Fantastic video! Thank you! My biggest question still with resin is how long to cure... Do you do 30 minutes for any print? I've been warned about "over curing" and making prints brittle, etc. and I really haven't found a common formula for this.
@Chef_PC
@Chef_PC 2 года назад
I do most of my cleanup in the pre-cure state because it takes way less effort. I leave the fiddly bits for post-cure, but I love dipping in hot water to get the supports off.
@Groundeffected
@Groundeffected 2 года назад
Yea I do too. Most of it anyway. And then I find it is better to sand or file the cured resin as it doesn’t ball up as much.

Haven't tried the hot water trick yet. I will give that a go. I highly recommend some flex build plates though! They are a game changer
@Groundeffected
@Groundeffected 2 года назад
You know I’ve never had a problem removing the models from the plate in order to warrant a flex plate. But I can say for fdm it is really necessary. But with my resin machines it’s one of the things I tune. The amount of “stick” the print has. I should make a video about this. And as for hot water, bro now that is a game changer!!

Great video as always ! I am a fan of your channel. Just one thing 🙏 please don’t drop uncured resin down the drain. This is very bad for the environment. Instead keep the water in contact with uncured resin and leave it outside in a recipient for curing before to be safely disposed.

That is the video I was needing in my learning! Completely clear! two doubts: How much time do you leave the part in IPA alcohol? And second: do you have a similar video, but how to change of color in the airbrush? I mean, I am new and I use one color, and then I do a complete clean in order to use a second color. Is there a faster way? Thanks!
@Groundeffected
@Groundeffected 2 года назад
Pretty much need to do that. You can just empty the airbrush and do a quick rinse then put your new colour in. As for ipa baths probs like 15-20 mins is fine. I do the dirty one first then the clean one I let it sit for a few mins.
@Groundeffected

Do you mean empty the airbrush and clean it with paper towels, alcohol for the container and the neddle too? Remove it, do a perfect clean and so on? I’ll do a video about this soon but if you notice I don’t have any support marks to fill on this. I sanded them smooth. If I was to fill this though. I would use green stuff or milliput. As for primer I use Vallejo surface primer

You must be careful not to inhale the fumes that’s coming from heated resin. If you can smell it that means you’re inhaling it. I’m not so keen on blow heating it at leat with water the fumes are somewhat contained to the water.

15 to 20 minutes curing? Does this make the parts to brittle? I've been doing 150 seconds but my uv station has a rotating base. always worried about warping
@Groundeffected
@Groundeffected 2 года назад
Well yea technically it could depending on the resin. But realistically it’s around 15mins each side and the resin won’t be any more brittle than it was designed to be in its cured state. But I have a video about mixing siraya tech tenacious into the resin and this makes the resin slightly flexible and much much more durable.

150 seconds? I cure for about an hour each side with my 40w UV light. If you try and scratch the model with your nail and you can then its not 100% cured yet. I have no issues with over curing unless you count clear resins turning a bit brown.
@brandonchaplin9782
@brandonchaplin9782 Год назад
Bit late to this but yeah the UV curing stations you can get from Elegoo and Anycubic etc are way stronger then the one like Brent had here and even the sun hence why you can leave them in for a few minutes and you're pretty much good to go
