die from the cam sensor not having the correct readings, I bought the lil red car with 90,000 miles for $1000, grabbed a camshaft from a junkyard an sold the car for 5500
An you know what's CRAZY some idiot prolly tried to punch the baffle with a screwdriver just so they could poor the oil into the valve cover faster an created a serious problem in doing so. I would be taking the car there an showing them what one of there mechanics did, 💯
Now that you bought a new oil lifter You should change the oil and filter again after 300 miles giving an oil flush when engine cold sump plug out get some one to start engine while you pour in oil flush then stop You will work out the reason of this For very short period
Well done this may be the source of many problems that sound like the chain but are really oil pressure problem from the way the seal mounts to the oil pump and clogging as yuo show. The negativity/down votes on this vid may be because you have shown the root cause of the problems for this engine and thats causing a bad reaction.. :-)
The downvotes are from the misleading title. This is not a how-to. This is a vlog of a guy replacing parts. Nobody likes being clickbaited by poor quality content. Especially given most people are frustrated with their vehicle problems. That’s probably why it has so many downvotes. Not that we can see them now, anyway
Use Carb-Part cleaner in aerosol can. Lucas Part cleaner and degreaser is a good one, CRC makes a good Carb-Part cleaner spray. Etc. Aluminum safe degreaser part cleaner, scrub brush, tooth brush, rags or paper towels.
@@Smokeybear_j.b I would just use engine cleaner works on my motorcycle like a dream. Spray, let sit for 5 or 10 min and use a soft brush to run over it, rinse and repeat if needed. YES, wash with soap, like DAWN dish liquid and RINSE well. Voila!!!

Artistry Photography I have 2011 Nissan Juke . Oil pan was full of same stuff due to major leak from the oil pan . Was that metal shavings inside your oil pan ? Did your car run Without any problems after your you clean the pan and the screen ? I would love to know
