Just bought your LUTs and am wondering where to drop them in? Your video doesn't really mention... do are they used in the last node in place of the DLOG-M to REC709 LUT or somewhere else in the node tree? Thanks!
I'm new to DaVinci Resolve and have watched many tutorials, but this one is the only one I found that explains the basics of coloring in a simple way - thank you!
Good video. Question - why you feel using LUT achieves better results than using Color Space Transform node when doing grading on DLOG-M footage? What's wrong with using Color Space Transform? Wouldn't that more accurately perform grading on the footage instead of doing so many different color grading nodes separately ? Thanks.
I don’t know if it’s better. DJI will likely have done this transform and created the conversion LUT for users who don’t know how to colour grade to just double tap and use that to convert rather than go through the transform node which can be confusing for people who haven’t used DaVinci. I tried this myself before and it showed no difference. Appreciate the comment.
This is so simple and relatable. I am just starting with Davinci Resolve and it has been a bit overwhelming. I use a DJI Osmo Action 4 mounted to a motorcycle helmet for some POV footage and shot in d-log. Can I still add a LUT after I add the DJI CST LUT? So essentially everything you did in the video, then add another node with a LUT? Or would that be redundant?
All you need to do is add the LUT. No CST is needed as it’s already taken care of. Wanted to make it as simple as possible with less nodes and clicks. I’m hoping to work on a third pack as season start to change
If you put the DJI lut second to last node and then do a color space transform in the last node from color space Rec.709 to Rec.709 and a gamma transform from i think Gamma 2.4 to Cineon Film Log, you can use the Film Luts (the Kodak one that come with davinci).
You don’t need to do any colour transform. Just use the DJI conversion LUT or use a LUT from the link and no need to worry about anything. Just make sure your colour settings are correct so when you export the footage doesn’t look different.
@@DimmyV That not what I was trying to say. I just meant that if you put the DJI Lut second to last and a color transform after it with the inputs I wrote down, you can use the Kodak Film Luts from Davinci.
DR is free the studio version is paid. Appreciate the feedback and noted. I add sound effects them in case someone is listening and not watching and the indicate something important on screen. I normally watch videos (listen to videos) while cooking and SFX help that. Thank you 🍻
@@egnogra I don’t have the 4D but I assume yes if it’s Dlog-m. I would always watch a few videos to formulate my decision. You can also try both options and go with the one you prefer and gives you the results you’re looking for.
Form a quick search I would stick to 709. If you want to confirm 100% I recommend checking some others channels out and see what other windows users go by. If anyone uses windows and know feel free to add your input.
@@vilnisphoto the DJI conversion lut already does that for me. I’m also not shooting in slog just normal profile on Sony. But it will be transitioning soon
