The lid & all of the remaining items clean beautifully in the dishwasher. I didn't prescrub any of them. They weren't as dirty. I clean them after every use. FYI. The black square gaskets slip off the fan assembly easy to wash.

Dependingly if I'm using it heavily no I do not clean it every time. Meaning using it at least twice a day. I always clean the lid but no I do not clean the fan assembly every time nor do I think anybody else does. How could anyone allow the grill to get this disgustingly dirty and keep using it. Made me want to throw up. I can see not cleaning the fan assembly too often but allowing the water tray and drip tray to fill up was revolting. You must have a busy life haha.
It sounds like maybe some of the coding has been washed off or not put on correctly by the manufacturer. Try some cooking spray or butter. Butter makes everything better 😆😁✌️
